Almost all of us have had a flag raising experience.Hold it，then raise it.It's so easy.But doing so on the moon can be really difficult. 

There is no air on the moon，which leads to the first problem with flag raising—there's no wind to keep the flag flying. 

In the earlier Chang'e missions，the national flag of China was painted on the surface of the moon landers and rovers（月球着陆器和月球车）.In the Chang'e-5 mission，a special flag display system was invented.Since the Chang'e-5 didn't carry an astronaut to the moon，the work had to be done by a robotic arm.Researchers worked hard to make the display system weigh only 1 kilogram. The material of the flag is also a big problem.Normal flags on the earth would be broken or even destroyed quickly on the moon because of the radiation from the sun and huge temperature differences during the day and night. 

It took the researchers more than a year to find the ideal material.It was developed by Professor Xu Weilin and his team from Wuhan Textile University.It could help the flag keep its color and shape in the environment on the surface of the moon.

It's not an easy job to know ourselves. To help students do this important task, schools across China are providing more classes and activities on self- knowledge. 

Liu Yue, a teacher from Chengdu Yucai Middle School, has recently given her students a useful tool. "It's called the Johari Window, developed by two US psychologists, " said Liu. "It has four areas about one's self: open area(that everyone knows about), hidden area(that only you know), blind spot(that everyone knows except you) and unknown area (that nobody knows). Using this tool, students did a good job seeing themselves through a new lens(透镜). "

"I really want to know about my blind spot, " said eighth- grade r Yang Manfei. "So I did a survey with my friends. " The results showed that Yang easily gets worried and nervous and impatient because of procrastination(拖 延 ). "That's a bad habit I've never realised!" Yang said. 

"I find the unknown area most amazing, " said Sun Boyin. "It means everyone has lots of potential (潜力). " When Sun entered middle school, he was not good at maths. "But I set a goal and did lots of maths exercises. Now I'm much better at maths. The unknown part of my maths ability is getting clearer!" Sun said. 

When it came to the hidden area, most students kept silent. "I'm scared to show my secrets deep down," said Li Yixuan. "Then one classmate stood up and said his favourite cartoon is Tom and Jerry. I thought: Am I brave enough to show my childish hobby? Perhaps not. I want my classmates to see me as a mature(成熟的) person, not a silly kid. But then I realised that I don't find that classmate silly. I think he is brave to be himself. "

"Show yourself and make yourself better — that's the best lesson I learned," Li said. 

 When you are reading something in English, you may often see a new word. If you want to get its meaning(意思), you can just guess and you can also ask your teacher or friends for help. But, what's the best way to know it?

A dictionary is your best friend when learning English. You need an English-Chinese dictionary. It will tell you a lot about the word you don't know. For example(例如), it tells you how to read this word, what it means in Chinese and how to use this word. But there are so many English words in the dictionary and how can you know where the word is? There is a way to look for it. 

In the dictionary, you can first see the words beginning with the letter A, then B, C, D, E… That means, if there are two words, "desk" and "hour", " desk" will be before "hour"; "story" before "Sunday", "tomato" before "tomorrow" etc(等等). 

The English-Chinese dictionary will be your good friend. I hope you will often use it in your English learning. 

①Do you find it hard to say"no" when someone asks you for help? Do you feel sorry when you have to tell people that you really can't help them? And do you often pretend(假装) to agree with people even though you think differently? If you answered"yes" to these questions, you may be a"people-pleaser".

②Being friendly and helpful is a good thing. It helps you build friendships. However, trying to please(取悦) others without considering your own happiness can make you stressed. Luckily, there are some steps that you can take to stop being a people-pleaser.

③To start with, it's important to know your limits(限度) and make"boundaries"(界限) in your life. Be clear about what you would like to do. You can also tell others that you are only available for a certain period of time.

④When someone asks you for help, tell hum or her that you need some time to think about it. Use this time to ask yourself: Do you really want to do this? How much time will it take? By giving yourself some time to think, you' ll be better able to truly decide if it's something you have the interest and time to do.

⑤People always try to please others because they have little confidence(自信) in themselves. They don't consider their own need and interest. In this situation, you can try meaningful self-talk. Remind yourself that you have dreams, too. You don't have to waste your time to do things that don't bring you joy.

⑥Making a sudden change can be hard, so start by taking small steps. You may, for example, send a message to say"no". Then, continue to say"no" face to face. Practice this in kinds of situations, such as talking to a salesperson or ordering at a restaurant.

⑦Stopping being a people-pleaser doesn't mean you have to give up being kind and helpful altogether. You can still do good things— but on your own situations.
