Today is my birthday and I am having a great time at the zoo with my dad. 

There are many lovely animals in the zoo, like monkeys, pandas and giraffes. I see some people feeding them with our food. I'm going to fed them. "It is not right to feed them with our food, " he says. 

"Why shouldn't I do so?" I turn to my dad and ask him. 

"Because it can make them sick when they are not getting the right food. For example, chocolate is children's favorite, but it is not good for many animals. So we should protect them and feed them with their own food. " he explains. 

"Sorry, Dad. Now I know it is important to understand that animals need to eat right. I won't do that again because it is bad for them. And thank you for telling me that. "

My dad smiles and says, "Good for you, Jim. I am so happy that you are learning to think about the result before you do something. We can help the animals by being responsible for their health. What's more, instead of waiting for someone to feed them. I think you should keep in mind that animals are our friends, and we should help them to live freely and naturally. "

I am glad to have such a meaningful conversation with my dad, because he teaches me how to take care of animals.

Finally, I got to school. The teacher introduced me to the whole class. Then he asked me to sit {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(在······旁边) a girl. I felt so nervous. Soon the bell rang for the geography class. Their textbooks were different! Just when I wanted to ask the teacher for help, a geography book with a national {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(旗帜) on its cover was in front of me." Let's share," the friendly girl next to me said." Hi, I'm Carrie. I'm {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(加拿大人)." To my surprise, it was the girl that I helped this morning. Later on, we became good friends.

Li Shizhen, a well-known medical scientist of the Ming Dynasty, is seen as a great master of medicine in China. He put all his time and heart into 1 , only to save the dying and cure the sick.

Li was born in 1518 in Hubei. Both his grandfather and father were doctors. Li's grandfather was a country doctor who travelled from place to place with a bag of herbs (药草). Such doctors were called Lingyi (bell doctors), because they could show their arrival by 2 a bell. Li's father was also a famous doctor in their 3 area. So it was easy for the people there to find the doctor. 

From childhood, Li went to the mountains with his father to 4 herbs, gaining wide knowledge about animals, plants and medicine. Although Li's father hoped his son could get a government job, Li failed the exam three times. He then turned his 5 to medicine.

At the age of 33, Li became 6 for curing Prince Zhu Houkun's son. A few years later, he was invited to work at the Imperial Medical Institute (太医院) in Beijing. During that time, he 7 many ancient medical texts, and noticed a mess in the naming and categorization (分类) of herbs. To 8 it, he decided to leave his job to write a book about herbs.

After that, Li travelled to many places and got much first-hand experience. He also read hundreds of medical books and different kinds of herbs. After 27 years of efforts, his first draft (初稿) of Ben Cao Gang Mu was 9 in 1578. The book is highly detailed and well-organized and is considered one of the greatest scientific 10 of China.

Last winter holiday, I went to an island with my parents. The island is 142, 000 {#blank#}1{#/blank#} metres. We had breakfast at {#blank#}2{#/blank#} 9:00 am. The {#blank#}3{#/blank#} there were different from those in cities. I took lots of pictures there.
