Karan Singh is just like any other five-year-old- except for the fact that he is 5 feet 7 inches tall! When he was born, he was 15 pounds- the usual1of a newborn baby is about half of this, and he was four inches taller than the usual baby.2his height and weight at birth, his father Sanjay thought there might be something wrong with him, but doctors found he was3and really fine.

    Before he could walk or talk, Karan was made into The Guinness Book of World Records in 2008 as the tallest and heaviest newborn baby. Karan clearly4his mother, Shweatlana, who is 7 feet 3 inches tall and one of the5women in South Asia! Sanjay is also quite tall at 6 feet 7 inches.

    Being so tall isn't always a great thing for Karan and his6. Karan used to get bullied about his height, but he doesn't anymore. "But they all say that I am cheating when we7 basketball," Karan said.

    Shweatlana also had trouble finding diapers that fit him when he was8and still has trouble finding children's clothes for him sometimes. "Now I just buy him adult size9. They fit him perfectly well," she said.

    She is also10about her health and that her son might have the same condition she has. "I used to get about 1.5 inches of height every year because of too much growth hormone. I sometimes feel afraid that my son has the same disease as I have. But I know he is doing well and he will grow up to be a nice and healthy person."

In the Jin Dynasty ( 朝 代 ), there lived a man named Le Guang. He was very1 , and he always invited his friends to his home. One day, Le Guang visited one of his best friends who didn't come to see him for a long span of time.

His friend looked 2 all the time. Seeing this, Le Guang assumed( 猜 想 ) something might happen to his friend and he 3 what was wrong. "What's the matter?" Le Guang asked. "We were having fun in your home that day, but I4 felt sick when I saw that there was a little snake lying in my glass," his friend replied.

Back home, Le Guang saw a bow ( 弓) with a painted snake on the wall of his room. "I see!" An idea came into his 5 . He put the table at the same place and invited his friend to have a drink. Again, there was a shade ( 阴 影 ) of the bow in the glass and Le Guang asked his friend to6 . "That is what happened last time. It is the same snake," said his friend. Le Guang laughed and 7 the bow on the wall. "Could you see the snake in your glass anymore?" he asked. His friend was8 to find that the snake was no longer in the wine. Then he knew it was just a shade instead of a real 9 . In the end, his friend got better and learned a useful10 from it: ‘One should stay calm before making quick judgments on unfounded fears.'

 When shopping for clothes, my mother and I have always disagreed on what fits me well. To me, if it zips, it fits. My mom, however, usually tells me I need a bigger size.

 When I was a teenager, I wanted to dress like my friends, but my body size made it impossible. When mo m told me something didn't suit me, or I needed a bigger size, all I heard was that my body was wrong.

 To avoid arguments, we stopped going shopping together. This continued until  I got engaged(订婚) last year and needed to buy some clothes. When I tried on a blouse. my mother looked at me, and I knew what was coming." You need a bigger size," she said.

 There was no bigger size. I tried to hold back my tears. Maybe I could buy it alone, of course, but my mom is my favorite person to hang out with The idea of looking for a wedding dress without her seemed just as scary as taking her with me.

 And so the day came. As I tried on a simple white dress. I saw tears in my mom's eyes. " You look beautiful! " she told me. Nothing could have shocked me more.

 This one didn't zip up at the back and I did actually need a bigger size, but my mother didn't say that. She just told me how beautiful I looked. In that moment, all the argument s in the past ended. We didn't buy a dress that day.

 We decided to see more, which I would never have predicted.

A few weeks later, we found the perfect dress. We both loved it as soon as I put it on. And during those few weeks, mom and I also found the perfect fit for our shopping relationship.

Betty collected a basket of seashells. She showed them to Amy. "Look! They are all 1 . These are big and those are small. Some look like beautiful animals. I can use them to make a birthday pre- sent for my Dad! How wonderful!"

Suddenly (突然), Amy saw the sea water rising along the beach. She was 2 and cried, "The waves! They will take your toys!"

"Put my seashells onto the bus, Amy!" Betty ran 3 to get her toys. 

Just when Amy was going to get the basket onto the bus, she fell down and the shells 4 into pieces. 

When Betty 5 , she saw the pieces and cried. Amy tried to tell her what happened, but Betty still looked 6 and didn't talk to Amy. Amy didn't know what to do, so she took them home. 

The next morning at school, Amy found Betty on her 7 . She walked over to her desk and took out a frame (框) and a bag of seashells. "Betty, I 8 some nice seashell pieces from the broken ones last night. Shall we glue (粘) them to the frame together? We can put a 9 of your family in it. It will be a wonderful present. " Amy said. Betty agreed. Together they made a beautiful frame. 

"Sorry, I wasn't careful yesterday, Betty. " Amy said. "I know the shells are 10 to you. " "I should say 'sorry'to you. I like them, but you're my best friend. " Betty smiled. 

The19-year-oldgirl Peng Xiyue, like most girls of her age, enjoys sports like running and swimming. No one knows she has intellectual disability(智力残疾) if people just meet her for the first time.

 Peng was shy and easy to get angry before. She has changed a lot after going to a special education school. She has got training(训练) in the school for 6 years and won first place at the Special Olympic Games(特殊奥林匹克运动会) many times. She also learns about Chinese tea culture(文化) and other helpful skills there. She tells her father that she wants to work as a waitress in a restaurant to make a living(谋生) by herself after she finishes her studies in

2024. Her father is glad to hear that. He believes Peng will have no problem living a good life in the future.

 There are many children like Peng in the school. The school gives them training to help them keep healthy and get some important social skills for their future. Every weekend, volunteers go to the school to help the children exercise. Dong Ruixue, one of the volunteers, thinks people with disabilities are just a little different from others. "They need to beloved, "Dong says. And some college students choose to return to the school to work as teachers when they finish their studies. Wang Furong is one of them. She says working there is different from volunteer work(志愿活动) and she needs to have more skills.

 Now China has more than 85million people with disabilities. "We give different kinds of lessons to help them get jobs in the future. And I'm glad that some companies are willing to offer jobs to them,"says Bian Rong; the school's headteacher.

Last month, our family had a trip to Shanghai Disneyland. At the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} , we tried the motorcycle-style trains(过山车). It seemed {#blank#}2{#/blank#} but exciting. After we got off,I still felt a little dizzy(晕的), so I almost {#blank#}3{#/blank#} . All my families had a good laugh. Later we went to the Fantasy World, we just sat there {#blank#}4{#/blank#} to meet the lovely characters such as Winnie, Snow White and Mickey Mouse. It was really an unforgettable trip, we will {#blank#}5{#/blank#} visit it again next summer vacation!
