As a kid， I read a story of a bird. It described a male bird which takes a lot of pain to build a house and the female bird takes care of the baby in it. When the baby bird learns to fly， the whole family flies off to a different place leaving behind the beautiful nest for other birds to grow their family in it. It made me confused(困惑的)： How could they so easily give up their house built with so much effort?

    One night， I got this dream. I was walking on the endless road with beautiful trees on the either side. Attracted by the greenery， I went on， then I saw a wonderful house. I explored the house. There was a sloping(斜的) roof which matched with the greenery around； the large central open yard reminded me of the activities that might have taken place there which felt lively even now. The small water body that kept the house cool added to the beauty of the house — of course， it was all dried up now. Such liveliness turns the house into a home. People say “THE HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS”， and now I felt it and was attracted deeply.

    When I woke up from the dream， I was clear about everything. I realized what message my dream wanted to convey(传递) me. And years later， when I chose my career， I thought of the story of the bird and my dream， then I was sure what to do. I decided to choose architecture as my career. I wanted to do the same thing that the male bird in the story did， to take pain in building a beautiful house and let others stay in it. My dream comes true and the happiness that I gain now from this career is great.

    One night a patient went fishing in another man's boat outside Albert Smith's hospital. The owner of the boat thought he should get all the fish from the patient.

    Dr Smith said to the boat owner, "You are right because you didn't allow him to use your boat. But you are wrong because you are careless and lazy. You seldom(很少) put your boat in a safe place and fasten it with a lock. Because of your laziness you were asleep on this moonlit night instead of making use of the good time to fish. "

    He turned to the patient, "But you are wrong when you took the boat without asking the owner's permission(允许). You are right because you are not so lazy as he is, and you did not want to let the moonlit night go by without making use of it. "

    Dr Smith divided the catch(捕捉物) among the patient, the boat owner and the hospital .

The summer vacation is important to everyone. I'll never forget this year's summer vacation. At first I thought the 1 would be boring, because I was going to the sea (大海). I didn't think there was anything 2 on the beach. I wanted to come back home on the 3 day, but I wasn't right.

I went with my family to Whitby on July 15th. We 4 three weeks there! We stayed at a nice hotel. The rooms were all large and 5 . The hotel was near the sea. We often went back late at night.

Then I 6 lots of interesting people during(在……期间) those three weeks. I stayed with them most of the time. Soon we became 7 . We built a few sandcastles (沙堡), swam and visited many fun places.

The 8 was quite wonderful. Every morning when I woke up, I could see the sun was shining(照耀) and the sky was blue. It rained 9 once, but the sun came out soon. I 10 this vacation and I will never forget it. It's the best time in my life.

Bethany Hamilton is from Hawaii. When she was just 13 years old, she and her friend were surfing (冲浪) in the ocean. While they were 1 , a shark attacked (袭击) Hamilton and she lost her left arm after that.

Hamilton was sent to the hospital 2 . When she arrived, she had already lost more than half of her blood and 3 died. But doctors saved her life. Hamilton loved surfing, and she didn't want to stop. Of course, it was much harder for her now 4 she only had one arm. First, she got a 5 surfboard (冲浪板). This board was thicker and it was easier to control (控制). Then, she started to exercise her 6 . She needed stronger legs because she had to kick more to push the board through the water. Finally, she learned 7 to surf with only one arm.

Less than one month after the accident, she was surfing again

Today, Hamilton is an excellent professional (职业的) surfer. She surfs in all competitions around the 8 . She has been in competitions in the USA, Brazil, and Australia. In total, she has won four important 9 . She no longer needs a special surfboard. She uses the same kind of surfboard that 10 else uses. 

Hamilton uses her experiences to 11 people never to give up. She wrote a book about the 12 attack and her difficulties. She also goes on TV shows. In 2011, her experiences were even 13 into a movie. She has also won several awards (奖) for her courage (勇气).

Hamilton says that helping people has been a wonderful experience for 14 . She says that she has learned a lot about life, love, and being 15 . However, although so many things have happened to her, she says she is still just a surfer.
