About one year ago, a couple with three children moved into the apartment next door to me. I never heard any noise from the children. but I often heard the parents 1 shouting at the kids, not in a nice tone, but in a(n) 2 one.

    Suddenly my mobile phone rang. “Where are you?” the urgent voice demanded on my phone.

    The woman on the other end of the phone had1news—news that would  change  my  life forever.  Apparently  my 2was on his way home at lunchtime3he suffered an unexpected heart attack.4a neighbor's sharp eyes had spotted him. By now it was after 1pm and Ueli was on his way to the nearest hospital. It turned out that,5a huge effort by a large team of medical staff, nine hours after the6, Ueli, the father of two of my sons, died.

    But Ueli's story didn't7there. Ever since I met him, he had8that, should he die before me, I must ensure that if it were possible his9would be donated. So on that awful night I10the medical staff  to  help  make  his  wishes 11.   Once the 12were made, I thought that I had honored Ueli's final act of selflessness and would hear no more of it.

    Some time later,13, I received a letter telling me that the corneas(角膜) had been successfully transplanted into the eyes of two young women who would benefit greatly from improved vision. What a14it was to know that this generous man's15 would have such a positive impact on these women. But the best news was16to come. More than a year after Ueli died, a lovely card arrived in the mail from the organ donor organization,17me that a young man who may not have lived much longer had successfully18Ueli's heart valve(心瓣膜).

    What happiness I have! I know Ueli would have been extremely19to have had a part in20this young man's life and ensuring that he would now pursue his own dreams with much improved health. Now I can forever say, “Rest in peace, Ueli; you'll be remembered—even by strangers.”

    My 8-hour sleepy voyage finally came to an end after I stepped out of the airport. 1 on the bus, I was waiting anxiously for it to start.

    A woman beside me and her daughter both seemed 2. She told me that her daughter had an upset stomach and would3 continuously; 4, the mother had lost her purse. Apart from a significant 5 of money, the purse also had her phone and a phone number of an important 6. She would meet him for discussing a(n) 7 matter which had to be 8 by tomorrow morning.

    I handed her my cellphone without 9 and told her that she could make any 10 she wanted. I also produced a bottle of water I had in my bag to relieve her daughter of her 11.     I got the idea to start Amazon 16 years ago. I came across the fact 2 the Internet usage was growing at 2,300 percent per year.     How far would you go to make a good impression at a new job? A college student in Alabama walked 22 kilometers in the1to get to his new job.

    Walter Carr's2broke down the night before starting a new job at Bellhops, a furniture moving company. Several attempts as he made, Carr3 to find a ride. Knowing he couldn't afford to4it, he decided to walk and5how long it would take to walk to the job in Pelhain — 32 kilometers away. He left at midnight so that he could6it to the customer's house on time.

    Carr had reportedly walked about 22 kilometers before the local police7in to help the young man. After hearing his8, they took him to breakfast. Then, they gave him a9to the home of customer Jenny Lamey, whom he was 10to help move that morning, before the rest of the11arrived.

    "I asked Walter if he wanted to go12 and rest until everyone else arrived," said Lamey in a Facebook post, "He13 and said he could go ahead and get started." So, the family and Carr began 14 up the home, chatting along the way.

    He told Lamey that he and his mother15 from New Orleans to Birmingham after losing their 16 in Hurricane Katrina, an extremely destructive and deadly one that17 the Gulf Coast of the U.S. in 2005.

    Even though it was only October, my students were already whispering about Christmas plans. With each passing day everyone became more 1, waiting for the final school bell. Upon its2  everyone would run for their coats and go home, everyone except David.

    David was a small boy in ragged clothes.     Tears filled my eyes 18I looked at the proud dirty face that I had rarely given19to. After that Christmas, David and I became good friends and I never forgot the meaning 20the little empty box set on my desk.
