Tokyo is Japan's capital and largest city. It's also one of the largest cities in the world. To has a history of hundreds of years, and now it is the main part of a big city area. The big city area is called Greater Tokyo. It includes (包括) Tokyo and some other cities near it. There are over 30,000,000 people living in this area.

    Many streets of Tokyo are very crowded, and most of the buildings are very tall and modem. But how could such an old city look so modern? During World War II, over a third of buildings in Tokyo were destroyed (被摧毁). After World War II, people began to build the city again. That way, the city looked different from before.

    Today Tokyo is a very welcoming city. Many people come to visit Tokyo every day. The best way to go to the city from other parts of Japan is by train. And the Shinkansen the fast trains are famous all over the world. Visitors from other countries can enjoy themselves a lot in Tokyo. They can learn Japanese culture and try Japanese food. There are lots of nice restaurants in Tokyo. The city never goes dark at night. So walking in Tokyo at night is always an option for most visitors.

    If you come to visit Japan, make sure you stop in Tokyo for at least (至少) a few days.

    Maybe the most beautiful place in Hawaii is Kauai.You can visit its long, sandy beaches in the south and west of the island, and mountains and forests in the north, but be  careful: there are many mosquitoes(蚊子), and don't be surprised if it rains in the center of the island.The daytime temperature there is usually between 24℃ and 26℃ by the sea，and it is only a little cooler in the late evening.

    The Spring Festival is the biggest festival for Chinese people all around the world. The celebration usually last for 15 days. There is a lot to do.

    On the eve of the Spring Festival, family members get together and have big meals. Their favorite dish on this day is dumplings.

    Days before the Spring Festival, families will clean their homes. People think cleaning sweeps away bad luck. It makes the house ready for good luck.

    The color red is everywhere during the Spring Festival. People think red is a happy color and will bring them a bright future. People wear red, too. They decorate(装饰) their homes with pieces of red paper. Kids get a lot of hongbao. It is a paper bag with money in it .Usually, older people give younger ones hongbao. They think it brings good luck.

    The Spring Festival is the time to make everybody happy. So don't say any bad words or do anything that will bring unhappiness to other people.

    For instance(例如), you'd better not say any bad words like "death". Don't break anything. People think that it means your luck is running out.

    Also, don't borrow money on these days. If you have borrowed money, return it before the Spring Festival.

    People usually think volunteering is just for adults and it seems hard for students like us. But it is different in Canada. The government encourages people of any age to volunteer in public and work for the whole society. If students want to graduate from high school, thirty hours of volunteering is required, if students want to get into a well - known university, it helps if they do a lot to society. Volunteering is an important factor (因素) that universities will take into consideration.

    Furthermore, there are volunteer chances everywhere. People can find information about how to volunteer posted in the library or on the Internet. It includes different jobs, such as taking care of small kids or doing some cleaning in a neighborhood. Students can choose what they want to do.

    I got my first volunteering job in New Westminster Museum every Sunday from 9:30 am to 11: 30 am. My job is to proofread(校对) the documents on a computer and correct mistakes. The museum is about the history of the Irving Family, a historically important family in New Westminster. At first, I was nervous to communicate with others. But as time passed, I became more open. During volunteering, I not only learned how to work with other volunteers, but also learned a lot of history about New Westminster. As a volunteer, I am proud of myself.

    There are many different kinds of music in the world. Now let's study some of them.

    Classical music Classical music is a form of music which needs high musical skills. If you want to learn this kind of music, you have to go through proper training.

    Heavy metal music Heavy metal music came out after World War Ⅱ. The melody (旋律) of the song is heavily influenced by the structure of it. It is also known as "information music". In heavy metal music, songwriting is based on a form.

    Hip­hop music This kind of music always includes the use of instruments such as the guitar, violin, piano, bass (低音电吉他), drums and so on. In this kind of music, the bass is the main instrument. It was first played by a group of traveling singers and poets of West Africa.

    Opera music It first appeared in Italy in the 1600s. It has a great mixture of theatrical (戏剧的) art and musical invention and is used in theaters.

    Jazz music This kind of music has strong and complex (复杂的) melodies. The main musical instruments are the cornet, trumpet and violin, which help carry the melody.

    Besides these, there are many other kinds of music such as the blues, new­age music, Celtic music, religious music, and chamber music.
