By drawing pictures on a cup of tea, chabaixi, an ancient Chinese tea art, has become popular recently. Chang Zhifeng, an inheritor(传承人) of chabaixi, noticed from a TV show that many people showed great interest in this art.
Chabaixi can create different pictures such as bum boos and mountains. There are many steps, from grinding(磨碎) tea, pouring boil cd water, stirring(搅拌) the mixture, to finally drawing the pictures. After seven times of pouring water and stirring, there will be enough dark foam(泡沫). Then we can draw pictures on it with clear water and a stick. The process of drawing, or dlancha, must be finished in 20 minutes before the foam disappears.
"Chabaixi is one of the many forms of tea art in China. It becomes popular not only because it is a special Chinese tradition, but also because it gives us a window to see people's lifestyle in the Song Dynasty." Zhang said.
Years ago, this special art was close to disappearing completely. Zhang Zhifeng started researching the origins(起源) of chabaixi in the 1980 s and brought the art back in 2009 after scars of sting and practicing. Chang thought it was really meaningful. In 2017, this art was listed as part of China's Intangible Cultural Heritage (非物质文化遗产).
"This art is key to the tea culture of the Song Dynasty, and it would be a shame to let it disappear. It is our duty to pass it on," Zhang said.

Astronauts may soon be going to the moon again. NASA plans to build bases (基地 ) there.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}So they may have to grow some of it on lunar(月球的) farms. But can plants grow on the moon? Maybe it is possible. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}The study showed that plants can successfully sprout(发芽) and grow in lunar soil (土壤). It also turned out that success
could depend on where on the moon you do your planting.
In the new study, scientists used the soil that astronauts collected from the moon before to grow plants here on Earth. They put this soil in little cups. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}Other cups got Earth soil. Then the scientists planted seeds and watered the soil.
In the Earth soil, plants sprouted healthy leaves. The lunar soil sprouted leaves, too.{#blank#}4{#/blank#}The older the lunar soil was, the worse the plants seemed to grow.
Stephen Elardo, one of the scientists, says it still might be possible to grow plants on the moon.
{#blank#}5{#/blank#}One example may be where volcanoes (火山) once erupted (爆发). The soil is newer there. Scientists still have much to learn, but this study brings humans one step closer to calling the moon home.
A. The key could be finding the right place. B. But those plants were smaller and less healthy. C. Some cups got lunar soil. D. Astronauts won't be able to take all the food they will need. E. Astronauts plan to plant different plants on the moon. F. That's according to a new study from University of Florida scientists. |

The human brain weighs about 1. 4 kilograms, but it can hold much more information than most computers. However, there is another difference between humans and computers. Computers don't forget information they are given, but humans often do. No one remembers everything, and luckily we don't usually have to. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Here are some suggestions.
Try to use new information immediately. For example, if you meet someone who says "Hi! I'm Carlos. " don't just say "Hello". Repeat the person's name. Say "Hello, Carlos. "
Break a big number into smaller parts. For example, it's hard to memorize 109244153. But if you break it into three parts—109/244/153—it becomes easier.
{#blank#}2{#/blank#} This will help you keep it in mind longer, especially for memorizing formulas (公式) or facts.
Always review information. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} For example, before you go to sleep, it's a good idea to review the new things you learned that day.
{#blank#}4{#/blank#} It is always easier to remember things through discussions. You can have a discussion about what's right and what's wrong, and it will lead to the right answer.
"Never tell yourself that you have a bad memory. You can always do something to help improve your memory. And everyone's memory gets better if they use it often enough.
{#blank#}5{#/blank#} If you follow them, you are certain to improve your memory.
A. If you bring what you've learned back to your mind, they become easier to remember. B. All of the suggestions are helpful. C. Discuss with a friend. D. Write out what you need to remember over and over again. E. But everyone can improve their memory if they want to. |
