Many people say that they are working too many hours. They don't have enough time to relax or to stay with their family.

    Work hours are different from one country to another. In France, people spend about 1, 646 hours a year at work. In Japan, however, people work about 2, 159 hours a year. That means a Japanese worker works 513 more hours a year than a French worker.

    Why do people work so many hours？Some people work extra hours because they want to make more money. However, many companies don't pay overtime. Their workers don't get more pay for more work. Some people think it's their duty to work more hours. Some are afraid of losing their jobs if they don't work more hours.

    Many people say that their vacations are too short. In France, people get five weeks of paid vacation a year. In Germany, they get four to six weeks, and in the United States, two weeks. One study shows fewer than half of workers used all their vacation days. In Great Britain, there is a saying, "All work and no play makes Jack a dull(迟钝的) boy. "If that is true, there must be a lot of dull people in the world.

Loni loved her town where she lived with her grandma，From their window，Loni and her grandma watched people walk and run along the1 street.At the crossing.a guide dog was helping its owner2 the street." Grandma，I love living here.I hope our town will never3 ." said Loni.

Last term I didn't like my English class. Every class was a bad dream. The teacher spoke so 1 that I couldn't understand her most of the time. I was afraid to ask questions because my 2 was very poor. I just hid(藏) behind my 3 and never said anything.

The Eco-house

Simon Dale didn't want to live in a city's apartment building. So he made up his mind {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(build) his own house in the countryside. He moved to Wales with his family and built {#blank#}2{#/blank#} wooden eco-house. With the help of his father-in-law, a builder, he moved into a comfortable new home after only four months. It only cost $4, 700 to build the house — much {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(cheap) than an apartment. 

The eco-house is made of natural {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(thing). Simon Dale and his father-in-law {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(dig) into the side of a hill and then used the mud and stone to make the walls. The floors are {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(make) of wood from the nearby area. There is no central heating system, {#blank#}7{#/blank#} there's a wood-burner and solar panels(太阳能电板) on the top {#blank#}8{#/blank#} can provide power for lighting, music and computing. Drinking water is from a nearby spring. The fri dge stays cool, thanks {#blank#}9{#/blank#} the underground air. Simon Dale says, "We try to live in peace with the natural world. " He has {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(certain) done his best to achieve that. 

 Last summer, I got a new job. When I was happily waiting for the bus, I found    a(n)1 silk umbrella in the corner of the bus stop. I had never seen such a special 2 . Its ribs(骨架) were made of bamboo, which is cool to touch. The umbrella was made of beautiful silk, very light and3 , with wonderful pictures on it. It must be of great importance to someone. I decided to 4 the owner. About 40 minutes later, a lady came in a hurry and looked for something.

"I challenge Lina," Isabel said. Lina smiled and dribbled out on the field 7 Isabel. They both took their shots. Lina' s ball was closer than before but still missed.

One by one, my teammates all picked Lina. Lina's shots got better but still missed. If I kept missing, I'd probably cry. But she didn't look8 !

"Marta!" Coach Nicki called on me. " 9 should I choose to challenge?" I considered.

"Lina," I heard myself say. Lina gave me a big smile.

As we ran off the field, I promised myself I'd accept Lina's challenge.
