四川省潼江中学2017届九年级下学期英语入学考试试卷
Reading books is a good hobby for all kinds of reasons.
First, reading books is fun. You can always keep yourself amused if you like reading, especially when the weather is bad. It is a relaxing hobby, too. You can really become lost in a book.
Next, you can read a book almost anywhere: in a car, in a waiting-room, on a plane, in bed—even in the bath. All you need is a book! Reading is a convenient hobby as it is easy to stop and then start again.
Another good reason for reading books is that it is useful. If you read as a hobby, you will get better and better at it. This means that you will read faster and will become better at understanding what you read. As your reading improves, you will probably find your schoolwork become much easier. Many school subjects depend on good reading and, as you read, you learn more and more.
Some people say that reading is out of date. This is not true. You have to be able to read to use a computer and, the better you read, the better your computer skills will be. Reading is hardly out of date!
What other hobby could be more useful, or more enjoyable!

You can help prevent overeating by eating something about every three hours. Getting too hungry will get in your way to eat healthily. Make sure you know how many calories should come from snacks, and then aim for a healthy snack, such as an apple.
{#blank#}2{#/blank#}
One of the worst ways to lose weight is meal skipping. Many people think skipping meals is a great way to cut calories, but in the end, they fail to lose weight. You'll be more likely to overeat if you do not eat regular meals.

Keep a food diary. All you have to do is to put down what, when, and how much you eat in a notebook. A food diary will give you a clear picture of your eating habits so you can know the change you need to make to lose weight.
How do you talk with new people when meeting them if you want to leave a good impression? Here are some tips for you.
Tip 1 |
You have to show up, which can be a challenge for many of us. You can show up as an observer(旁观者) of other interesting people and let that be a learning experience for you, Before you start talking, it's important to just listen, even if you think you are a wise storyteller. If you are close to a group of people who are discussing a topic, watch their body language and see if they will let you join in their conversation. |
Tip2 |
You'd better go in the conversation with a couple of topics to keep it going, or questions to, ask if there is a short stop. Simple things like "How do you know the host?" and "How did you get there?" are always good conversation starters to a certain extent(在—定程度上). |
Tip 3 |
Don't fear silences. Awkward(令人尴尬的) silences are common part of talking with people. Just rush to fill them. If you don't want to go on with the conversation, just say you are going to get another drink or something to eat, and find another group to talk with. |
Tip 4 |
Relax If you cannot keep a conversation going, or you don't know what you should say next, give yourself a little time to clear your head. Relax, and then turn back into the discussion. |
When you meet new people, you always want to leave a good impression. But do you know how to be a good speaker? Here is some advice for you.
The first advice is that you have to show up and observe or listen to others even if you can tell stories {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. If you go near a group of people, watch their body language to see if they will offer you a {#blank#}2{#/blank#} to talk with them. The second advice for you is that some topics should be {#blank#}3{#/blank#} before the conversation. Next, you don't need to be {#blank#}4{#/blank#} of silences. You can rush to fill them or leave for another group. The last is relaxing. If you can't keep a conversation going or you {#blank#}5{#/blank#} what you should say next, take a break and clear your head, then return to the discussion.
