安徽安庆市2016届九年级上学期英语期末考试试卷

阅读下列短文,从每小题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出一个最佳选项。

Some people believe that international sport creates goodwill between the nations and that if countries play games together they will learn to live together. Others say that the opposite is true: international contests encourage false national pride and lead to misunderstanding and hatred. There is probably some truth in both arguments, but in recent years the Olympic Games have done little to support the view that sports encourage international brotherhood. Not only was there the incident of tragedy involving murders of athletes, but the Games were also ruined by lesser incidents caused principally by minor national contests.

One country received its second-place medals with visible anger after the hockey final. There had been noisy scenes at the end of the hockey match, as the losers disagreed with the final decisions. They believed that one of their goals should have been allowed and that their opponents' victory was unfair. Their manager was in great anger when he said: "This isn't hockey. Hockey and the International Hockey Federation are finished." The president of the Federation said later that such behavior could result in the suspension(停赛) of the team for at least three years.

The American basketball team announced that they would not yield first place to Russia, after a disputable(有争议的) end to their contest. The game had ended in disorder. It was thought at first that the United States had won by a single point, but it was announced that there were three seconds still to play. A Russian player then threw the ball from one end of the court to the other, and another player popped it into the basket. It was the first time the US had ever lost an Olympic basketball match. An appeal jury (评审委员会) debated the matter for four and a half hours before announcing that the result would stand. The American players then voted not to receive the silver medals.

Incidents of this kind will continue as long as sport is played competitively rather than for the love of the game. The suggestion that athletes should compete as individuals or in non-national teams, might be too much to hope for. But in the present organization of the Olympics there is far too much that encourages aggressive patriotism (爱国主义).

A、created goodwill between the nations B、hardly showed any international friendship C、caused only false national pride D、led to more and more misunderstanding and hatred

A、There should be no more hockey matches organized by the Federation. B、His team would no longer take part in international games. C、Hockey and the Federation are ruined by the unfair decisions. D、The Federation should be ended.
(3)、The basketball example implied that().

A、too much patriotism was displayed in the incident B、the announcement to make the match last longer was wrong C、the appeal jury was too hesitant in making the decision D、The American team was right in receiving the silver medals
(4)、Which statement best summarizes this passage?

A、The organization of the Olympic Games must be improved. B、Different teams often have disputes when fighting for the first place. C、Any team that has disrespectful behavior should be suspended. D、Athletes should compete as individuals.
举一反三
The most unusual museum in London is the Science Museum. In most museums, there's no shouting and no running, and you aren't allowed to touch the exhibits(展品). But the Science Museum is different, because it's noisy! People talk about what they can see and do there, and some of the machines are noisy as well. Visiting the Science Museum is fun and it's a great way to learn about science because you can work things out and try out ideas.
When I visit the Science Museum, I go to the Launch Pad. This is my favourite room because you can do physics experiments. For example, if you want to fill a bag with  falling sand, you have to move a kind of truck on wheels into the correct position. I also go to the Rocket Show. You can learn how we travel into space and back again.
Then I go upstairs to Human and Nature room. You can compare your speed with animals there. You hear a noise and push a button(按钮). If you aren't fast enough, the lion catches you! I'm faster than all my friends, but the lion still catches me.
There are also rooms on transport, the environment and space technology, as well as maths, physics and chemistry.
You can do a lot of things in this museum, but you have to obey some rules as well. For example, you mustn't take photos of the exhibits in the museum. But you can buy postcards of them in the museum shops.
Above all, the Science Museum is free. That means you can drop in for a few minutes or you can stay as long as you like—it's open every day, from 10 am to 6 pm. So if you ever go to London, make sure you visit the Science Museum. It's my favourite museum in the whole world.

Kataria is the founder of the worldwide laughter movement. The celebration of World Laughter Day is a positive activity for world peace and is to build up a global sense of brotherhood and friendship through laughter. The first “World Laughter Day” gathering(集会)took place in Mumbai, India, on 11th January 1998. 12, 000 members from India and international Laughter Clubs attended it. Now there are about 5, 000 Laughter Clubs worldwide on all 5 continents.

“HAPPY-DEMIC” was the first World Laughter Day gathering outside India. It took place on 9th January 2000 in Copenhagen, Denmark. “World Laughter Day” is now organized on the first Sunday of May every year. Hundreds of people gather worldwide on that day to laugh together.

Today, the world has never faced so much unrest(动荡)before. People are at war within themselves. Laughter is a universal language, which has the ability to unite humanity without religion(宗教). Laughter can build a common connection between various religions and create a new world order. So we believe that laughter and only laughter can unite the world, building up a global sense of brotherhood and friendship.

Studies also say that laughter helps your body do the following: lower blood pressure; reduce stress; work out the heart, especially for those who are unable to perform physical exercise. So in life, when you can laugh, you should laugh loudly and with your entire body—because it's good for you.
