If you ask me whether you should say yes to walk your neighbor's dog, my answer would be a definite "Yes", as long you do one thing I didn't do when I helped out with my neighbor's dog. Here's what I meant. You don't need to ask your neighbor lots of questions about that particular dog, but just be patient to ask one very important question. Here is why.

Mrs. Gonzales and her adorable dog Rascal, live at the end of my street. My friend Ollie and I have played with Rascal since he was a puppy, so when Mrs. Gonzales asked if we'd like to take him to the park once in a while, we can't wait to says," When can we start?" "How about this Saturday at 3: 00?"she suggested.

When Saturday rolled around, Ollie and I were there to pick up Rascal at 3: 00 on time." Rascal will be so happy to play in the park with you!" Mrs. Gonzales said." If I'm still out grocery shopping when you return, just let yourselves in with this spare key. I'll be home a little while later."

"Also, why do you think I named him Rascal? If there's trouble, such as puddles, this guy is guaranteed to find it. And also the commands that you should" When we realized that Mrs. Gonzales had lots of" alsos", we interrupted her and ran away in the blink of an eye.

Not long after we arrived at the park, Rascal found a giant puddle and jumped into it and rolled around until every square inch of his furry body was dripping with mud." Ugh! silly puppy, you're the muddiest dog in the universes!" I said. Ollie said we should take him back home so he can get washed up.

But when we got to Mrs. Gonzales's house, she didn't answer the doorbell." She must still be out grocery shopping," I said." How about we use the garden tube to clean him?" Ollie suggested." Good idea!" I said, putting Mrs. Gonzales's key into the lock." I'll go inside and get a towel to dry him off."

Paragraph 1:

But the second I opened the door, Rascal raced inside the house.

Paragraph 2:

Mrs. Gonzales came in with her groceries.

My father asked me to chat with him for a while. Actually, I was unwilling to listen to his talking endlessly as he always did. My father was a lawyer, but I never wanted to go to law school or follow his path through life.

As was expected, he cleared his throat and started to say, “Er… What… What do you really want to do in the gorgeous future?”

I was silent for a moment playing with the cell phone. I kept thinking, “Should I tell him my true thoughts? What if he gets angry? What if I let him down?” later I replied, “Well, I want to be a writer.”

I guessed this may be not the answer he would expect. But surprisingly, “Interesting idea!” he answered. I was shocked, speaking in a low voice with hesitation.

    “Are you serious, dad?”

“Well, you need confidence and good preparations, and you still have plenty of time. You need to find out what you really enjoy now. Look, it's late. Let's take the boat out tomorrow morning, just you and me. Maybe we can catch some crabs (螃蟹) for dinner, and we can talk more.”

Early next morning we packed up the equipment and set off along the coast. We didn't talk much, but enjoyed the sound of the seabirds and the sight of the coastline.

There were no big waves and blinding sunlight at that time. “Let's see if we get lucky,” he said, picked up a web basket with a rope tied and threw it into the sea. We waited a while, then my father stood up and said, “Give me a hand with this,” and we pulled up the crab cage onto the deck.

To our joy, the cage was filled with dozens of soft shell crabs. Squatting (蹲) down, we watched them for a moment. At first they fought against each other to climb out hard, trying to escape. Many were pulled back into the cage. Later, some gave up, but there are still some crabs trying to escape again and again.

It was an Art lesson. Rachel sat at the desk watching her classmates busy preparing the water jars and paints. She understood why Mrs. Weston asked her to sit down and got Lisa to fetch everything for her. It was always a disaster when Rachel tried to do Art!

Rachel sighed and reached out to dip her brush in some black paint and—oh, no! She knocked over the jar. The water spread across the desk and drowned the paper. Lisa called Mrs. Weston to see what Rachel had done. Rachel went red in the face. She jumped to her feet to get a cloth. Her chair fell over backwards. She turned round and her paintbrush caught Lisa across the face, giving her a black moustache. Lisa was so surprised that she fell back against a wire bookstand. It came crashing down and the books went all over the floor.

How clumsy! Rachel thought as she went home on the bus. The bus stopped outside her house. She jumped up and her elbow (肘部)knocked a woman's hat right over her eyes. Oh, no! Rachel said sorry, got off and ran indoors. Mum wasn't in the kitchen but lay in bed as she caught an awful cold. Rachel offered to make a cup of tea but Mum would rather wait for Dad. Rachel sighed. She understood Mum was afraid she would spill (溅出)it.

“But would you go to Mrs. Willow for some cold cure?” asked Mum. Rachel turned to the door at once.“But Rachel, Mrs. Willow's house is full of beautiful things, so if she asks you to come in, you'd better say no.” Rachel sighed and ran out.

Mrs. Willow was an old lady with white hair and sharp blue eyes living in an old house. She opened the door and invited her in. Rachel said why she came and that she preferred to wait outside remembering her mother's warning. Mrs. Willow insisted Rachel come inside. Rachel took a deep breath and stepped in. She looked round Mrs. Willow's sitting room and saw at once why Mum had been worried.

It was on September 5th, my birthday, that we left Cambridge and moved away. We went to the seaside,to our holiday house, which was now to be our permanent home.

I remember the day was cold and grey, in falling slowly but constantly. My father drove in silence. No one spoke and all we could hear was the sound of the tyres on the wet road When we got to the small house near the sea, my mother quietly started to unpack the few things we had brought with us. Carol, Julie and I went down to the beach. We said we were going to look for crabs in the rockpools but actually, we just wanted to get away from our father and his cold silence.

We climbed along the rocks by the side of the beach. Julie and Carol became interested in some shells they found in one of the pools. I wandered away, lost in my private thoughts. It was my birthday, but no one had said "Happy Birthday" to me. I had not received any cards or presents.

I walked down to the seashore, where the waves were breaking lazily against the muddy sand. Suddenly, I saw something green sticking out of the water. I looked at it more carefully. The green thing moved closer and closer to the shore, and when it was almost near enough for me to touch, I realized what it was.

It was a bottle. I went over and picked it up, all the time looking at it. It seemed old, and had no label on it. Then 1 realized there was something inside. Slowly, I pulled out the wet cork from the top of the bottle. Inside was a piece of paper. With great care, 1 took out the folded paper and opened it.

Written on it were these words:

"To whomsoever finds this bottle, I promise you a new friend."

 第二节:读后续写,阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段, 使之构成一篇完整的短文。

One weekend when I was about six years old, my family and I went to Disneyland and had a wonderful day full of excitement. I didn't know that the real excitement didn't begin until that night.

While we were watching the fireworks, I started to get an urge to go to the bathroom, but I didn't want to miss the show. I overheard a conversation between my sister Isabel and my mother, and I approached them to hear what they were saying.

"Mom, I'm going to the bathroom with Lizette, okay?" said Isabel.

"Okay," my mom replied, "but stay together. I don't want any of you to get lost."

The second I saw my sisters leaving, I didn't think twice before running after them — without telling my parents. As I followed them through the huge crowd of people, I started to lose sight of them. I began to panic as I scanned the crowd for them. Crazy thoughts ran through my head like "What if I never see my family again?"

I gave up trying to find my sisters and tried to get back to my family, but I was completely mixed up. After searching for what seemed like forever, I couldn't hold back my tears, and I started crying like I had never cried before.

"Mommy!" I cried out. But everyone around me was too caught up by the fireworks to pay any attention to me.

I tried to stop the scary thoughts that were going through my head and started running as fast as I could ... anywhere ... every where. I was going crazy. "I'm only six, and I've gotten lost. What have I done? How could I have been so dumb to run off without telling anyone?" I thought.

With my face wet from tears, I kept running, pulling at people's pants and crying, "Mommy!" I was hoping that one of these adults would be one of my parents.
