Theme Parks

    Parks provide people{#blank#}1{#/blank#} a place to amuse{#blank#}2{#/blank#} for a while. In recent decades, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}, many parks have been designed to provide{#blank#}4{#/blank#} (entertain). We call them theme parks. Then new parks are usually huge places and have a {#blank#}5{#/blank#} of things to see and do. Theme Parks have a certain theme—that the whole parks are based {#blank#}6{#/blank#}. The {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (old) theme park in the world is Disneyland. It seemed like a magical world which can make your dream come true. But if you are interested in traditional culture and history, go to Dollywood, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} you can have fun {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (learn) all about America's historical southeastern culture, then you can go to Camelot Park, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} world of fantasy about ancient England.

    When I was in primary school, I didn't like going to school. I had {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (difficult) in reading and writing and I always could not answer the teacher's questions {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (correct). I cried a lot because I {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (laugh) at by my classmates. My parents would always get mad at me. I felt very upset and didn't have any interest{#blank#}4{#/blank#} study.

    But then one day, I decided{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (change) my attitude towards study. {#blank#}6{#/blank#}I ended up paying more attention in class and I started to practice my vocabulary and spelling skills. Also, I always {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (go) to my teachers to ask for help when I had any trouble. I started to do better in Grade 3. {#blank#}8{#/blank#}I was in Grade 4, I was still improving. By Grade 5, I had become the top student in class.

    Now as I am {#blank#}9{#/blank#} senior high school student, I know it might be difficult at first. But I like my past in primary school, I know if I keep working and don't give up I will be {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (success).

    Harry is an American businessman. His job requires him to do a lot of traveling. In the past six months he has made nine trips, {#blank#}1{#/blank#}purpose is to attend meetings and make presentations. Harry loves to travel and feels each country has a charm of its own. After graduation, Harry decided to make travel part of his career. He wanted to experience different cultures of other {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(country). He was dreaming of{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(work) for an international company. Then his dream came true. Now he's working for a German hi-tech company.

    People today take lots of photos. Some photographs are really memorable. They either capture important events, such as birthday parties or weddings,{#blank#}1{#/blank#} show beautiful places. Years later, people may look at these special photos to remember {#blank#}2{#/blank#} past.

    However, how did people record important moments without cameras long ago? Some people told {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (story) about old times, and others wrote down {#blank#}4{#/blank#} they remembered. There were also a lot of people {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (make) special drawings to help them recall important moments. Among those people were Native Americans of the Lakota tribe.

    Every year, Lakota leaders decided which event was most important. A Lakota {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (art) was then asked to draw a special picture of that event. Because each year's picture was decided on during the winter, the drawings became {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (know) as winter counts.

    For a long time, winter counts were drawn on animal skins. Later, the drawings {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (do) on paper. The pictures told the history of the tribe. Each year, the newest winter count was added {#blank#}9{#/blank#} the Lakota collection of pictures from {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (early) times. That helped people keep track of the years. Today, winter counts are important records of the Lakota's past.
