It used to be that people would drink coffee or tea in the morning to pick them up and get them going for the day. Then cola drinks hit the market. With lots of caffeine and sugar, these drinks soon became the pick-me-up of choice for many adults and teenagers. Now drink companies are putting out so-called "energy drinks." These drinks have the specific aim of giving tired customers more energy.

One example of a popular energy drink is Red Bull. The company that puts out this drink has reported that Red Bull is not a thirst quencher (解渴饮料). Instead, the drink is meant to revitalize(使恢复生机) a tired customer's body and mind. In order to do this, the makers of Red Bull, and other energy drinks, typically add vitamins and certain chemicals to their drinks. The added chemicals are like chemicals that the body naturally produces for energy. The vitamins, chemicals, caffeine, and sugar found in these drinks all seem to give a person energy.

Health experts are not so sure, though. For one thing, there is not enough evidence(证据) to show that all of the vitamins added to energy drinks actually raise a person's energy level. Another problem is that there are so many things in the drinks. Nobody knows for sure how all of the ingredients in energy drinks work together.

Dr. Brent Bauer cautions (告诚) people about believing all the claims (申明) energy drinks make. He says, "It may be true if you put these twelve things together, you will get a good result." However Dr. Bauer adds the mix of ingredients could also have a negative impact (负面影响) on the body "We just don't know at this point," he says.

Some people are very careful about everything they do. On the other hand, some people, especially teens, do things without thinking too much about the results. Why is this? 

Anna, a psychologist uses computer games to find out why some people are more likely to take risks. In one game, players are asked to click(点击) on a balloon on a computer screen. Every time they click, the balloon gets bigger. The bigger the balloon is, the larger the prize will be. But if the balloon gets too big, it'll be broken and the player will get nothing. 

Anna found that when teens played this game, a part of their brain called the striatum (纹状体) would become more active. It makes teens want to win. Another part of the brain, the prefrontal cortex (前额皮质), helps them control their decision-making process. 

It turns out that young people have more striatums and less prefrontal cortexes, which affects their ability to make careful decisions. You might have already guessed that teens break more balloons during the game than adults – mainly because they like to take risks more and don't take the time to think carefully. 

"The teen brain is like a car with a very strong engine, " Anna said. "Its brakes (刹 车) just don't work as well. "

JIUQUAN SATELLITE LAUNCH CENTER, China sends off its youngest-ever team for its space station on Thursday. It is part of the country's plan to put astronauts on the moon before 2030.

 The China Manned Space Agency said the average (平均的) age of the three-member team is the youngest since the launch of the space station. Their average age is 38, state media China Daily said. The three astronaut s are Tang Hongbo, Tang Shengjie and Jiang Xinlin. They will replace a team that has been on the station for six months. The new team will perform experiments in space medicine, space technology and other areas during their stay. And they will help to place and do possible repairs to equipment(设备) inside and outside the station.

 In 2022, the Chinese government built its own space station after it was not permitted to join the US led International Space Station. The Americans worried that the Chinese space program was under the control of the People's Liberation Army.

 China's first manned space mission(任务) in 2003 made it the third country after the former Soviet Union and the US to put a person into space using its own resources. This is an important step in exploring space, which makes all Chinese people proud.

 Although the American space program is believed to be far ahead of China at this time, China has made some important steps. They include bringing back samples (样本) from the moon's surface for the first time and landing a vehicle(运载工具) on the less explored far side of the moon. The US, meanwhile, aims to put astronauts back on the moon's surface by the end of2025.

 Beyond their moon exploration programs, the two countries have achieved significant milestones in space exploration by independently (独立地) landing vehicles on the surface of Mars. China now plans to follow the US in landing a spacecraft on an asteroid(小行星). It shows China's determination to become a leader in this competitive field. All Chinese people are full of expectations for the future development of exploring the universe.

Take a look outside, and you can find plants almost everywhere—high on the top of mountains, in the sea, in dark or sunny places. Plants have been on Earth for hundreds of millions of years and there are over 300, 000 kinds of plants. 

Plants go through a process (过程) of photosynthesis. In the sunlight, they produce sugar and O₂. Plants do it for a long time, so there is always sugar and O₂ being made. 

Plants have an important role in the world. They produce most of the world's O₂, and they are important in the food chain. Almost all living things depend on (依赖) plants to live. Animals depend on plants to get nutrients (养分) as well as O₂. Environmental factors (因素) like light, temperature and water can influence plants' growth. It's important to understand how these factors influence plants. 

Do you like living in a city? Look at the good sides. It is often easier to find work. And there is usually a choice (选择) of public transport (公共交通), so you don't need to own a car. Also, there are a lot of interesting things to do. For example, you can eat in good restaurants, pay a visit to museums and go to the theater and concert. What's more, when you want to relax, you can easily find a park to feed the ducks or just sit on the park bench and read a book. All in all, city life is full of interesting activities and you will never feel bored.

However, living in a city also has bad sides. For one thing, you must work hard and try to make as much money as you can. Because it is often very expensive to live in a city. Also, public transport is usually crowded, and even the parks can become full of people on Sundays. Besides, although there are many people in the city, it is still possible to feel lonely (孤独的).

I think young people like city life better because they love the excitement of the city and don't. mind the noise or the pollution.
