Our dog Abbey died last month. My 4-year-old daughter Lucy missed her a lot and asked if we could write a letter to God to make sure he could look after Abbey well. I told Lucy that I thought we could, and she dictated(口述) these words:

    We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Lucy and addressed it to God/Heaven. Yesterday, we received a package addressed "To Lucy" with this note:

    We had an awful school trip last week. Some students were late. Then we waited half an hour for the school bus, but it didn't arrive. Finally, our teacher took us to take the subway. It took over an hour. Then we walked a long way. When we arrived at the zoo, it was already 12:00. We were all tired and hungry. We wanted to see pandas, but there weren't any. There were some really smart dolphin（海豚）,but we didn't see the show because we arrived too late. We forgot our cameras, so we couldn't take any photos. Then it started to rain, and no one had an umbrella. We didn't see many animals because of the rain. So we went for lunch. We ate hamburgers. My friends also had some ice-cream. But I didn't have any, because I don't like it. I wanted French fries, but there weren't any in the shop. They were sold out! Finally we went back to school. We were wet, tired and stressed out. I didn't enjoy my school trip at all.

Albert was mad about computer games. When people encouraged him to return to 1 life, he would say, "This is my doorway to the world."

In one of his favorite games, he would 2 as many turtles as he could.3 else could collect more than he did. But Albert still wanted more. One day, when he got home from school, he found two real turtles in his bedroom.

No one knows exactly when jazz was invented, or by whom. But it is {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (据说) that it began in the early 1900s. 

Jazz was a new kind of music for America and the world, and New Orleans was its birthplace. Who were the jazz pioneers? Most were blacks. This music was not {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (写) down, and at first only blacks played it. It was hard for white musicians to learn the new style. But soon they, too, were {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (弹奏) jazz.

But life was not always easy, especially at the beginning. Louis Armstrong was born in 1900 in New Orleans. His father {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (从不) went to school and his mother could hardly read. When Louis was still a kid, his parents separated, and Louis lived with his mother. How hard their life was can be imagined. And yet Louis smiled through everything. He later wrote, " My whole life has been happiness. Life was there for me and I accepted it. {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (无论什么) happened has been beautiful to me. I love everybody. "

It was sunny last Sunday. I called my classmates and {#blank#}1{#/blank#} a bicycle to a farm near a bill A farmer welcomed {#blank#}2{#/blank#} in front of his house. The farm was so beautiful. We saw hens, ducks and pigs there. We {#blank#}3{#/blank#} like birds out of the cage(笼子), running around happily. We did many wonderful activities around the farmhouse. Sally tried {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Some apples from a tree. I got to the top of the hill and {#blank#}5{#/blank#} quite a few photos. Tony seemed to {#blank#}6{#/blank#} no interest in these activities. He sat {#blank#}7{#/blank#}a big tree and relaxed. At twelve o' clock, most of us were {#blank#}8{#/blank#}. The farmer prepared(准备) some delicious food for us. Of course, we must pay for it, {#blank#}9{#/blank#} we still thanked him. To remember what we did, I wrote down some {#blank#}10{#/blank#} between the life in the city and that on the farm in my diary.

All in all, it was a wonderful day!

A strong wind blew as I walked to Mrs. Goodman's house. Her knee was badly hurt months ago and Mom told her that I would do her yard(院子) work1 she was able to again.

I knocked on 2 door and waited for long. The door3 opened. "Hi, Rodney," Mrs. Goodman said. "Sorry it took me so long to answer the door! Today, I need you to clean out my flowerbeds and rake(耙) the leaves. Do you have any4 ?"

"Mrs. Goodman, could you tell me how to clean out a flowerbed? I know how to rake leaves,5 I'm not sure how to do it by myself." I blushed and said, "I'm sorry I have so many questions!" Mrs. Goodman 6 looked at me as she said, "Rodney, you don' t have to be 7 for asking questions." She told me8 to complete the work, and soon I was ready to get started.

 First I cleaned out the flowerbeds, and then I started raking the leaves. While working,  I thought about a math problem I was having at school. I9 Mrs. Goodman was a math teacher before. However,I was still10 to ask her for math help.

A 11 later, Mrs. Goodman opened the door and called, "Would you like to come inside and warm up?" Inside, she handed me a cup of hot chocolate. "You have done a great job, Rodney. It was12 for me to admit(承认) that I needed help with my yard. work. Have you ever had a hard time13 help?" she said.

 Now I knew that I didn't have to keep my problem 14 . "I sure have, Mrs. Goodman," I answered, "can you help me with my math problem?"

"Certainly!" she 15 .

I knew that I would help Mrs. Goodman again whenever she needed me.
