Two years ago, a small town in Changhua started to grow healthy rice. The healthy rice was not grown by farmers but by the students from a small primary school of only about fifty people.

    The idea of growing rice came from the school teachers. When making teaching plans, the teachers decided to teach students how to grow healthy rice on school land. They wanted the students to get closer to the land when doing the rice farming outside the classroom.

What's better, the school made money from selling the rice and giving farming classes to the public. With the money, the school could help the students who wished to go to foreign countries some day. Today the dream is becoming real — the students are flying to Japan to share their special farming experiences, and have fun over there, of course! “We all feel very proud that even students from a small town can make themselves seen in the world,” said one of the teachers.

    For this month's Young World magazine, I interviewed 19-year-old Asian pop star Candy Wang．Candy told me that she used to be really shy and took up singing to deal with her shyness．As she got better, she dared to sing in front of her class, and then for the whole school．Now she' s not shy anymore and loves singing in front of crowds． I asked Candy how life was different after she became famous．She explained that there are many good things, like being able to travel and meet new people all the time．“I didn't use to be popular in school, but now I get tons of attention everywhere I go．” However, too much attention can also be a bad thing．“I always have to worry about how I appear to others and I have to be very careful about what I say or do．And I don't have much private time anymore．对我来说和朋友闲逛是不可能的now because there are always guards around me．” What does Candy have to say to all those young people who want to become famous? “Well, ” she begins slowly, “you have to be prepared to give up your normal life．You can never imagine how difficult the road to success is．Many times I thought about giving up, but I fought on．You really require a lot of talent and hard work to succeed． Only a very small number of people make it to the top．

The Amazing Spider Man

    Spider Man is a hero. People got to know the hero through the Spider Man movie series.

    Now, a new Spider Man movie is coming to our eyes. It has a new name called The Amazing Spider Man. A new director called Marc Webbis directed the movie and a new actor, Andrew Garfield, played Spider Man.

    The Amazing Spider Man is also about the story of Peter Parker, a high school student. His parents left him when he was a boy, and he was raised by his Uncle Ben and Aunt May. Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today.

    As Peter finds a briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins to find out why his parents disappeared. The discovery of his father's secret will shape his destiny(命运)of becoming “Spider Man.”Peter will make his choices to use his powers and become a hero.

    Unlike the former one, the new movie focuses on Spider Man developing his abilities in high school, as well as discovering the mystery(秘密)of his parents, or at least what happened to his father.

    The movie is going to come out on July 3, 2012 in 3D.

    Nick is a student from California. He weighs 147 pounds (about 67kg). But do you know what he used to be like? Six months ago, he weighed about 202 pounds (91kg). How did he lose all that weight in only half a year?

    "One day, I was surprised to find that I weighed about 202 pounds," Nick said. "I thought I had to do something."

    Nick is from a boxing(拳击) family. His father and two elder brothers are all professional boxers. So he decided to start boxing. He began with simple exercises. Then he started running. "I don't like running," he said. "But I really wanted to be thin and strong at that time, so I had no choice but to keep on."

    Months later, Nick joined a boxing club in his city. He is always the first kid to begin exercising, and the last to leave the club. His coach(教练), James White said, "Nick is more hard-working than any other boy in the club. I'm very happy to see him lose the pounds so quickly."

    Nick is very happy with his weight now. There is a family photo in his room from 18 months ago. "Each time I look at the photo, I laugh at myself. I was so big then." Nick said. "I look thinner and stronger now."

    In a school, some students didn't follow the school rules. They always caused trouble.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}They never meant to forgive (原谅) each other.

    One day a new teacher came to this school.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}He told each of his students to bring a bag of potatoes to school. For every person they didn't want to forgive, they chose a potato, wrote the person's name on it, and put it in the bag.

    Some of their bags were very heavy.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}They would put them beside their beds at night, on the seats when they sit in a car or on a bus, and next to their desks at school. They had to take care of them all the time so that they didn't forget them.{#blank#}4{#/blank#} Days of carrying the bags along with them made students get to know what a weight (重量) they were carrying in their minds. After that, the students learned to forgive.{#blank#}5{#/blank#} 

    Too often we think of forgiveness as a gift to other people, and it clearly is for ourselves!
