A lot of boys and girls in western countries are wearing the same clothes, and many boys have long hair, so it is difficult to tell whether they are boys or not.

      One day an old man went for a walk in a park in Washington and when he was tired, he sat down on a chair by a swimming pool. A young person was standing on the other side of the pool.

     “Oh!” the old man said to the person sitting next to him, “Do you see the person with the loose clothes and long hair? Is it a boy or a girl?”

     “A girl,” said the person, “She is my daughter.”

     “Oh!” the old man said quickly, “Please forgive me. I don't know that you are her mother. ”

     “I'm not,” said the person, “I'm her father.”

    On the first evening, the three of us were tired after walking for about eight hours. We soon fell asleep. In the morning, I was surprised to find the bag of food had been open.

    “Bears,” said Joe, “we should hang the food in a tree tonight.”

    Later that day we stopped in a beautiful field by a river. We put up the tent and fell asleep. During the night the bears came again. This time they took the food from the tree.

    “Bears can climb trees. They can smell food from a long way away,” said Ben.

    “We must keep the camp clean. Bears must think our rubbish is food,” I said. “And we should make lots of noise, too. If they know where we are, they may not come any closer,” said Joe.

    “But if you see a bear,” said Ben, “you mustn't make any sudden moves or make a sound, and you mustn't run either. No one can run faster in the forest than a bear. And remember we don't have a gun to keep us safe.” That night, we went to sleep ... or we tried to.

    The next day, while the others were resting, I went for a walk in the forest. Suddenly, I saw a baby bear playing with some sticks and stones. He looked so soft and friendly, and I thought, “If I reach out, I can just touch him.”

    There was a loud noise behind me.

    I didn't dare to move, not even turn my head. There was another loud noise. The baby bear looked up, and ran towards me. I turned pale and he ran past me into the woods.

    I couldn't turn round until a few minutes later. Then I saw the baby bear and his huge mother walking away.

    I ran back to my friends. I have never run so fast.

    For the next 10 days, every time there was sudden noise, my blood went cold.

    Mike is a factory worker. He is often very tired after a day's work. His wife, Jenny, has no job, so she stays at home to cook the meals. Every day he can have his dinner when he gets home from his factory.  

    One day, Mike came home very late because he was very busy in the factory. He was very hungry when he got home. He was not happy when he found his dinner was not ready. He was very angry with his wife. He shouted at her, "I'm going out to eat in a restaurant." "Wait for five minutes，" said his wife. "Why?     A photo of a boy who arrived at school with a head full of icicles(冰柱）has drawn widespread attention to children from poor rural families.

    "After walking more than 4 kilometers through the freezing snow, he arrived with his hair and eyebrows completely frozen, causing laughter among his 16 classmates," said Fu Heng, the school's principal, who uploaded(上传) Wang's photos on Monday morning. Fu added that his classrooms do not have heating because of a lack of money.

    After hearing Wang's story, the Yunnan China Youth Development Foundation offered a public donation(捐赠) for children from poor families on Tuesday. It has promised to give each needy child 500 yuan ($75) to help them stay warm in winter. By 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, the provincial foundation bad collected over 300,000 yuan in public donations according to their websites.

    Wang, who has been nicknamed "Snowflake Boy"(冰花男孩）by netizen (网友),became well-known online. By Wednesday morning, his picture had been 'liked" more than 260,000 times on Sina Weibo. "Many children in cities don't have the strong willpower of this boy. I hope all his efforts will be rewarded(回报)," a netizen wrote on Sina Weibo.

    The name Fuman translates as "full of happiness", but Wang does not come from a rich family. He lives in a mud hut(土坯房) with his grandmother and elder sister, and seldom sees his parents because they are migrant workers in other cities.

    "I love school. We can have bread and milk for lunch, and we learn lots of things in class," Wang said. His village now has electricity and tap water, "and my family is getting help to build a new house close to the school", he said. "I think our life will get better."

    The doctor handed me my medicine and said sorry to me because his register had already closed. He asked if I would mind using the register at the front of the store. I told him not to worry and walked up front. One person was in line ahead of me, a little girl no more than seven with a bottle of medicine on the counter. She held a little green and white coin purse closely to her chest.

    The purse reminded me of the days when, as a child, I liked dressing myself up in my grandma's clothes. One day, wearing her large clothes and hat, I went out to buy something. I gave a fake dollar to the shop owner, but he handed back some real coins for my purse. "Keep the change!" he told me with a smile.

    "That's OK," I answered, smiling. "Just keep the change!"

Scientists say they recently invented the world's tiniest remote—controlled robots. The robots are small enough to sit on the side of a coin. They don't have any power of their own，and they can be controlled from a distance by using lasers（激光器）. The scientists say one day robots like these may be able to work in areas too small for tools. The robots don't move very quickly. But because of their tiny size，they're also not too slow. It takes the robots about 20 seconds to cover 1 centimeter. 

Right now the robots aren't all that useful. All they can do is to move，and they need to be in a place where lasers can shine on them to do that. But the scientists say these robots are an important step toward inventing more helpful tiny robots. 

The researchers say that one day tiny robots like these might be able to work in very small spaces. It's possible that they could build very tiny machines，or perhaps even travel inside the human body to help do with medical problems.
