Do you know why different animals or pests have their special colours? Colours in them seem to be used mainly to protect themselves. Some birds love eating locusts (蝗虫), but birds cannot easily catch them, why? It is because locusts change their colours with the change of the colours of crops. When crops are green, locusts look green. But as the harvest (收获) time comes, locusts change to the same brown colour as crops have. Some other pests with different colours from plants are easily found and eaten by others. So they have to hide themselves for living and appear only at night.

    If you study animals' life, you'll find the main use of colour is to protect themselves. Bears, lions and other animals move quietly through the forests and they cannot be easily seen by hunters. This is because they have the colours much like the trees.

    Have you ever noticed an even stranger act? A kind of fish in the sea can send out a kind of very black liquid (液体) when it faces danger. While the liquid spreads, its enemies cannot find it. And it immediately swims away. So it has lived up to now though it is not strong at all.

    Most cars run on gas. Gas cars work verywell. But there is a problem. Cars that run on gas make the air dirty. Thedirty air is not good for people, animals or trees. Gas cars make the air dirtyfor all living things. What can we do? We can drive electric cars!

    Electric cars do not use gas. These cars donot make the air dirty. These cars have batteries that power their motors (马达). The batteries can be charged (充电) manytimes. They can be used again and again. This makes electric cars great.

    But electric cars have problems too. Theyare slower than gas cars. They are also very quiet. This means that some peoplecan't hear them when they go by. They may not think a car is coming. So theyhave to be careful.

    People are finding ways to make electriccars better all the time. Maybe one day all cars will be electric. That wouldbe much better for the world.

Every country has its own way of cooking.

Parents see the importance of teaching their children how to cook, and most Americans say that home-cooked meals are the best.

After arriving at the equestrian （马术）centre, we first had a guided tour. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}In many sports, the judges' seats are usually placed in a point to help them clearly watch and score the performances. However, in equestrian events, judges often work from a single room, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} It can offer the judges a clear view of the competition.

{#blank#}3{#/blank#}As we are interested in equestrian sports, we had a lot of questions: How do you keep a good relationship with a horse? {#blank#}4{#/blank#} They patiently answered all of our questions. They said if you treat the horse as a friend and trust it, it will do better in the competitions. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

Time flew and the wonderful journey ended. However, now, every time I think of it, I have a picture in my mind of a young boy racing with his horse, with a line of trust.
