Computers make people's lives really easy. People can use their computers for working, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (shop), or playing games. Laptop (笔记本) computers make people's lives even {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (easy) as people can take laptops anywhere. They can work, shop, or play games any place {#blank#}3{#/blank#} any time. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} there is a problem with laptops. People can {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (burn) by them!

People who sit with laptops on {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (they) legs for hours and hours have noticed they get dark marks on their legs. The hot laptop is toasting the skin. {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (doctor) have noticed more people show up with "toasted skin syndrome (综合症)". The marks are not {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (danger), but they look strange because they are just in one spot on people's legs.

Companies that make computers tell people not {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (let) warm computers touch bare skin for a long time. Wearing pants and putting a laptop's case under the laptop is {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (usual) enough to protect one's skin from the computer's heat.

It was Saturday morning when I was six years old. Christmas was still three weeks away, but everyone in town was 1 . Santa Claus, the Father Christmas, was coming in our small Irish town.

The main street was full of children. They cheered 2 as the band passed by. Santa followed on a white 3 . He waved to the crowd while shouting, "Ho! Ho! Ho!" But just as he passed me, his beard （胡须）fell off.  That was when I knew Santa wasn't real and started to4 . Tears were welling up in my eyes.

The man on the horse was my dad.5 ,1 wasn't surprised. Dad was always the most popular person in our town. He sang in church, acted in the theatre and even 6 on TV

Thirty years later, my dad visited me in New York City. It was his 7 time in the United States, and he felt like a very excited child.Atdinner, he told me a story.

Back in the 1950s, my dad left school at the age of 16 to work in a small 8. One summer, his Uncle Ben came home from the US. He told Dad to go to America with him. But my grandma wasn't 9 with the idea. My dad was the only breadwinner in the family. In the end, he stayed and never left.

At that moment, I understood that Dad was once young. Father Christmas also had dreams. But he10 those dreams for______his family. What would he have become if he had gone to New York? Could he have become a famous singer, actor or dancer?

Sadly, dad just worked in that small factory for 40 years.

① On April 25, 2024, China successfully sent the Shenzhou-18 spaceship with three astronauts to Tiangong space station for a six- month mission (任务). Among the three astronauts, Ye Guangfu is the mission commander (指挥官), with rich experience. 

② Ye was born in Septembe, 1980 and grew up in a small village in Sichuan. At the age of eight, his father died. Ye remembered how difficult it was for his family to make a living. Although it seemed impossible for him to try out to become an air force pilot at first, his love for flying and hard work got him into the Air Force Aviation University of China. 

③ In 2009, Ye decided to reach even higher and applied to (申请) be an astronaut. Becoming an astronaut, one must face many challenges. Ye even trained in caves (洞穴) in Europe where he had to find his way through dark and wet caves. This made him the first Chinese person to finish this training. Ye never gave up his dream. And his hard work paid off when he made his first journey into space on the Shenzhou-13 mission on October 16, 2021. 

④ Ye is always thankful for all the difficult times because they help him keep going and stick to(坚持) his dreams. Ye is really a role model who shows us the importance of strong perseverance (毅力).

Unlike being with one's parents, hanging out with friends is good for developing social (社交的) skills.  {#blank#}2{#/blank#}"If we have different ideas, we usually take a vote (投票) to decide where to go," said Yang Kaiyue, a 14-year-old schoolgirl from Anhui. 

In China, most kids like to go shopping, go to the cinema and have lunch or dinner together.  {#blank#}3{#/blank#}.  And kids in the US often play video games together or play sports, like basketball, in the park. 

What should you remember when you are hanging out with friends? {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

Choose a time when your friends are all free.  It is even more fun to play with a group of friends than just one. 

When you are hanging out at a friend's home, do not be afraid of making a mess (弄乱).  {#blank#}5{#/blank#} Share the money equally (相等地).  Do not let one person pay all the money unless it is a special treat (请客). 

Choose the place before you go so that you will not waste time deciding where to go.

 Answer: My first job was for a newspaper. After spending a few years there,I met a National Geographic photographer. He liked my photos and said I should send some to the magazine. So I did. Then I got a one-day job with the National Geographic. And after that,I got a nine-day job, and so on.

 Answer: To get into the National Geographic team, you have to give them something they don't have. It's not enough just to be a great photographer. You also need some special skills. You have to, for example, be a scientist, be able to dive under sea or spend several days in a tree.

 Answer: Advice? Well, work hard on every project. Take lots of pictures in different places. Look at others` photos thoughtfully and learn from them. And be curious (好奇的) about life. There's something to photograph everywhere.
