It has been nearly 5 years since Chang'e-4, a Chinese spacecraft, made the first soft landing on the far side of the moon at 10:26 am on 3rd January 2019. It is the first time that a spacecraft has made it. The far side is the part of the moon that always faces away from the earth.

After it landed on the ground, the spacecraft took the first photo of the"dark side"of the moon, and sent it back to the earth through the Queqiao relay satellite(中继卫星).The scientists launched the satellite into space in May, 2018.

"What we know about the far side of the moon is from orbiters (轨道飞行器), from Russia, the US, European countries, China and India,"Andrew Coates, a professor of Physics at University College London, told a reporter. China sent Chang'e-4 into space from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in December,2018. Sending a spacecraft to the far side of the moon isn't easy, because the far side is covered in craters(火山口). Some of its mountains are higher than Qomolangma, the highest mountain on the earth.

What's more, we can't see the far side because it takes the moon about 28 days to move around the earth with the same side always facing our planet. Direct communication with the earth is impossible on the far side of the moon, so communications must go through a communication satellite. That was why scientists launched the Queqiao relay satellite.

Since last year, short videos have become popular online. Many people make and share short videos on popular video apps like Tik Tok and Kuaishou . On these popular apps, you can even add music and special effects to your videos. A video usually lasts 15 seconds to a few minutes. It shows people's daily activities like cooking, exercising and singing. So it can attract many people.

Teenagers enjoy these videos very much. More than 50 percent of junior high school students enjoy watching these short videos. About 47 percent of them have shared their own videos on Tik Tok, according to a recent report by the China National Youth Palace Association.

The videos let teenagers see a lot of funny and exciting things. Many teenagers like to share the fun things they do with others as well. For example, a student named Xiaogianyu has shared videos about her dancing. They make her win many fans.

However, the videos can also cause trouble. Some students watch short videos for too long and do not have enough time to study. Besides, there are some videos that are not appropriate for teenagers. They may learn bad things from them.

To solve these problems, Tik Tok added a new function in April. The app won't work if someone uses it for over two hours a day. In the same month, the government asked companies to control these apps and take out harmful videos. The apps have been checked and controlled more strictly since then, the Beijing News reported.

In Northwest China's Gansu Province, there are camel traffic lights at Mingsha Mountain and Yueya Spring, a scenic spot (景点) surrounded by sand dunes (沙丘). A red camel shows "stop" and a green camel shows "go". The special traffic lights, first designed to reduce the traffic jam in the desert, got much media attention in 2023 and have become a popular tourist attraction. 

According to a report, more than 3. 7 million tourists visited the spot in 2023, with 42 percent choosing camel rides. 

The quick increase in tourists needs more local camel herders (牧民). Zhao, 42, is an experienced camel owner from the Yueya Spring Village, who owns 21 camels. The rapid development of tourism has brought hope for the villagers. And they began to do the camel walking business at the scenic spot. 

In the busy season in summer, the scenic area is home to about 2, 000 camels. Each camel undertakes three trips a day. 

"Our village used to be poor, but now we are rich because of the camel walking business. They are like family members to us. In summer, we give them nice food and help them cool down. We also take them to the vet for annual check-ups in winter. " Zhao said.
