Three years ago, a story happened in Japan. At that time Mike and Ben were taking a holiday on the beach. The two good friends had a fight. Mike hit Ben on the face. Ben was hurt but he said nothing. He only wrote in the sand, "Today my best friend hit me on the face."

After that, they took a taxi back to their hotel. After dinner, Ben started to read in bed. Mike went for a walk in the park near the hotel. Suddenly, an earthquake happened. The small hotel fell down and Ben was under the hotel. Mike saved him. After Ben was out of danger, he wrote on a stone, "Today my best friend saved my life."

Mike asked him, "After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now you write on a stone. Why?" Ben answered, "When someone hurts us, we should write it down in the sand, and then the wind can blow it away. When someone helps us, we must carve (雕刻) it in the stone, then the wind can't blow it away."

It was half past five in the evening when Sarah came home from work. She walked into the living room and looked after three children. The children were fourteen, thirteen and 'nine years old. They were watching TV. The room was dirty and untidy. There were empty glasses and dirty clothes on the floor. There were cakes on the sofa. Toys were everywhere. 

Sarah got angry. "How dirty and untidy this place is!" she said to her children. "I can't work all day and then do housework all evening. I'm not doing the housework!" And so, Sarah didn't do the housework. She didn't clean. She didn't do 'the dishes. She didn't wash the clothes. Every evening she sat in the sofa and watched TV. 

Two weeks later, every dish in the house was dirty. All the children's clothes were dirty, too. Every trash can,（垃圾桶）was full. The whole house was dirty and untidy. 

Then one day Sarah got very surprised when she came home from work. The kitchen was clean. The children cleaned the kitchen! The next day, the living room was clean, and the children were washing their clothes. Sarah told the children. "OK, III do housework again. But you must help me."

Now Sarah and the three children do the housework together. Then they all sit in the sofa and watch TV. 

Most parents don't know what their teenage children are talking about when they are having a chat with their friends. This is also true when teenagers are using the language of texting to send messages. Words like 18r are easy to understand, but what about "POS"? I asked some parents what it means and only 28% got it right! It means that a parent is near and that they are watching what their child is doing.

Parents worry a lot and like to know what is happening in their children's lives at all times.This means they try to control as much of their children's lives as possible. However, they have no control over the language that their children use, so it is a useful way for children to keep parts of their life secret.

Parents also complain that they never have serious conversations with their teenage children. Teenagers are always busy phoning or texting their friends--even when parents are trying to talk to them. And there are times when teenagers aren't busy, but they just don't feel like having a serious chat with mum or dad!

One way to start real conversations is to make sure that the whole family eats together at mealtimes and that everyone has a chance to talk. Teenagers are trying tot find out who they are. They aren't adults yet, but they are learning how to act like big people.

This means that it is a good idea to speak to teenagers like they are adults and it helps to listen to their ideas and opinions carefully. When parents talk to their teenagers, some good advice is " Don't sound like your own parents!" In addition, parents who try to use the language of teenagers often sound very silly. And that's because most times when an adult tries to use "teen talk", the words are probably already unfashionable.

 Recently, the AI chatbot(聊天机器人) ChatGPT has become a hot topic. Many people, with the experience of communicating with it, would be deeply attracted(吸引) by the robot. However, when it comes to education, some people hold different opinions about whether ChatGPT is offering help or making things worse.

Clothing is an important part of any culture. Chinese culture is more than 5,000 years old so the traditional Chinese clothing also has a long history.

Hanfu

Hanfu is the traditional clothing of the Han people. It first appeared in China more than 3,000 years ago. But it disappeared with the beginning of the Qing Dynasty (朝代). Now more and more young people start to enjoy wearing it.

Zhongshan suit

Zhongshan suit is the traditional Chinese clothing named after Sun Yat-sen. It is also famous as Mao suit oversea (在海外) because Chairman Mao liked to wear it. It first appeared in the 1920s.

Tangzhuang is a kind of Chinese jacket but not the clothing of the Tang Dynasty. It got the name from overseas Chinese. The Tang Dynasty was famous in the world, so the overseas Chinese were called (被叫作) "Tang people" and their clothes were called "Tangzhuang".

Cheongsam(qipao)

The cheongsam (qipao) is a traditional Chinese dress. It first appeared in China in the 1920s. Cheongsa m is made of silk, and Chinese women like to wear it because it can show their beauty.
