There is a zoo in our city. My parents often take me there on 1. I like animals. I have a lot of toy animals in my room. Blue Lightning

    Sally loved cars more than anything else. This spring she thought of building a go-kart to enter for the Go-Go Race. So she asked her dad for help.

    "Well," he said. "How about this: you do some research first and then come back to me with a design."

    A week later, Sally brought her notes and drawings to Dad. She named her go-kart "Blue Lightning". Dad looked over her work, thinking. "Well, that's interesting," he said. "Have a try. Just build Blue Lightning as you've designed."

    Over three weekends of hard work, Sally turned her design into a real, working go-kart and painted it light blue. Dad asked her to take it for a test drive. Sally agreed.

    After she did that, Sally drove back to Dad. "Well," she said. "Now I know why you wanted me to have a test drive."

    "Oh, do you?" he said. "Please share."

    "When I drove fast, there was a lot of pushback," she said. "I think it's because of the lightning bolt (闪电) shape."

    "Very good!" Dad said.

    "So, why didn't you tell me about that problem in the first place?" Sally asked.

    Dad laughed. "Where's the fun in that? If you give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. But if you teach a man to fish, he'll eat for a lifetime."

    Sally said, "I see. Anyway, designing is half the fun!"

    Dad smiled. "Good. Sometimes, learning happens during the process. We learn how to do something right by doing it a few times first and making mistakes along the way."

    That encouraged Sally and she worked even harder. When she showed Dad her new go-kart, he nodded with pride.

    Finally came the race. Sally wasn't worried about whether she would win—in her mind, she had already won, by building something better than ever before.

    Do you remember when your grandma told you the story of Snow White? Ah, the happy days of childhood! But did you know that Snow White comes from Germany? It's just one story from the 20 in Grimm's Fairy Tales(《格林童话》).

    The Grimm brothers started to collect (收集) fairy tales in 1806. Six years later, their first book came out. Why are German fairy tales so interesting? Maybe it's because they comes from a great place famous for its stories—the Black Forest.

    The Black Forest is in southwest Germany. It's the largest forest in the country and one of the most beautiful. It's famous for its trees and lovely views. There are valleys and waterfalls there It's a good place to start a story.

    Don't forget to bring something back if you visit. People there are good at making clocks, musical instruments and watches.

    A young man with a large bag on his back came far away for a master (大师). He said "Master, I'm so lonely and so painful that the long trip makes me tired out, my shoes worn-out, my feet cut, and my hands also injured an bleeding .... Why can't I find the sun in the heart?"

    The master asked, "What do you put in you large bag?"

    "What, carrying the boat?" the young man was surprised, "it is so heavy. How can I carry it?"

    "Yes, my son, you can't carry it," the master just smiled and said, "when you cross the river, the boat is useful. But after crossing it, you will put down the boat and hurry on, If not, it will become a burden (负担). Pain, loneliness and tears—all these are useful to life. They can improve life, but if you don't forget them all the time, they will become the burden in life. Put it down! My son, life can't bear(承受) a heavy burden," The young man put down his bag and hurried on. He walked easily and happily, and much faster than before.

    Hye-seung Hyun is a girl from South Korea韩国). She lives with her parents, sister and brother in Seoul. What is her school day like?

    Hyun gets up at seven. Her family usually eats breakfast at half past seven. Mom often makes breakfast.

    Hyun goes to school at 8:15. Classes in the morning are from 9:00 to 12:00. There are usually three lessons. Hyun loves art best.

    Hyun has lunch at school at 12:30. She doesn't have time to go home. Classes in the afternoon are from 13:00 to 15:00.
