There has been a recent trend in the food service industry toward lower fat content and less salt. This trend, which was started by the medical community（医学界）{#blank#}1{#/blank#}a method of fighting heart disease, has had some unintended side{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(effect) such as overweight and heart disease—the very thing the medical community was trying to fight.

    Fat and salt are very important parts of a diet. They are required{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(process) the food that we eat, to recover from injury and for several other bodily functions. When fat and salt{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(remove) from food, the food tastes as if is missing something. As {#blank#}5{#/blank#} result, people will eat more food to try to make up for that something missing. Even {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (bad),  the amount of fast food that people eat goes up. Fast food {#blank#}7{#/blank#}  (be) full of fat and salt; by {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (eat) more fast food people will get more salt and fat than they need in their diet.

    Having enough fat and salt in your meals will reduce the urge to snack(吃点心) between meals and will improve the taste of your food. However, be {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (care) not to go to extremes. Like anything, it is possible to have too much of both, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} is not good for the health.

    Can you imagine waking up each day in a house that is {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (gentle) rocked by the movement of water? Well, for some people this vision of the future may become a reality.

    It is a commonly accepted fact that {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the Earth's temperature rises, the ice caps at the North and South Poles will melt, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (cause) the sea level to rise.

    So, where does this leave the many countries in the world {#blank#}4{#/blank#}have large sections of their populations living in areas which lie at or below sea level? The Netherlands, for example, is one of {#blank#}5{#/blank#} most highly populated, low-lying countries and {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (battle) with the problem of flooding for years. Further rises in the sea level would result in much of the country disappearing under water.

    Inventive architects may have come up with a {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (solve) to the problem: a house actually built on the water. The basic idea is that houses will have a base {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (fill) with air and a way of anchoring(使固定) them to the ground. This will allow the house {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (move) upwards whenever the sea level rises and sink back down when the sea level drops. So, will {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (float) houses be the homes of the future? For some people there may be no alternative.

    Keeping a diary in English is one of the most effective ways to improve our English writing abilities. Compared with other forms of writing, it is shorter and takes{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(little) time. It can help {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(we) to develop the habit of thinking in English. If we{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(keep) on doing this practice, gradually we'll learn how to express ourselves in English. In keeping a diary in English, we certainly run up against many {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (difficulty). It often happens that we have trouble finding appropriate words and phrases{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(give) expression to our mind, and there are also many idiomatic ways of saying things in Chinese.

   As far as I am concerned, my suggestion is{#blank#}6{#/blank#}we should always have a notebook and a Chinese-English dictionary within easy reach. Whenever something beats us, we can first put it down in our notebook{#blank#}7{#/blank#}then consult our dictionary. We can also turn to our English teacher for help, if necessary.

    As the rain starts to pound on the windows, you may find your dog hiding under a low piece of furniture or in the corner of a dark room. It's not unusual for a dog to attempt {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (become) grounded during storms by seeking {#blank#}2{#/blank#} lowest place in the house or some place near the house's pipes.

    But why? As you might suspect, noise is one of the {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (reason). Thunder-storms can frighten dogs with noise phobia, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} is a severe fear of loud noises. Noise phobias can start at any age and worsen over time if {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (leave)untreated.

    Another reason is static electricity(静电). During a thunderstorm, static electricity in the clouds builds up, eventually {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (burst) into lightning. Dogs can sense this static electricity, and often even before the storm reaches our own neighbourhood. Static electricity {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (feel) by dogs through their fur. It could be {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (help)to gently lead your dog to the bathroom and into the bathtub as the porcelain(瓷器)may {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (actual) help block static electricity.

    At the same time, try not to take care {#blank#}10{#/blank#} your dog too much. Otherwise, your dog may think that its behavior is something you'd like to see again.
