Harbin, a city in the northeast of China, drew greatattention and became the hottest tourist city last winter. In fact, on January 5th every year, the city of Harbin innortheast China{#blank#}1{#/blank#} into a winter wonderland. Tourists from all around the world come to visit the {#blank#}2{#/blank#} ice and snow festival. 

The festival started in 1963 and began as a winter party. The festival often lasts for one month. However, if the weather stays cold and dry, it will {#blank#}3{#/blank#} for a few more days. Temperatures are usually very low. They can go down to -17℃. Ice sculptors (雕塑家) use different tools to shape the hard ice and snow. These sculptors show their works in two main areas. "Sun Island" has huge snow sculptures of people and animals. "Ice and Snow World" has sculptures of buildings. At night, these buildings light up {#blank#}4{#/blank#} brightly-colored lights. Visitors can do a lot of other {#blank#}5{#/blank#}, such as skiing and ice sliding. They can also go swimming in the icy waters of the Songhua River. 

You have many hobbies such as doing sports, watching movies and so on. You also have to keep up with schoolwork at school. Is it difficult for you to arrange ( 安排) your time? Here are some time management skills to be a wise time arranger.

{#blank#}1{#/blank#}  Which tasks are important or urgent? Do you have to finish the tasks before a certain time? Find the most important task and do the things according to the order one by one. In this way, you can deal with the most important first.

{#blank#}2{#/blank#}  Doing several things at the same time is a good skill, but it may take longer for you to finish one task and the result could be worse. Pay your attention to one thing at a time and do it well. Then you will feel good about your work and get the best result!

Stay away from electronic products when you are studying. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} Teenagers waste too much time on these digital devices than they do in real tasks. The games and activities can bring bad influence to your schoolwork.

Don't be afraid to say NO to others. You don't have to be available for others all the time. Sometimes you need to focus, but your friends want to ask you to hang out. Just let them know you are busy. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}  You need to focus on your own task. Get started right away for what you want.

Once you start and keep on, things can be very different. Just learn skills, get as much knowledge as you can and enrich your life experience.

Besides the time management skills mentioned above, what else can we do to use time wisely? {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

Frustration (挫折感) is a feeling that is common to nearly everyone: so much to do, so little time. Another year gone by with nothing done, you find all last year's resolutions haven't been realized. Neither did you run that marathon (马拉松) , nor did you learn the guitar. But never mind, things will be different in a new year. This time you will try to finish them through the wind and rain, right? Sadly in Mid-February, 80% of you will have already given up your plans. 

I have always considered the word perseverance (毅力) means such serious suffering (痛苦) and loneliness. Luckily, there is a simple way to achieve success by changing your daily habits. 

In his book, Atomic Habits, author James Clear tells the way of keeping perseverance. He suggests that, if you truly wish to make big changes to your life, the best way is not by making big New Year's resolutions, but by making small changes to your daily habits. 

Getting a small change day by day can help you achieve your big goal. In short, you are your habits and if you have some respectable habits, you will achieve great things. Start slowly and don't worry about others'opinions. You are in competition with yourself. So if at first you don't succeed, fail and fail again, make some changes and you'll succeed. 

Here are two nice photos of my friend. In the first one is my good friend, Gina Smith. And she's 14 years old. She comes from England, but now she lives in China. Gina is a nice and beautiful girl. She likes sports very much. Her favorite sport is tennis. She doesn't like basketball.

Gina can speak English, Chinese and a little French. We are in the same class, so she often helps me with English. Her favorite subject is music because she thinks it's really interesting!

Her big family are in the next photo. Her father Jack is a driver and her mother Mary works in a clinic(诊所) as a nurse. She has a sister and a brother, Jenny and Jackson. They are not in our school, but we are also good friends. They live a happy life in China.

Most people have heard of the Great Wall of China, but not many people outside of China know about the Grand Canal(大运河).This manmade waterway, known in China as Da Yunhe, is 1，700 kilometres long and some parts of it are more than 2，000 years old.It links(连接) the north of China with Hangzhou, a city in the southern part of the country.It's the longest manmade waterway in the world.

 It was built as a way to transport food from the rich land in China's south to cities in the north.In fact, it's not one canal, but a system of canals and rivers linked together.

It's still an important part of the transport system in China.Thousands of boats use it every day to transport food and many other kinds of things.

China is now doing new work on the Grand Canal.It is making part of it deeper, so bigger ships can pass.The canal will also help to move water.There is a lot of rain in the south of China, but not so much in the north.The canal will carry lots of water from the south to the north.

The Grand Canal is much less famous than the Great Wall, and not very many visitors know it.But it sees the changes in Chinese history.It's possible to go on a trip along some of the oldest parts of the canal.Visitors can see beautiful parts of China that others don't see.

How long is Da Yunhe?

You will get different answers if you ask people from different countries, " Could you tell me the way to the post office?"

In Japan, people use landmarks(地标). For example, the Japanese will say to {#blank#}1{#/blank#} visitor, " Go straight down to the corner, turn left at the big hotel {#blank#}2{#/blank#} go past a fruit market. The post office is across from the bus stop. "

In America, the Midwestern land is wide with few towns or buildings. So instead {#blank#}3{#/blank#} landmarks, people tell you directions and distance. In Kansas, for example, people will say, "Go north two {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (mile), turn east and then go another mile. "

People in Greece sometimes do not even try to give directions {#blank#}5{#/blank#} few visitors understand their language. A Greek will often say, "Follow me. " Then he or she will lead you to go across the streets {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(get) to the post office. 

Sometimes if a person doesn't know the answer to {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(you) question, he or she, like a New Yorker, might say, "Sorry, I have no idea. " But in Yucatán, Mexico, no one {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(answer), "I don't know. " People in Yucatán think "I don't know" is not polite. They {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(usual) give an answer, but often a wrong one. Therefore, it is much {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (easy) for visitors to get lost in Yucatán.
