安徽省蚌埠市2016届四校九年级上学期英语期中考试试卷

根据短文理解,选择正确答案。

How green are you ? Do you know how to be green?

We all need a healthy environment, but we produce waste every day and it does harm to our environment. Though we are young, we can still do something to help. In fact, even the simplest everyday activities can make a real difference to the environment. Here are some ideas for you.

    Reduce

Reduce means “use less”. Don't waste things. This saves money and reduces pollution and waste going into the environment. Before we buy something new, think whether it is really necessary—or maybe the old one will be just as good! When we do buy things, choose local products if possible, and try not to buy too many things from abroad.

    Reuse

Reuse means “use again”. Use things for as long as possible. When we buy things, make sure that they last a long time. We should look after them so that they will last, and we should repair them if we can instead of throwing them away and buying new ones. Don't use a paper cup or a paper bag. It's better to use a china cup and a lunch box because you can use them again.

    Recycle

Recycle means “change things into something else”. Though it takes energy(精力) to change something into something else, it's better than throwing things away or burning them. Find out what can be recycled in your neighborhood and take part in recycling programmes. We should also buy products made from recycled materials, such as recycled paper, to help save trees.

So please remember these three words: reduce, reuse and recycle.

(2)、Which of the following is right?

When it comes to learning a foreign language, most people would choose English. Millions of people born in non-English speaking countries learn it just from textbooks and spend hours studying English grammar. However, these are the wrong ways to learn English. Let's look at some good ways.

English media such as music, videos and TV shows are helpful. I come from a small country in Europe. When I was a little boy, there were few local TV shows or songs in my hometown. So my friends and I almost only watched English TV shows and listened to English songs. This, along with the courses we were taking at school, helped speed up our process of learning English.

Start making conversations in English when you can understand what you hear. While it may seem strange at first, but it would get more natural if you stick to it. I spent a lot of time talking with my friends in English. When we finished primary school we could speak English fluently (流利地).

I learnt three other languages when I was in college. Now I can confidently say that the only way to truly master a language is to live as though the language were your mother tongue (语言). So just forget about your textbooks and try acting like you live outside of China. Find ways to expose (使接触) yourself to English as much as possible. It will not only make you a better learner but also give you a fresh view of the language.

 阅读下面短文,掌握其大意,然后从题中所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。

The Qingming Festival, or Tomb-Sweeping Day, is an important festival in China. On that day, people sweep the tombs, mourning(悼念) their dead relatives.

Qingming means clear and bright in Chinese. As one of the 24 seasonal division points(节气) in China,it is thought to1 farm work. It falls on April 4th to 6th each year. After the festival, the sun shines brightly and the2 rises up. There will be more rain. The trees and grass become green and nature is3 of life. It is a great time for farmers to plant.

4 the climate(气候) is agreeable, a lot of people prefer to go out to enjoy nature. Flying kites and planting trees are popular activities5 that period.

The willow (柳树) is an important plant in the festival. perhaps the most common and familiar one. People6 insert willow branches (插柳) under their roofs or make garlands (花环) out of the willow branches and wear them on their heads. on their heads. The willow, with strong power of life, is believed to 7 ghosts. With the fact that the8 of willow in Chinese is liu,9 to that of staying, willow is expected to make ancestors' souls(祖先的灵魂)10

In ancient times, during the festival, people would go outing11 sweeping the tombs. poets would write about their12 , as well as interesting or unforgettable experiences they had during this time. Many 13 are still popular today. The Mourning Day, written by Tang Dynasty poet Du Mu (803-852), is a most14 one. Even a kid knows it. It reads:

A drizzling rain(毛毛雨) falls like tears on the Mourning Day;

The mourner's heart is going to15 on his way.

Where can a wine shop be found to kill the sad hours?

A cowherd points to a village afar in apricot(杏) flowers.

There are many ways to help improve your health like eating healthy food. Taking exercise and getting medical help. But the easiest and cheapest way to improve your health is just to sleep eight hours or more every night. The general sleeping rule is that the younger you are,the longer sleep you need. But regardless of(不管)age,some people need to sleep more while for some a few hours is enough.

① .  According to the World Health Organization over half the people in the world may be sleep﹣deprived(睡眠不足的). Having less sleep not only makes people feel tired but also causes accidents. In the United States alone, sleepy drivers cause at least 100, 000 traffic accidents a year. Also sleep problems can cause medical problems such as high blood pressure.

② . Why are so many people sleep-deprived? Part of the reasons may be cultural. In the American culture, people put a higher value on work than on sleep. In fact, people who sleep a lot are usually seen as "lazy". Also, you can sometimes hear some people say proudly that they don't have much time to sleep. They only sleep four or five hours a night. It seems that the less you sleep,the more work you'll do.

③ . How do we teach these people to learn the value of sleep? Perhaps they may listen to the advice of Dr. James Maas, an expert in sleep. He says, "Sleep is like a credit (信用卡) card. When you sleep less, you are only borrowing time. You always have to pay it back. The more hours you don't sleep, the more hours you should sleep to 'pay back' the hours on your 'sleep credit card. '"

④ . For those who value work more than sleep, they should listen to what a famous person once said. " Don't think you will be doing less work because you sleep during the night. That is a foolish idea which is held by people who have no imagination. You will be able to do more. "
