In the western world, Chinese takeout with rice and fortune cookies(幸运饼干) is a popular kind of food. But this kind of Chinese food isn't very authentic(正宗的), it is very {#blank#}1{#/blank#}[̍dIfrənt] from real Chinese food. Now over the years, real Chinese{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(dish) have become more popular in foreign countries as well.

Chinese people who live {#blank#}3{#/blank#}[ə̍ brɔːd] introduced many of them. Some have been popular in foreign countries for many years, {#blank#}4{#/blank#}others are new, like tanghulu. It is a traditional Chinese snack that's made{#blank#}5{#/blank#}fruit, usually Chinese hawthorns(山楂). The fruit is stuck on a stick of bamboo. Then it is {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(cover) with sugar syrup(糖浆), which becomes hard after it cools down.

Wang Jialiang, a tanghulu vendor(摊贩) from China, sold 8, 000 sticks in Russia {#blank#}7{#/blank#}one day. Tanghulu made him{#blank#}8{#/blank#} [̍ feIməs] in Russia, with his picture{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(appear) in the local newspaper. In the Russian city of Vladivostok, the deputy mayor(副市长) is a big fan of the snack, always coming to buy it {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(he)from Wang Jialiang.

Mr. Wang is a teacher in our school. He teaches us English. He walks to work every day. 

Do you think English is difficult? If so, you are not the only one. Many students feel it difficult to remember new words when they begin to study English. Now Ms. Manson, an English teacher, will give you some advice.

⑴Do not waste time in learning a list of English words. It is the hardest way to remember English words. How do you learn to speak Chinese? You did it by listening carefully to the people talking to each other. You can find radio programs, TV programs and records, and listen to them carefully. The best way to learn all new words is through ears. As you listen to more and more dialogues, you will learn how English is pronounced in phrases and sentences. Of course, it is not enough to learn new words. You must learn how words are put together, and why some words in English are emphasized(重读).

⑵Some people have found that they can learn the names of everyday objects such as boxes, bottles, cups and desks in the following way. They write the names of objects on paper and put the paper on them, then say the words. Try this and see if this way works for you. If it does not, then go on to practice your dialogues.

What are the Chinese astronauts' lives like? Do they do the same things in s_46 as we do on Earth?

The answer is yes. They do most of the things we do on Earth. But they do something [ʌn' ju:ʒuəl] {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. When their ship reaches a certain area, they can see the sun go up and down every 45 minutes. And they can have fun, too. They can s{#blank#}2{#/blank#} some time watching movies and talking to their families. In this way they will n{#blank#}3{#/blank#} feel bored.

Of course, they will do exercise to make sure that they will not get {#blank#}4{#/blank#}[ wi:k]. Because we can't send a doctor up there!

When it's time for sleep, astronauts have to sleep in bags. They t{#blank#}5{#/blank#} themselves to the bags so that they will not float away in their sleep.

People often ask me for suggestions about how to learn English. As for it, everyone is different. I'll share some of my experience. I once took a school year English course in Wuhan University, but I mostly learned English on my own.

One thing I can tell you is that, once you've started learning, you should try to think in English as much as you can. If you see something when you' re riding your bike or walking down the street, just think about, " How would I say them in English?" At first, it might be with simple words or phrases, but later you should think about longer phrases and sentences. Now I'm in America, and for most of the time, I would think in English and speak it directly. It's amazing how much this helps.

For several years after I started learning, I was often afraid of talking with others in English because I didn't want to make mistakes. Finally, I got it over. And while traveling in America, I'd try to hang out with friends who couldn't speak Chinese, so that I'd have no choice but to speak English. And I also decided that if I said something stupid and other people laughed at me, then so be it. After that, my English started improving much more quickly.
