Ann is a newspaper reporter. She chose this1so she could travel around the world. The work has taught her many unforgettable (令人难忘的) lessons. She has seen wars, earthquakes and death. But she has 2 seen courage, hope and happiness.

    Last year, she won an award for her reporting in Africa. She was very proud 3 it. At first, she thought she got the award because of her good work. But then she realized that she should thank many other people for 4 help.

    Ann was born in Jamaica. Her family was not poor, but it was not 5 , either. Her parents had to 6 hard so that she could go to school. At school, Ann was not a good student, 7 she enjoyed writing because her English teacher said, "Ann, you are a wonderful 8 " The teacher encouraged her all the time.

    Later, Ann went to university in Canada and then 9 a job. It was very difficult. Then, one day, she went to see the editor of a newspaper in Ottawa. The editor gave her a job. "Everyone needs a 10 at first." he said.

    Some years ago, Danny gave up his job as a doctor to become a freelance(特约的) model maker, but now hehas money trouble. He says that he wishes he'd never1 to set up his own business.

    "I am now in such abad situation," says Danny. "I hope I'm2 working as a doctor. You see, I was3 with my job, and I didn't have any fun. I said to a few friends that I wanted to go into4 and they said that theycould give me work, so I left the hospital.

    At first, everything was5: I had too much work to do. I got too many orders every day. And soon I6a large number of money. I've had to10 my business nowand I don't know what I'mgoing to do for money.It just goes to show if you set up your own business, you shouldn't spend money youdon't have."

After a few years，I thought I had5 very hard but still couldn't do it well. I felt sad and wanted to6 . One day，my teacher had a7 with me. She told me I could dance at our next 8 !I couldn't believe my9 . After the show，I knew how far I went. My life changed. It was10 from before. I was doing better and better in dance and I never gave up. 

So，don't give up and if you work hard，you will succeed. 

There is an old tree on a dry land. The tree has so many branches（树枝）that it brings shadow（树荫）to hundreds of travelers. 

One day, two travelers got to the tree. They walked for a long time in the hot sun. They were too hot and tried to find a place to rest. Luckily, they found the big tree. 

They made a decision to take a rest under the tree. They slept there for a while. When they woke up, they felt hungry and one traveler climbed up the tree. But he was sad to see nothing. 

He started to say bad words to the tree. "Oh, this is just a useless tree without any fruit on it!" The other traveler said nothing about the tree but asked his friend to be quiet. However, the traveler in the tree still shouted at the tree. 

The tree couldn't stand the traveler at last. He said in a sad yet strong voice, "You can't be so ungrateful（忘恩负义的）to me, Just look back to the moment when you got here in the hot sun! I gave you a cool and comfortable place to rest. You would die now without me!"

Many people do much for us, but we sometimes forget to give thanks but only complain（抱怨）! Make sure not to say any bad words to the one who has helped you. 

I love chocolate. So you can1 how excited I was when I discovered that a chocolate festival was coming to Bastia, my new home town in Corsica! It is one of the most popular2 in Corsica. Every year more than 50, 000 chocolate lovers come to it. 

 The chocolate festival started on 21st October and lasted for three days! I 3 a ticket for the festival online. For just€2. 50, I went into the 4 festival tent. 

 Inside the huge tent, I found there were over 125 different stalls(摊位). It was hard to know where to begin!5 , I decided to enjoy the most interesting part of the festival. It was a huge Arc de Triomphe(凯旋门) made out of 6 ! It was almost four metres high with over 900 kilos of chocolate. It took the chocolater Bruno Rouly almost 1, 500 hours to7 it. To my surprise, although it was very hot outside, the Arc de Triomphe showed no8 of melting(融化). 

 After taking a few photos in front of the Arc de Triomphe, I began to 9 my favourite chocolate. The chocolate came in many 10 shapes, sizes and tastes; I saw chocolate planes, shoes, animals. . . The one in the shape of a pencil caught my eyes. It was my favourite!
