Sometimes good things come in pairs. Perhaps no one knows it better than Shin Lim. After winning season 13 of America's Got Talent last September, the Canadian-Chinese magician won America's Got Talent: The Champions again not long ago. Fifty winners from past seasons around the world took part in The Champions, Lim became the final winner with his amazing card tricks.
Lim was born in Vancouver, Canada in 1991. When he was 11. his family moved to Massachusetts, USA and he grew up there. The boy was interested in music and started piano training at 9 and didn't begin doing card tricks until he was 16. When watching his brother do card tricks, young Lim fell in love with it, a late start for a future professional. He taught himself from You Tube, a popular video-sharing website and later began giving performances there from time to time.
In college Lim studied the piano. Unluckily, an illness led him to decide between music and magic. Finally, he chose to stick with his passion in magic. He spent all the time practicing card tricks. To make card magic more artistic he brought music to nearly all his tricks while he stayed silent during his show. His hard work paid off. Before winning AGT, he won many international prizes." He's incredible," the host Terry Crews said. "I was trying to catch what he was doing. I was watching cards disappear in his hands and I was like what in the world You know it's a trick, but he was fooling me every time."
After his AGT success, Lim said, "I couldn't be happier. All I can say is to follow your dreams, really."
