It is the Thanksgiving Day . I have the strong desire to write about something to express my thanks to the people around me.

    I {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (bring up) by my grandparents {#blank#}2{#/blank#} are as kind and hardworking as thousands of Chinese peasants in a distant village. They worked in the field all day long and took good care of me as well.

    Last Friday, my friend David called me and invited me and our friend Tom to a party in his university. Tom and I are in{#blank#}1{#/blank#} same class. We both wanted to go to the party, but there was a problem--we'd have a final exam on the {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (come) Monday.

    Many people believe small talk is very{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(bore).Although that is true,there are many places where small talk is very important.In Western culture,strangers talk to other strangers{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(frequent).On the other hand,small talk is not so common in Eastern culture.Strangers are{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(friend)to one another in Western culture,and small talk is very important to English learning.One other place where small talk is important is in{#blank#}4{#/blank#}interview.Besides,the best way to learn small talk is to provide many examples.Here are some{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(suggest)about how to use examples.Small talk{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(involve)many different topics.In other words,students can learn several lessons,{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(cover)other subjects,such as sports,jobs,schools,etc.Once we have started the small talk,{#blank#}8{#/blank#}is your responsibility to keep the conversation{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(focus)on your work and study.In order to do so,you can talk about anything{#blank#}10{#/blank#}is not too personal.

    Over the last few years, learning Chinese{#blank#}1{#/blank#} (become) popular among people all over the world. Last month, I received an email from my cousin Jack,{#blank#}2{#/blank#}lived in Canada. He said he was enthusiastic about Chinese and asked me to find him some books {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(special) intended for Chinese beginners{#blank#}4{#/blank#} (feel) very happy, I couldn't wait to find him some books. I'm very glad that Jack is beginning to learn Chinese just like many other foreigners abroad, but I know it may be{#blank#}10{#/blank#} enjoyable challenge for him.

    Traditional Chinese medicine has been practised for around 3, 000 years, but it {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (be) relatively recent in the West, and acupuncture(针灸)only really became well known in the West in the 1970s as people began to travel {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (much)frequently between the two areas of the world.

    In the West, the treatment is often used {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (relieve)headaches, dental pain, back pain and arthritis, and to treat depression, asthma, stress, high blood pressure and anxiety. Cherie Blair, a well-known human rights lawyer and the wife of the British Prime Minister, was recently spotted {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (wear)an acupuncture needle in her ear, suggesting that she uses the treatment to deal with stress.
