Before Father's Day, I found my father was unhappy because he was out of work. I decided to cheer him up by buying him a special Father's Day gift.

One day after school I1to the Agins which was known for fashions and styles. I told Agins that I was looking for a Father's Day present.

“ Do you think he'd like a2?”she asked. “I think he might.”I told her.

She 3a Swiss watch and I told her that would like it.

“ How much money do you have?”she asked.

“ 4dollars.” I replied.

“You're so lucky!”she told me. “It's only $11. You still have $1 for the5 . “ She packed the watch and I thanked for my business, and I rode off home with the gift under my arm.

When my father opened the gift, he asked6. “Where did you get it?”

“I boughtit at the Agins.I cost me $11.” I said. My father was shocked into silence.

Many years later, I did learn that the watch was worth several hundred dollars,7I appreciated(赞赏) how wonderful Agins had been to me. I always felt8that I never had chance to thank her.

“What really amazes meto this day…my daughter.”My father said, “Letting you have the watch for 11 dollars was9 enough. But the fact that she let you leave the store with a dollar for the card was a touch(触动) of10. I'll never forget it.”

    Mark and Rosa wanted to go on holiday in a place called San Antonio. They worked very hard for several years. Finally, they made enough money for their dream 1. But their dream was more like a nightmare(噩梦)!

    They decided to go for two weeks in the spring2they heard that the weather was perfect there at that time.

    The problem3when the flight(航班)was delayed(延误)because of bad weather. They couldn't leave until night. They 4 got on the plane twelve hours late! But they 5fly to San Antonio because there was a storm. They had to fly to the capital city instead. There they stayed in a small hotel 6the airport.

    The hotel was next to the sea, but the sea was so dirty that they couldn't swim in it. And the hotel swimming pool was full of leaves! To make things7, the food was awful, too. For breakfast there was 8bread and milk! The worst part was when the storm arrived. They felt really9because of the wind and rain.

    Because of the weather they had to stay another night in the small hotel with10to do. They arrived in San Antonio three days late in the end. And someone told them the weather there had been wonderful all the time.  

    There was once a bad king. All his people hated him very much. One day in a summer he was swimming by himself in a river. The king was a 1 swimmer, but when he was in the middle of the river, suddenly he didn't feel well. He cried out "Help! Help!" At that time two farmers were working in the field near the 2. They ran over, jumped into the water and saved the king. They didn't know that he was the king 3 they pulled(拉) him out of the water.

    The king was very happy, so he said to the farmers, "You have saved my life. Now you may ask for anything, and I'll give it to you."

    One of the farmers said, "My son broke his 4 last week, and he can't walk. I'm very sad, you know. Please send him a good 5. "The king agreed. Then he said to the other farmer." And what can I do for you, old man?" The old man was very clever. He thought for a few minutes and then he answered, "You can do a very important thing for me," "What's that?" asked the king. He thought that the old man would ask for some 6 or something else.

    "Don't tell anybody that we have saved you," the old farmer answered.
