Tony and Robert are neighbors, so their families sometimes 1 together. One day, Robert asked Tony for some 2, saying that he needed it for a business (生意).

    "Okay, then write him a letter asking him for the 8 dollars he owes you," the lawyer said.

    " 9 I only lent him 5000 dollars," Tony said.

    "That's what he will say 10 he replies (答复) and then you'll have your proof!"

Last summer, I began the biggest adventure(冒险) of my life. I moved from a small city in England to one of the largest cities in the world.

As the plane landed(降落) in Beijing, I felt excited —I finally arrived here after months of planning! The first thing I did was to visit one of the city's hutongs. I couldn't believe that many people still rode their old-fashioned tricycles(老式三轮脚踏车). Just at that time, I thought, "Wow! I'm in China."

Beijing is very different from my city, Preston. Preston has only one shopping street and on Sunday, all the shops close at 4:00 p. m. There aren't many choices when it comes to the restaurants, either, because the food is very simple. But after I have tasted so many kinds of food here, I still don't have a favorite dish.

I am slowly getting used to the different life, and I find that some habits here are quite strange and humorous (幽默的). English people were told not to make any kind of noise at the dinner table when they were children, so it is a funny culture shock (冲击) when I hear the loud noise of Chinese dinners.

In the future, I will go to many other parts of China. I hope I can travel from one end to the other of this beautiful country, taking photos and meeting new people along the way.

My adventure in China has just begun, and I wonder how it will be.

One day, a bird keeper was feeling the king's favourite bird when it escaped (逃走) from the cage and flew away. When the king learned of that , he was mad and immediately ordered that the bird keeper be killed.

People were upset. They felt that their king was too harsh (残酷的) over a small matter. The king's minister(大臣) realized this and hurried to the palace. He said, "I'm sorry for your loss. It's fair for you to put the bird keeper to death for he has three crimes(犯罪). Please allowed me to point them out to the man so that he can die knowing his mistakes.

People in the room were shocked by the minister's words. The king, however, agreed and asked his men to bring the bird keeper. The minister walked towards him and said, " Listen ! You were so careless that you let the bird fly away. This is your first crime. You made the king angry, causing him to have a man killed because of a bird. This is your second crime. Finally, your death will lead the people to believe that their king is harsh since he values a pet far more than the life of a human being, This is your third crime.

Hearing this, the whole palace went silent. The king was ashamed(羞愧). Then he said," Free the bird keeper. I'm really lucky to have my minister. Let everyone learn from his courage(勇气)."

Veronica Cabrera Moreno comes from Houston, USA．With the help of her family, she made an art classroom out of an old school bus.

Veronica, a mother of four, likes painting a lot. She always uses art to make her neighborhood better. One day, she thought, "Why not ask kids to paint on a school bus?" She wanted to make an art bus and began to ask for some donations online.

Soon, Veronica got everything she needed. And her art bus looks very beautiful. There are some desks and chairs in it. All the art supplies in it are free. Children can use colored pens, paper, etc. without paying money. Parents can get on the bus and paint with their children, too. They can have lots of fun there.

"I think art is very important to children," Veronica says. "It is a nice way to express (表达) themselves. And art can help children grow into great persons of tomorrow."

Elephants are big, but Teensy was the smallest of them. Teensy tried everything she could think of to help herself grow. She ate a lot. However, nothing seemed to 1 .

One day Teensy went with the elephants to have lunch. They stopped in front of some trees and found their favourite green leaves. Teensy raised her nose and tried again and again, but she couldn't reach the branches. Not even the 2 ones!

At the end of the day, Teensy was with the rest of the elephants watching the 3 . But Teensy couldn't see very much. "Excuse me," said Teensy politely, "I'd like to see more than your knees, if you please." But the elephants didn't hear little Teensy. They were too 4 enjoying the sunset. She knew she was too little to walk away by herself, so she sat and imagined what the sunset must look like. "Oh, I guess it is too pretty for words!" she sighed. Teensy was very sad. "Oh, woe is me，" she said. Suddenly, Teensy heard a tiny voice. "What is woe?" the voice said. Teensy looked down and saw a mouse. "Woe means sad," said Teensy. She told the mouse about seeing only elephant5 instead of the sunset. 

"I'm too little," she said. 

"Why? You're not little at all," said the mouse. 

"Do you think so?" replied Teensy, "I'm sorry you're so small. I know how it feels." "Don't be sorry," said the mouse. "I like being small! I can always fit into corners."

"Wow," said Teensy, "so being 6 CAN be good." 

How did Churchill achieve so much? One key to his success was his strictly observed daily schedule.

Churchill is not a particularly early riser, he is a night owl. Around 8 o'clock, he takes off his sleeping mask to the smell of breakfast. On his bed places a tray（托盘）to his own design, with a cutout for his round belly that allows him to have breakfast and work at the same time.

Churchill usually begins the mornings with a full English breakfast, often accompanied by meat from the previous night, and sometimes a glass of wine. As he picks through his tray of food, he    peruses the morning newspapers. Sometimes he rises, walking to his beloved Clementine in her separate bedroom, to discuss a startling development. From his battle station he dictates（口述）letters, sips from a glass filled with water and some whisky, and reads until late morning. Then he bathes, dresses and begins his day. Lunch is followed by a walk round the gardens and ponds, cards with family and friends then followed by a nap. His nap is exactly an hour long. It allows him, he says, to get more hours out of every twenty-four.

Churchill's daily schedule reveals important principles for success: he knows how to get things done. He is one of the most productive men who ever lived. To achieve productively, he always follows two principles. The first he learnt from Napoleon: strength of force in the most important places. The second is economy of effort（节约能量）.

Economy of effort is one of Churchill's excellent characteristics（特征）. His daily work in bed saves energy for later, when he will often dictate from a stand-up desk. When travelling he is even more economical. Never stand when you can sit down, he will advise a visitor. "Never sit down when you can lie down, and never to miss an opportunity to visit a washroom, as there is no knowing when the next chance will appear."
