When I just moved to Los Angeles（洛杉矶）, I didn't have a car.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}, but I wanted to prove（证明）them wrong.

    I asked my neighbor, Mrs. White, to take me to the bus station in the center of the city, so I could try taking the bus home.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}. When I got there, I went inside and got a bus timetable（时刻表）. I looked at the map and worked out that I needed to take three buses to get home.

    I bought the tickets and went outside to wait at the bus stop for the Number 8 bus. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. I gave my ticket to the bus driver and took a seat. At the right stop I got off. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. I waited and waited. A man was also waiting for the same bus. He said that it wasn't unusual for the bus to be late. Half an hour later, it finally came. To make the matter worse, the third bus broke down halfway and the driver had to fix it. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. So when I finally got home, I was very tired. Maybe getting a car in Los Angeles wasn't such a bad idea!

"I made a mistake. "These four {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (word)are difficult to speak out for many people. However, everyone makes mistakes. We should learn to accept mistakes. 

We all want to be perfect all the time, but that's impossible. It's normal for us {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (fall)down from time to time. Mistakes are part of being human. As long as we tryour best, that is enough. 

Every mistake we make can teach us {#blank#}3{#/blank#} lesson. Mistakes are our inherent (内在的) way of {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (train) ourselves to be excellent. We can learm something from even thesmallest mistakes. Mistakes mean that we are learning and becoming stronger as a person. 

Mistakes help us grow. Sometimes, making a mistake {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (seem)like the end ofthe world, but it's not. We can always try to fix it and start over. We can reflect on (认真思考)our problems and find the right ways to do things. Mistakes help us learn more about {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (we)and grow. Mistakes help us understand {#blank#}7{#/blank#} is right and wrong. 

One mistake doesn't dictate (决定) the rest of our life. Failing one test doesn't mean wewon't be {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (success) in the future. Mistakes {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (simple) encourage us tolearn and be strong. 

Don't be afraid {#blank#}10{#/blank#} making mistakes. Realizing that it is OK to make mistakeshelps us live a much happier life. 

Once, a gentleman （绅士） was traveling on a bus. ⑴He felt thirsty and got off at a station in search of water. However, before he got back to the bus, it left and he missed it. The man decided to find a place for a day's stay. He went to the nearby hotels to ask for a room but found none. 

At last he reached a small hut （小屋）. He asked the owner of the hut

⑤At night when it was about eight o'clock, the gentleman heard a knock at the door. The owner opened the door. A well—dressed man entered and asked the owner to pay his debts （债务）. 

The gentleman came to know that the owner was in need of money. The next morning he left some money and a note on the table in the room and left. 

When the owner saw the money, he found that there was also a note. It read, "You helped me but did not expect anything from me. Yesterday I heard the conversation between you and the stranger and came to know that you were in need of money. This is what you need. "

"It took several tries to finally create the lion's head.At first,the two layers of eyelashes(睫毛)were {#blank#}3{#/blank#}same size,but I later made the second layer smaller and {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (thin)to make it stand out."

Wu's passion for dough sculptures started more than a decade ago.At  first,he found it {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(difficulty)to make dough sculptures because of no basic training in art.To solve this,Wu observed people carefully and also looked for many art books. By improving {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(he)own art education,the pastry Wu made slowly became more lifelike.

Pastry lovers nationwide have learned to make such pieces from Wu,who {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(teach)more than h000 students.He likes to share his techniques and {#blank#}8{#/blank#}n ought)about puff pastries,and he is happy to see students introducing his creations at competitions.

"I used to focus on the techniques, {#blank#}9{#/blank#} now I think more about ways to combine traditional Chinese culture with  puff pastries,"Wu told China Daily,adding that it is good to see more young people becoming {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(interest)in Chinese pastries.

Shout loudly and run away if someone makes you go with {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (he) or lets you do the things you don't like.

Some strangers (陌生人) look very {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (friend), but never talk to them and never take gifts from them. If you do, you'll be {#blank#}6{#/blank#}great danger.

You may think it's not easy to keep safe. {#blank#}9{#/blank#} if you follow these {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(rule), you will be safe.

On a Saturday night in January, I was making my way to a sleepover at Nathan's house. This was going to be a wonderful adventure as I had never been to his place before. I had received the address, 39 Western Avenue, via text message. As I turned the corner and stepped onto Western Avenue, a large cloud moved in front of the moon, leaving a shadow (阴影) over everything.

In the dimness, I found it truly hard to see the house numbers clearly. However, not wanting to waste any time, I walked up the driveway of what I thought might be Nathan's house. I rang the bell and waited patiently, expecting someone to open the door and welcome me. But no one came. Thinking that perhaps they hadn't heard the first ring, I rang the bell again. After a few moments of waiting, I realized with a sinking feeling that I had made a mistake. I had gone to number 37 instead of 39.

Just then, the door of number 37 opened suddenly. The house was completely dark inside, so I could hardly see anything. Suddenly, there was a loud shout and a man rushed past me, running towards the street. Another man quickly followed him. They were in such a great hurry to leave that they dropped most of the things they were carrying. Curiosity (好奇心) getting the better of me, I picked up one of the items so that I could look at it more closely. To my surprise, it was a beautiful brooch. Right then, I understood what had been happening. These men must be thieves! Without hesitation (犹豫), I took out my phone and called the police.

I stood on the doorstep, anxiously waiting for what seemed like a long time. After five or ten minutes had passed, an unmarked police car finally arrived. Two policemen got out of the car. One of them immediately went into the house to look for clues while the other policeman asked me about the thieves. "You did extremely well," he said with admiration. "It was really ____ of you to interrupt (打断) those thieves and chase them away." I felt a sense of pride and relief knowing that I had done the right thing.
