Things don't always work out the way you think. Setbacks(挫折)come in all areas of life. How you deal with them can affect your study and life. So here some ways are offered to help you.

Breathe.

 It will allow you to think with a clear head, release some stress, and then give you time to figure out how to solve the setback. If you just jump in head first, you might miss something that could help you along the way.

Don't be afraid to reach out to someone.

 He may help you get back on track. Or he may just be there with a shoulder to lean(依靠)on and an ear to listen. It will make a difference if you can get the opinion of someone you trust.

Stop all blame(责备).

One of the worst things at the moment is to play the blame game. No matter who or what caused the setback to you, blaming won't help fix the issue. It doesn't get your back on the right path.  The best way is to stop playing the blame game.

Once you have experienced a setback, it is a lesson you shouldn't forget. The minute you allow a setback to take over your life is when you stop trying.  Always try to look in front of you and take every situation that comes up in life as a positive experience.

A. It is only a waste of time and energy

B. Learn from it and move on.

C. Focus on the future more than the past.

D. So ask yourself what you can influence.

E. You need to take a step back and look at the situation in front of you.

F. The greatest source of stress in life is lack of control over events.

G. You need to find a close friend that you can rely on.

    After entering high school, you must wonder how to study well. Here are some good skills for you.

    Go to class. If you want to do well at school, going to class is the first step in studying well. If you miss classes, you will miss what the teacher thinks is important; as a result, you'll miss what is the most likely to end up on the test.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}

    Take good notes. Try not to write down everything.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}Write down unfamiliar terms. After class, review your notes as soon as possible. You can fill in details that you missed and review the material while it is still fresh on your mind.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}If you are struggling in class, talk to your teacher. He or she may be able to give you more help before or after class. Most teachers have little sympathy(同情) for students who just become worried about failing during the last few weeks of the grading period.

    Take part in class discussions.{#blank#}4{#/blank#}Asking questions and having eye contact with your teachers and classmates can increase your participation(参与) and your focus during the class discussion. If the material is difficult, you'd better read it before class. This helps you make your point clear in class.

Form study groups. Get students together who want to do well in class. Make sure that everyone is familiar with the material because you do not want to spend time re-teaching material to people who do not understand it.{#blank#}5{#/blank#}Sometimes group sessions(上课时间) can become chatting sessions.

A. But be careful!

B. Don't be late for your class.

C. Talk to your teacher if you need help.

    Make the most of life experiences

    If you ask anyone what the purpose of life is, you'll likely receive wildly different responses. The answer to this question is deeply personal because different things are important to us throughout the course of our lives.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}

    Finding ways to make the most of our experiences is a challenge we face every day, here are some ways to make your experiences meaningful.

    Follow your dreams

    The number one way to live a life free of regret is to follow your dreams. Passion will die without actions supporting them.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}.Every day make an effort, no matter how small, to achieve your goals. Each day is a step forward and none of it is wasted.

    Make mistakes

    Making mistakes is the surest(无疑的)path to grow as a person.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}and those lessons have stayed with me. failure is beneficial to us. And time allows me to see the value of even the most painful situation.

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

    Difficult and painful experiences shape our character but can also weigh us down. These prevent us from moving forward. So much of our progress in life relies on willpower and a healthy emotional state. If you're under stress, your body and mind both require time to recover.{#blank#}5{#/blank#}.

    For me, life is about experiences. We all have to dream, work hard, and fail before we can achieve success. Maybe we'll discover along the way that the journey is more important than the destination.

A. Take care of yourself.

B. Improve your personality.

C. Many of my strongest memories come from the times I've failed

    Traveling to all corners of the world gets easier and easier. We live in a global village, but this doesn't mean that we all behave in the same way.

    How should you behave when you meet someone for the first time?{#blank#}1{#/blank#}In Japan, you should bow, and the more respect you want to show, the deeper you should bow. In Thailand, people greet each other by pressing both hands together at the chest.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}

    {#blank#}3{#/blank#} In Muslim countries, you shouldn't expose your body, especially women, who should wear long blouses and skirts. In Korea, you should take off your shoes when entering a house. Remember to place them neatly together where you come in.

    In Spain, lunch is often the biggest meal of the day, and can last two or three hours.{#blank#}4{#/blank#} In Mexico, lunch is the time to relax, and many people prefer not to discuss business as they eat. In Britain, it's not unusual to have a business meeting over breakfast.

    In most countries, an exchange of business cards is necessary for all introductions. It should include your company name and your position. If you are going to a country where your language is not widely spoken, you can get the back side of your card printed in the local language.{#blank#}5{#/blank#}

A. For this reason, many people eat a light breakfast and a late dinner.

B. As the saying goes, "when in Rome, do as the Romans do."

C. In both countries, eye contact is avoided as a sign of respect.

D. In China, you may present your card with the writing side up.

E. An American shakes your hand while looking into your eyes.

F. Many countries have rules about what you should and shouldn't wear.

G. Don't make any noise when you eat or drink soup.

根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。

A. Look for things with your kids.

B. An apartment usually costs less.

C. So you can consider other places.

D. Collect things instead of buying things.

E. You also have more space to move around.

F. You can also choose extended-stay hotels if you like.

G. However, a getaway any time of the year can be pricey.

    As Labor Day gets close, many Americans are trying to find some final vacation time before kids head back to school. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} With people still looking for that escape, it's important to know some tips to make your dollars go the extra mile when traveling. Choose places that are in their off-season during kids' school breaks. Over the Christmas/New Year's break, for example, the prices for flights and hotels in the Caribbean and Hawaii are sky-high. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} You can go to places that are in their low season but are warm and festive (欢乐的).

    For US trips, think about extended-stay hotels (常住酒店). Extended-stay hotels give you affordable suites (套房) with a lot of free facilities for the money. You get a door to the kids' room that you can close at bedtime. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} A refrigerator, microwave and washing machines, as well as free breakfast, Wi-Fi and sometimes even dinner and snacks are available, too.

    For European city trips, rent an apartment. Hotel rooms in European cities can be expensive and tiny. They have no refrigerator or microwave, and neighbors can hear every sound. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} It also gives you more space and thicker (更厚的) walls. The kitchen can help you save some money in hotel breakfast charges, and the washing machine can help you save the time for washing.

    {#blank#}5{#/blank#} Hunting for specific items — maybe they're seashells from each beach you stop at, maps from tourist information offices or door handle do-not-disturb-signs from hotels—gives kids a task and keeps them busy in a trip. Collecting souvenirs on a certain theme is a lot cheaper than buying them.

根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。

A. Dress right

B. Keep warm.

C. Don't go too fast, too soon.

D. Start and finish in the same way.

E. Don't wait to drink water until you feel thirsty.

F. Head out into the wind and come home with it at your back.

G. On really cold days, wear a mask or scarf over your mouth to protect your face.

    It is not as simple as opening the door and hitting the track in winter. There are a few things you can do to ensure you are getting the most out of your run, and, importantly, not doing more harm than good.

    Warm up, cool down

    {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Your muscles need some time to warm up when it's cold  so take it easy when you set off and do a few stretches (伸展) once you're finished.

    Drink water

    You might not feel hot, but that's because sweat evaporates (蒸发) more quickly into the chilly, dry air. So be sure to drink water before, during and after cold-weather workouts. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} A belt bottle conveniently attaches to your waist so you don't have to carry it and can have a drink whenever you feel like it.

    {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

    Running in cotton is a bad idea. Wear thin, breathable layers of synthetic (合成的) clothing that help protect you from the wind and snow, but still let out heat and moisture (水分).Thirty percent of your body heat escapes through your hands and forty percent through your head. Wear a hat, or beanie (无边小便帽), and gloves so your circulatory system can distribute warm blood to the rest of your body. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

    Run into the wind

    {#blank#}5{#/blank#} Obviously, it will be an easier passage home with some extra help from Mother Nature. But, more importantly, you won't have the wind in your face for the second half of your run, when you are more likely to be sweating and catch a chill.

根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。

    When everything goes wrong, always look at what you have, instead of what you have lost. Because it's not what the world takes away from you that counts; it's what you do with what you have left.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}

    Pain is part of growing.

    Sometimes life closes doors because it's time to move forward. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}When times are tough, remind yourself that no pain comes without a purpose. Remember that there are two kinds of pain: pain that hurts and pain that changes you. When you roll with life, instead of resisting it, both kinds help you grow.

    {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

    Every time you get hurt, you heal. After darkness there is always light – you are reminded of this every morning, but still you often forget, and instead choose to believe that the night will last forever. It won't. Nothing lasts forever.

    Complaining changes nothing.

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#}It's always better to attempt to do something great and fail than to attempt to do nothing and succeed. It's not over if you've lost; it's over when you do nothing but complain about it. If you believe in something, keep trying. Don't let the shadows of the past darken the doorstep of your future.

    The best thing you can do is to keep going.

Don't be afraid to get back up—-to try again, to love again, to live again, and to dream again. Don't let a hard lesson harden your heart. Life's best lessons are often learned at the worst times and from the worst mistakes. There will be times when it seems like everything that could possibly go wrong is going wrong.{#blank#}5{#/blank#}

A. Everything in life is temporary.

B. And even if you fall short, keep going.

C. Your scars are symbols of your strength.

D. Those who complain the most, accomplish the least.

E. Here are a few tips to inspire you when you need it most.

F. That's a good thing because we often won't move unless life forces us to.

G. When you feel like quitting, remember that sometimes things can be right eventually.
