Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy (富有) and wise (聪明). This is an old English saying. It means that we should go to bed early at night and get up early in the morning. If we do, we shall be healthy. We shall also be rich and clever.

Is this true? Perhaps it is. The body must have enough sleep. Children of your age need ten hours' sleep every night. If you go to bed late, you can't have enough sleep. Then you can't think carefully and your homework will be wrong. You will not be wise and you may not become wealthy!

Some people go to bed late at night and get up late in the morning. This is not good for them. We should sleep at night when it is dark. The dark helps us sleep well. When the daylight comes, we should get up. This is the time for exercise. If the body is not used, it will become weak.

Exercise keeps it strong. Exercise helps the blood (血液) to move around inside the body. Blood takes nutrition (营养) to all parts of our bodies. The brains (大脑) in our heads also need blood. We think with our brains. If we keep our bodies healthy, and take exercise, we can think better!

Our bodies also need air to breathe (呼吸). Without air we will die. Get up early in the morning and we can have plenty of clean, fresh air. That will keep us healthy and happy.

In 2006, Lhamo Yudron started to work at her father's Tibetan embroidery company. She worked hard to improve the {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(样式)of traditional Tibetan embroidery to make more people like it. Lhamo Yudron set up her own Tibetan embroidery company in 2009 with the {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(支持)of her family. She was always serious about her work. She traveled to cities like Beijing and Suzhou in search of different {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(材料).She also traveled around China as well as to {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(亚洲的) countries like Thailand and Nepal to exhibit(展览)Tibetan embroidery. In 2021,Tibetan embroidery was {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(列清单)into the National Intangible Cultural Heritage(国家级非物质文化遗产).

Nowadays, the {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(产品)from Lhamo Yudron's company have made her way to Beijing, Jiangsu and Zhejiang. They have become popular with people there. Lhamo Yudron also encourages more {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(当地的) people in her hometown to learn Tibetan embroidery. So far,her company has given training and offered jobs to more than 1,000 people. She often says she takes {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(骄傲) in helping them find jobs.

There are more than 400,000 kinds of plants on Earth. Some plants are as big as tall buildings, others are as small as rice. Plants are an important part in nature because they give out oxygen. All animals need it for breathing.

What is a plant? Most people can find the differences between an animal and a plant. That is because animals can move around, but plants can't. What makes a plant? Like animals, plants are living things with lots of cells (细胞). Unlike animals, plants make their own food with water, CO2 and sunlight. Most plants have roots, stems, and leaves, and most plants reproduce by growing flowers and making seeds.

How does a plant grow? For most animals, genes (基因) control (控制) their growth. That means when they are small, it's easy to know what they will look like after they grow up. Plants are different. Genes controlled their growth too, but their final shapes may be different because of the place they live. For example, a tree can be big and round if it grows up in an open space (空间), but taller and thinner if it grows with many other trees around it. Plants can't move from one place to another, so it is important for them to fit (适应) in the place they live.
