I was walking around in a Big Bazar store doing a shopping, when I saw a cashier talking to a boy who didn't have enough money to buy what he wanted. The little boy was still holding the doll 1 his hand. At that time, I walked toward him and I asked him who he 2 to give this doll to. “It's the doll 3 my sister loved most. I wanted to 4 her for her Birthday.” His eyes were so sad while saying this.

    “My Sister has gone to be with God. Daddy says that Mommy is going to see God very soon too, so I thought that she could 5 the doll with her to give it to my sister.” My heart 6 stopped. Then he showed me a very nice 7 of him. He then told me “I want mommy to take my picture with her so my sister won't 8 me, I love my mommy 9 I wish she doesn't have to leave me.”

    I quickly 10 for my wallet and said to the boy. “Suppose we 11 again, just in case you do have enough money 12 the doll?” I added some of my money to his, without him seeing and we started to count it.

    The little boy said, “God heard my 13 last night. Thank God for giving me enough 14 to buy it.”

    Then I remembered two days before a local 15 reported an 16 in which a woman and a little girl were badly 17.The little girl died right away, and the mother was left in a 18 state. Was this the family of the little boy?

    Two days 19 , I read in the newspaper that the woman had passed away.I couldn't stop myself from going to the 20 . Teary-eyed, I felt that my life had been changed forever.

Sharing Hope with Refugees(难民)

    The night before she had a test at school, eight-year-old Trisha Rao was worried. To give herself 1 , she wrote a poem about believing in herself. Her words gave her courage, and she 2 the test.

    One day while listening to the news with her father, Trisha learned about the war in Syria. Conditions in the country were tough, and many people were leaving for safer regions. "I was 3 that they lost their homes and some of them lost their family," Trisha said. "They didn't have enough money to buy lunch even."

    It made Trisha think. If the poem she had written the night before her test had given her 4 , maybe it could do the same for the refugee children.

    Trisha worked on her poem and turned it into a book called Believe in Yourself. It's the story of a puppy named sunshine and his father, Papa Dog. The dogs travel around the jungle. From fellow animals, they learn 5 about persistence, teamwork, loyalty, hard work, courage, and kindness.

    Trisha illustrated (加插图) the book, too. With the help of her mother and a family friend, she 6 the book in English and Arabic.

    For a family vacation, Trisha asked 7 she and her family could go to Turkey. Many Syrian children who lost their homes in the war were living there now, and Trisha wanted to 8 their spirits up.

    Her family got in touch with Support to Life, an agency that provides emergency relief after a disaster. 9 the group's assistance, Trisha was able to meet refugee children and read her book to them.

    For every book she sells, Trisha gives away a free copy of Believe in Yourself to children around the world. Her purpose is simple but 10: "I hope it will give them hope and that they will learn many lessons from the book and believe in themselves."

    As a child, I was very shy. I wanted to be 1, but lacked confidence. When I discovered 2, I found something I was good at. I began to be 3by my friends and this gave me the desire to climb harder and higher 4. I discovered that nothing was impossible if I could find the 5to try.

    Both individual determination and teamwork are 6to success when climbing. You need to rely on the 7of your team and share in the achievement. But personal focus and determination to keep 8despite any difficulty is an important 9to team success.

    My greatest achievement in climbing is being the first ever to 10the 5,000-foot Troll Wall in Norway, whose rock face is the 11and most vertical(垂直) in Europe. A stone which drops from the summit will touch nothing until it 12on the valley floor one mile below.

    13our climb, the experts in Europe had said it was 14to climb the Troll Wall. But with three companions, I decided to 15. It took ten days to make the climb and we slept on ledges(岩石架) no more than a foot wide. But I 16.

    Afterwards, I said to myself, “17I can do that, I can do anything.” Some years later, I succeeded in climbing Mount Everest-the highest mountain in the world.

    18to me is not hanging on a rope on the side of a mountain, but is just one field where adventurous people can constantly 19themselves. If we look at every day as an adventure, we can challenge ourselves and continue to grow throughout our 20. That is the final adventure.

    I still remember the first day of school our professor introduced a little old lady named Rose to us. I was curious about what might have 1  her to be taking on this challenge at her age. "I always 2 having a college education and now I'm getting one!" she told me. I like listening to this "time machine" as she 3 her wisdom and experience with me.

    At the end of the term, we 4 Rose to make a speech to our football team. As she began to deliver her 5 speech, she dropped her note card on the 6 . A little embarrassed, she simply said, "I'm sorry. This whiskey is 7 me! I'll never get my speech back in order so let me just tell you what I know." As we laughed, she 8 her throat and began, "We do not stop 9 because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing. There are some secrets to staying  10 , being happy, and achieving success. You have to laugh and find 11 every day. Have a dream. When you 12your dreams, you die. We have so many people walking around who are 13 and don't even know it! There is a huge 14  between growing older and growing up.  15 you are nineteen years old and lie in bed for one full year and don't do one 16 thing, you will turn twenty years old. That doesn't 17 any talent or ability. The elderly usually don't have18 for what they did, but rather for things they did not do."

    One week after graduation, Rose 19 peacefully in her sleep. We will remember the wonderful woman who taught us by example that it's never too late to be all we can20 be.

    As she waited at the edge of the ice for her music to start, Peggy took a quick look at her father standing nearby with a group of parents and teachers. He smiled at her. Then she 1 out at the audience, 2 to see her mother. These two, Alvert and Doris Flemint, had 3 all the way from California more than 2,000 miles away, to see their 4 compete in this sports meet in Cleveland, Ohio.

    The music 5 and Peggy moved onto the ice, letting the music 6 her along into her turns, and she began skating with much 7 in herself. The cold fear she always had in the 8 seconds before skating onto the ice was 9. She was feeling the movement of the 10 and letting it carry her. She skated easily, 11 did some jumps, a final turn and her performance was 12.

    The crowd loved it and cheered 13 she skated off the ice. "Nice job," said one of the other 14. It was the remark that 15 came after a free-skating performance. But what should the 16 say? Standing beside her father, Peggy 17 for the scoring to be finished. On all sides were other young skaters, some waiting 18 alone, others with a parent. Shortly before 10 o'clock the results were 19.
