While I was waiting in line at a coffee shop earlier, a woman drove alongside the queue in a mobility scooter (踏板车). There was only a1 space between the line of people and the tables, which she2to drive along. She drove over my foot and didn't 3saying nothing at all.

    I got annoyed and expected she would have 4, but then I just decided to5 it and got down to selecting which pastry (点心) to go with my coffee. The lady and I ended up sitting at adjacent (邻近的) tables. She was on the end of a row so that she could park her6. After about half an hour, when she had7 her coffee, she got up and back onto her scooter. It8 start. She tried to turn the key several times9 she telephoned the place she purchased it from.

    I worried about my personal image and how I could be remembered during my boyhood. In the fifth grade, there seemed to be only one 1－to be cool. In the sixth grade, suddenly, there were two choices: be cool, or be invisible. 2 one day, when a teacher had us fill out a questionnaire with 3 questions, I found the4 option.

Do not spoil (搞糟) what you have by desiring (渴求) what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once 19 the things you hoped for. What may appear as bad fortune (运气) may 20 be the door that is just waiting to be opened.

    I always come across random acts of kindness in my life. Many years ago, I was 1Costa Rica when I found myself in an 2situation: my credit cards and bank cards went out of 3 abroad, and I only had $5 to my 4.

    I had no way to get money. I didn't know anybody in this country. I only knew basic Spanish, and besides the cash the only 5I had was a return ticket to my country in almost two 6. Back then, there was no such thing as mobile phones, and7email was very limited. To find help, I decided to go to the countryside. With the only coins I had, I 8the bus terminal(终点站)and found a village, which 9almost the exact amount. About 4 hours later, I arrived at Santa Rosa Abajo at midnight.

    I knocked door to door,10in my very poor Spanish that I was a foreigner travelling in Costa Rica with no money but I 11to stay here for over ten days. I begged them for a 12－such as cooking , cleaning and looking after their kids, anything like that. Everybody 13, “oh my, but so poor are we that we have no 14 food or space. Maybe you can try the next 15.” And they'd point me to another house.

    16, I arrived at a Chinese restaurant. The owner of the restaurant was very 17. She gave me food and called the Red Cross to come to 18me. With the help of the Red Cross, I spent my19days in Costa Rica.

    This is one of the best trips I've ever had, because I realized that when you're in a position to be able to 20, it actually makes you feel happy.

Though new term had begun for weeks, the new girl Molly still remained 1 around her classmates. Now she was sitting at the picnic table alone. She seemed unsure of what to do or say, yet I could see her eyes longing for 2 .

Brianna, the class clown, was standing near the playground making the other students laugh, as usual. "Brianna, Molly looks awfully 3 . Would you invite her to join us?" I said.
