We arrived at our new house in the city. I took my dog Max with me. Grandpa offered to keep Max on his farm, but I refused. Although I would visit Grandpa every weekend, I couldn't give up Max for five days a week! Dad and Mom started cleaning the new house right away, and I took a chain (链条), tied it to Max's collar (颈圈) and walked him to the yard. I felt sorry as he looked at me with sad eyes. He wanted to run freely.

At last Friday came, and we packed to go to the farm. "Let's walk Max to the car," Mom said, tying the chain to his collar.

As soon as Mom opened the door, Max ran away. Mom and I jumped into the car and caught up to him, who was running beside the road with his tongue sticking out. Then he rushed into the road. A coming car came to a sudden stop. Mom shouted "Sorry" to the driver. We ran after Max all the way to the park before he was ready to get in the car.

Finally, we got back to Grandpa's farm. Returning to this old place, Max seemed to be back to his happy days. He ran across the field, leaving the vegetables in a mess. He barked at the chickens and scared them to fly in every direction and ran after the birds. "He loves the life on the farm, doesn't he?" laughed Grandpa. I pretended (假装) not to hear it.

When we got ready to leave on Sunday, Max's eyes no longer shone. As we walked him to our car, he tried to run away. This time, I held the chain tightly (紧紧地). However, my heart tightened at his sad sounds-he was begging! ____▲____. As I watched Max run to the farm, I couldn't help crying. Mom said, "Dear, this is what love is all about."

Albert Einstein is known as a great scientist. Many people c{#blank#}1{#/blank#} him a genius. But actually he is also a person with a great s{#blank#}2{#/blank#} of humor. He often made people laugh. He received many invitations to explain his theories. One day, he was invited to give a lecture at a university. However, he was so tired that he wanted to a {#blank#}3{#/blank#} doing that. But he didn't want to let his audience down. His driver, Hans, said he had learned the lecture by h{#blank#}4{#/blank#}. Einstein trusted him and let him give the lecture i{#blank#}5{#/blank#}. It wasn't difficult for Hans to do it. He felt relaxed and gave the lecture successfully. In the end, they left the university pleasantly.

 On May 12,2008,a magitude-8.0 earthquake hit Wenchuan,Niu Yu,an11-year-old girl,lost her right leg in the disaster.

 The first time I removed the outer prosthesis(假肢) around my leg, I was so1 that my whole body was shaking. At that moment, I remembered lying in the hospital, looking at the ceiling(天花板), but seeing only2 . I had no idea what a prosthetic leg was. All I knew was that I wouldn't be able to run anymore. 

 As it turned out, I felt sad for years. I wanted to be a"normal" girl, but it seemed 3 . I did anything I could to hide. But one day, my father told me something I'll never 4 : If you want to live a good life, you must 5 your body as it is. 

 My 6 only grew when I took part in for a teaching program in Tibet. And I started running again. In 2018, I ran Wenchuan's half marathon. After I ran to the finishing line, I pulled off the outer cover and showed my prosthetic leg— it was so cool!

 In October 2021, I was invited to walk in a show in Shanghai. I'd never received any training before, 7 I was nervous when I stepped out onto the runway, prosthetic leg first. Then, I remembered a 8 I'd received from a fan. She told me that her dream was to become a model, but losing a leg made it impossible. She had seen many disabled models abroad, but she had9 seen one in China. 

 Suddenly, I felt powerful. I realized that I was standing on that runway not just as myself, but as someone who stood for everyone that was just like me. I was there not to look 10 , I was there for me— and them— to feel seen. 

I'm Mark，a student in New York. Let me introduce our Friday food to you. In America，Friday nights are pizza nights for most families. That's the last workday before the weekend. Everyone is quite relaxed and wants to enjoy the weekend as early as possible. Parents don't want to spend （花费） too much time cooking on Friday，so they buy pizzas. 

My parents go to Pizza Hut on York Street to buy pizza s every Friday. We kids all love cheese pizzas. Mom and Dad buy two cheese pizzas for us. They don't like cheese pizzas. Both of them love meat. They often buy chicken pizzas for themselves. Sometimes they'd like to try beef or fish for a change. The next week they go back to chicken. 

Every Friday，the kitchen table is full of pizza boxes after dinner. It's our job to clean the table. We need to put all the boxes in the big bin（垃圾桶） in front of the house. We play" rock，paper，scissors（石头剪刀布游戏）"to see who does the job. I never have good luck. It's always me. 

But when the weekend comes，I become very lucky. I am always the winner of the family activities. I really enjoy my family life. 

The Snowball Fight

 My mom always says, "Don't throw snowballs. You might hurt someone, or hurt yourself." She often tells me like this, but I like playing snow with my friends. So. I got1 .

"Oh Mom! You' re no fun! You 2 let me do interesting things." I said as I ran outsıđe, closing the door behind me.

I was playıng in the snow with my friends, just building a big  snow fort(雪堡). I was fccling bad about what I had said to my mom. I was sorry that I hurt3 feelings.

 Suddenly, a snowball hit me in the4 . It was not hardi but the whole back of my head was in snow.

I turned around and saw some kids in another snow fort. They had a big kid with them,5 they could throw really far. Just then,a big snowball hit my friend's jacket.

 And the fight was on. We all 6 our snowboarding goggles(防护镜), covered(覆盖) our faces with scarves, and we started throwing!

 Then they all came 7 lots of snow and ran into our fort The big kid caught me and playfully rubbed(涂, 抹) the snow on my face. We all 8 and felt excited!

 After a few minutes, they all started to walk away. I was curious, so I said to the new kid,"Hey, what's your name?"

"Huh?" the kid's voice was low and he pulled off his 9 . "Ali, you wouldn't want to know my name," she said. "I'm no fun."

 What a surprise! It was my10 ! Moms can be fun.
