A"Gap Year" is a period of time when a student takes a break before going to university. It is often spent travelling or working. It can give young people useful learning experiences and new skills. It's very popular in foreign countries.{#blank#}1{#/blank#} 

 Although you don't have to go abroad to experience gap years, most gap year students catch the chance to travel abroad. You are able to work out who you are and what you are for. The experiences of different cultures offer you interesting lessons. You can learn more about the world and get to know yourself better.{#blank#}2{#/blank#} 

A gap year is not only a time to take a vacation, but also a time to face challenges. Gap year students usually work, volunteer or take service projects. You have to learn how to get along in the real world. This process isn't always easy, but it is an important part of growing up. Only in this way can you enjoy life and have fun.{#blank#}3{#/blank#} 

 There's a common thought that gap years are only for rich students, but it's not true. Actually, taking a gap year can save your money. Gap year students often take a part-time job. Besides, at the end of a gap year, students are much more likely to know what to study in college. Clear learning goals can keep the students working hard instead of wasting time and money playing.{#blank#}4{#/blank#} 

 Imagine an admission officer trying to admit(录取) only one between two students. Both of them are excellent and have high grades. However, one student has much practical experience or has volunteered in his vacation. Who do you think the admission officer will choose?{#blank#}5{#/blank#} 

    Last Monday, we had an  {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (interest) and funny English class. In the class, we had  {#blank#}2{#/blank#} discussion about TV shows in small  {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (group). Here is what Li Dong, one of my classmates, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (think) of some TV shows.

    "For soap operas, I can't {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (real) stand (忍受) them. They are long and  {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (bore). Some  {#blank#}7{#/blank#} meaningless. They usually make me want to sleep. {#blank#}8{#/blank#} I love sports shows such as football games and basketball games. I like watching the World Cup on TV best. I think all the games are exciting. {#blank#}9{#/blank#} do I think of talent shows? I like them. I think I can learn a lot of things from them. What about talk shows? I don't mind them. {#blank#}10{#/blank#} there are no my favorite shows on TV, sometimes I watch talk shows. But if there is a sports game, I choose to watch the sports game."

    Once upon a time there was a beautiful bird. She had a brother. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} of them lived happily in the forest.

    One day, a hunter (猎人) came to the forest and {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the two birds. He went to the palace and said to the king (国王), "Dear king, I caught this {#blank#}3{#/blank#}of birds in the forest" The king was happy. All the people in the palace were friendly to {#blank#}4{#/blank#}They became popular. The elder bird said to her brother, "We have fun here." Her brother answered, "It's our luck."

    But one day, the hunter brought a monkey {#blank#}5{#/blank#} Kala to the palace. The king and the other people were happy to see Kala. After Kala arrived, people {#blank#}6{#/blank#}the birds. They sometimes did not even get food for the birds. The birds knew why. The elder bird said to her brother, "Have patience (耐心) {#blank#}7{#/blank#}the bad days are over."

    One day, while the king's son was {#blank#}8{#/blank#} Kala' s show, he got frightened (惊吓的) and cried. Hearing his cry, all the people ran there and took {#blank#}9{#/blank#} Kala. The next day, they {#blank#}10{#/blank#} the monkey to the forest.

    The bad days of the birds were over.

    It was Mother's Day, but the young mother was not happy,{#blank#}1{#/blank#}she was far away from her parents.{#blank#}2{#/blank#} the morning of Mother's Day, she phoned her mother, and her mother told her{#blank#}3{#/blank#} about the beautiful flowers in the garden. She was very happy, so her husband and her two daughters wanted to pick(采摘) some flowers for her. And they {#blank#}4{#/blank#}to the countryside.

    They got to a small hill and saw a lot of beautiful flowers. The young mother was very happy, she picked some flowers. On their {#blank#}5{#/blank#} home, they saw an old woman sitting in a chair alone. They stopped the car and the young mother walked to her and put the flowers in her {#blank#}6{#/blank#}. The old woman thanked her again and again.

    When the young mother came{#blank#}7{#/blank#}, her children asked her" Who is that old woman? Why did you give our flowers to her?"

    "I don't know her," the young mother said." but it's Mother's Day today, I have all of you, and I also have my mother, I feel happy, I give her the flowers, I hope she can feel happy,{#blank#}8{#/blank#}."
