Lucy, Tina and Jack are good friends. Today they 1 some food and other things to the West Hill. They want to have a 2 there. Now it's 12:00. It's time for 3. The list for the sixth-grade basketball team was announced online. I was a little worried because I knew how much my 12-year-old son wanted to make the team

I read the list of 13 names for a few minutes. Finally, I had to tell myself that my son wasn't among the players who were allowed to continue playing I felt sad. I wished it would be about victory. Like every parent, I love to say, "You did it! "

Instead, I had to give my son a speech to comfort my son, which was a lot less exciting, but probably more important. It was not really a speech, but a further discussion about spirit, courage and not giving up. Although it was painful for me to see myself so disappointed(失望), I needed to keep my own feelings in check Sure, I wanted to call he coach to say he made a big mistake, but I would not. Nor would I let my son know that I thought it unfair(不公平的). Instead, I put my own feelings aside and let my son have a safe place to calm down his own moods. And when he was done, I needed to encourage him to continue to improve skills. That day was a loss, but the only way to get another was to put on his trainers and get on the basketball court again.

My son is 15 years old now. And, after being cut from the team for three years in a row(连续地), he got to see his name on the list for the high school team. Last week, my husband and I watched him play in his first game. The smile on his face when he made his first shot in is something I will never forget After so many failures, it was a win that didn't come easy for him. And it wouldn't have happened if he had given up trying 

Today is Jenny's grandma's birthday.

Jenny is making a birthday card for her. She is using paper and crayons(蜡笔) to make the card. She is putting a picture of Grandma and herself on the front. And her family are writing something for Grandma in the card.

I'm Leo. There is a great artist in my family. She is Lisa. Lisa is only 6, she is cute and she likes drawing a lot. Here are her drawings.

There is an animal in the first drawing. It has two big eyes, a big mouth and two small ears. It has long arms and long legs. It is black and white. There are some apples in its hands. It looks very happy. Lisa says it is a panda.

There is a woman in the second drawing. She is thin. She is wearing a red dress. She has straight blonde hair, a small mouth, a big nose and two big eyes. She looks angry. Who is she? Lisa says she is our mom. But Mom has curly blonde hair, small eyes and a small nose.

There is an animal in the last drawing, too. Its head is an apple. Its hair is black. It has a long mouth, and it is a banana. Its two legs are carrots. What is it? Lisa says it is a horse, but it doesn't look like a horse at all.

Bella invited me to her birthday party but something unexpected (出乎意料的) happened after dinner.

"It's scary movie time!" Bella said 1 .

"Are you kidding? Watching scary things before bed will keep me 2 the whole night," I said.

"Come on. My cousin 3 saw this movie before and he says it's not scary at all," said Bella.

I was very 15 that I just watched for a couple of minutes. Not only because the movie was not so much fun, but also because I was brave to refuse what I didn't like at last.
