Physic book or e-book

William

April 16, 2020

I'm a book addict (书迷). I have loved reading books—I mean physic books, ever since I learned how to do it, I read them while eating, on the bus, and even in the bath! As an adult, I have just graduated with a degree in English Literature, so I have spent the recent three years doing even more reading than usual!

Lenara

Dec. 12, 2019

I have lots of books. My room is full of books, not only my childhood favorites but also those I haven't even read yet. When I decided to move to Spain to work as Language assistant, I faced a big problem. I had only one suitcase for a ten-month stay, so I had to pack lightly.

It would be impossible to pack enough physical books for nearly a whole year. My only choice was e-books.

Amelia

Dec. 23, 2019

I agree with my friend, physical books are better than e-books. But a big problem is about the cost of physical books. And another problem, we have to cut a lot of trees to produce paper.

Gianggi

Sept. 9, 2019

I have always been hating e-readers! I even wrote an article about it when I was at school. I love physical books so much. Compared with physical books, e-books seemed emotionless (无情感的). But while traveling, my choice was e-books or no books, so my brother bought me an Amazon Kindle for my birthday. Now I am on my sixth e-book, and I'm starting to love my Kindle! The e-reader means I never have to worry about there's nothing to read. Yes, there is something I hate, but in general it has become one of the most important parts in my life!

①Many people describe New York City as the centre of culture in the United States. That's because no matter what you're interested in, you'll find it in New York City. Whether it's theatre, music, ballet, or museums, the city has some of the very best to offer.

②The street called Broadway in New York City became the centre of American theatre in the mid-19th century. The number, size, and fame(名声) of the Broadway theatres grew as New York City grew. In 1910 the brightly lighted street became known as "the Great White Way". Beyond these theatres the city offers free performances of the plays of William Shakespeare in Central Park. Operas and concerts are also held in the park.

③New York City has a number of world-class space for performances of all kinds. The city's concert halls include those at the Lincoln Centre for the Performing Arts as well as Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall. The groups that perform in these halls include the Metropolitan Opera, the New York City Opera, and the New York Philharmonic. The New York City Ballet also performs at the Lincoln Centre, in the New York State Theatre.

④Museums are another important part of New York City's cultural life. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Guggenheim Museum are among the city's art museums. You can also spend many hours in the American Museum of Natural History and its Rose Centre for Earth and Space Science.

⑤With all of these resources(资源) there is always plenty to do in New York City.

 阅读下面材料,根据材料内容从每小题所给的 A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出一个最佳选项。

There is an old tree on a dry land. The tree has so many branches(树枝)that it brings shadow(树荫)to hundreds of travelers.

One day, two travelers got to the tree. They walked for a long time in the hot sun. They were too hot and tried to find a place to rest. Luckily, they found the big tree.

They made a decision to take a rest under the tree. They slept there for a while. When they woke up, they felt hungry and one traveler climbed up the tree. But he was sad to see nothing.

He started to say bad words to the tree. "Oh, this is just a useless tree without any fruit on it!" The other traveler said nothing about the tree but asked his friend to be quiet. However, the traveler in the tree still shouted at the tree.

The tree couldn't stand the traveler at last. He said in a sad yet strong voice, "You can't be so ungrateful(忘恩负义的)to me, Just look back to the moment when you got here in the hot sun! I gave you a cool and comfortable place to rest. You would die now without me!"

Many people do much for us, but we sometimes forget to give thanks but only complain(抱怨)! Make sure not to say any bad words to the one who has helped you.
