Make time for friendships.
Nothing makes closeness fade away(褪色) more than never talking to or seeing each other. If you cherish a person's friendship, make time for him or her, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} it's just a phone call, e-mail or a weekly get-together.
Remember: a true friend doesn't flee when changes happen. Nothing is {#blank#}2{#/blank#} for new parents than to find that their unmarried friends have left them because of the coming of baby. A good friend is one who stays true {#blank#}3{#/blank#} it all in life – marriage, parenthood, new jobs, new homes, and so on.
Make sure you aren't being a burden to a friend.
Friendships will lose if there isn't a {#blank#}4{#/blank#} between the give and the take. Be sensitive to how much your friend can and can't offer you –and don't overstep the mark.
Be a good listener.
It can be the hardest thing in the world to do – simply to listen as he or she {#blank#}5{#/blank#} it all out or is seeking your advice or opinion. To be a better listener, follow this advice:
Keep eye contact. Offer nods and murmurs to show that you understand his or her point of view. Don't finish your {#blank#}6{#/blank#} sentences. While your friend keeps on talking, you should gently {#blank#}7{#/blank#} yourself to focus.
Be in your friend's corner if he or she's not there to defend him or herself.
If you're at a gathering at {#blank#}8{#/blank#} someone says something bad about your friend, stop him or her {#blank#}9{#/blank#} . Say, "Mary is my friend, and it makes me feel bad to hear you talk this way." Sooner or later, news of your loyalty (忠诚) will {#blank#}10{#/blank#} back to your pal, and it will deepen your friendship.

On Saturday I'm usually at home. I'm usually with my dogs. My family has two dogs. One is Millie. She is very{#blank#}2{#/blank#}. Sure, I like being with her. The other one is Dave.     When I was in Grade 7, I had no interest in history .I didn't listen {#blank#}1{#/blank#} in class and couldn't finish homework on time. So I didn't do well in this {#blank#}2{#/blank#}.

    In the {#blank#}3{#/blank#} term, there came a new humorous history teacher. I still had no passion for history. One day, she said,: “We'll have a test in the afternoon ”.Since I wasn't good at history, whenever I {#blank#}4{#/blank#} a history examination, I had to cheat .At that noon, I made lots of cheat sheets quickly.

    In the afternoon, I entered the classroom confidently. Soon my history teacher came in, along with our geography teacher .They both wore mysterious smile on their {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. When the paper was {#blank#}6{#/blank#} out finally ,all of us found it was just a piece of geography paper. I became as {#blank#}7{#/blank#} as a wooden chick at once. Just then, our teachers couldn't help {#blank#}8{#/blank#} loudly. ,which is just like a slap hitting on my face. I only got 12 points that time.

    Later, I {#blank#}9{#/blank#} that day was April Fool's Day, but it wasn't interesting for me at all. It was a deep lesson for me. I learned that if I didn't {#blank#}10{#/blank#} hard, I might be a real fool one day.

    Growing up in England, the happiest thing for my classmates and I was reading stories. Among them, The Ugly Duckling (《丑小鸭》) was a popular one.

    The classic story of The Ugly Duckling describes a poor young bird. All the ducks {#blank#}1{#/blank#} for his ugly appearance—small and grey. Feeling sad, he begins a journey of self—discovery. Finally one day, he looks down into a pond. He {#blank#}2{#/blank#} his reflection (倒影) in the water. He was never an ugly duckling, but a beautiful swan.

    This great children's fairy tale has been a hit for years. It's even been {#blank#}3{#/blank#} a musical and Disney film. In fact, this year is the story's 175th birthday. Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen wrote it in 1843. The story teaches us many valuable lessons. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}, we should not judge a person by his or her appearance. It is inner beauty that makes a person special. What's more, one should think of other people's feelings. The story's positive messages are saved by the world. Today, we use the phrase “ugly duckling” as a metaphor {#blank#}5{#/blank#}poor or bad that grows into something successful or beautiful.
