Roy is a 12-year-old boy from California, US. He weighs 147 pounds (67kg). But six months ago, he weighed more than 202 pounds (91kg). How did he lose all that weight in only half a year?

"One day, I was surprised to find that I weighed about 200 pounds," Roy says. "I thought I had to do something. " Roy is from a boxing family — his father and two elder brothers are professional boxers. So he decided to start boxing. He began with easy exercise, like sit-ups and push-ups. Then Roy started jogging. "No kids like running," he says. "I don't want to do it, either, but I have no choice but to keep on. "

Good morning, everyone!

I am very happy to be here to make a speech today. The topic of my speech is "One Thing I Keep Doing".

In some parts of the world, children don't have enough food to eat or enough money to buy clothes or shoes. Every year at Sunshine Middle School, we do something to collect money for these children. This year we will have a Market Day. 

The Market Day will fall on July 8. We are going to make the student center at our school look just like a big shopping center! People can come at any time from 9:00 a. m. to 5:00 p. m. and buy every- thing from clothes to books, cakes and flowers. 

Luckily for us, many volunteers (志愿者) will help prepare for the big event. Last year, Ms. Grant and Ms. Ali made some wonderful cakes for our charity. They will do it again this year. Bill Thomas will visit Bookworm Bookshop and Mel's Music Shop and ask them to give us things that we can sell at the event. Philip White will e- mail all the teachers and ask them to come to our event. Alice Brow n will put a message online telling the public the event is open to everyone. 

However, there is more to do, and we need your help. We want you to give us things that we can sell- books, old clothes, anything that we can sell to collect money for poor children. We also need some student volunteers to sell the things we get on Market Day. 

With your help, we will certainly have a successful Market Day!

In a small village in Henan, there is a cool teacher named Zhang Jiantao. He teaches science at a primary school in the village. Mr. Zhang loves working on experiments (实验) with his students and making them laugh and learn at the same time. 

Mr. Zhang's experiments are so fun that the kids can't wait for the next one. They often ask, " When can we do science experiments, Mr. Zhang?" Mr. Zhang notices their excitement and tries to do more. He enjoys it when he sees the kids excited about science.

As time passes, Mr. Zhang's passion(激情) for teaching science grows stronger. He wants more kids to

learn and have fun with science, especially in the countryside. He wants to share his experiments with other teachers. He dreams of creating a science textbook for them. That way, more kids can enjoy the wonders of science, just like his students. 

From ancient times to today, poets have been seen as well-educated. and full of feelings. Can you 1 that a miner(矿工), born in a mountain village with only a high school diploma(文凭), doing the2 and most dangerous work in a mine, could write moving poems?

 Chen Nianxi was born in the mountains of Shaanxi Province.3 by newspapers and literary journals(文学期刊), Chen wrote his first poem in high school. After high school, Chen farmed and got married. To make a 4 for the whole family, he took up mining, which paid quite well. For more than 15 years, he worked hard during the day, while reading and writing poems at night.
