    Giraffes are beautiful, smart and friendly. They have long legs and necks (脖子). They are so tall that they can grow up over 5 meters (米). So how do they sleep or drink?

    You may think it's difficult for them to sleep, but they have no such problems because giraffes don't often stop for a sleep. Giraffes just need to sleep about thirty minutes a day. When they sleep, they don't always lie down (躺下). They usually sleep for minutes at a time, because it's difficult for them to get up again. And it's a great danger to sleep in the wild (荒野). But the giraffes in the zoo sleep for about 4-6 hours every day. They usually lie down when they sleep.

    Drinking water is a big problem for giraffes because their long necks are too "short". To drink water, they must spread (伸展) their front legs in a difficult way. And in this way, other animals like Africa's big cats can easily hunt (猎食) them. So they usually get most of their water from the trees and flowers. Giraffes don't need to drink water very often. They can even drink no water for months!

The year is 2045. A group of robots take part in the World Cup. Robots? Is that possible? Many scientists believe it can happen, because there are already robots that can play football. Of course, today's robots don't just play sports.

Early robots could do easy things, mainly in factories. Humans operated (操作) them. However, today's robots can operate on their own. Some can only move around a little, like the robots which can sweep the floor, but others, for example, Honda's ASIMO can do much more. He can run, climb, dance, and even play football.

Then there are robots which look like humans. These robots have faces and can show feelings. Such robots can learn new things, and show us how they "feel". Actroid -DER is one of them.

Scientists are also making robots that look and act like animals. At NASA, scientists are making a robot snake which can get into holes (洞). One day, it may help scientists look for signs of life on Mars. There are other animal robots. The frog-bot can jump over things. The sticky-bot can walk up walls. There's even a robot called Water Runner that can walk on water.

But can a robot football team ever play as well as a human team? Many scientists think so. Anything is possible. One day, they may even be world champions (冠军)!

 第一节阅读以下材料,然后从下面方框中所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出符合各部分信息的句子(其中一项为多余选项),完成第66~68题。

EMERGENCY? WHAT EMERGENCY?

An emergency service (紧急服务) should be like that: a service that you phone in an emergency. You might need to call the police if you're in a car accident. But some people phone the emergency services for some unimportant reasons (原因). {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

Here are some examples we heard about from emergencycentres all over the world.

1 'I ordered food from a Chinese takeaway and it didn't come. I'm so hungry! Can you tell them to hurry up, please?'

2 'My children are making such a loud noise and I can't think about things. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}

3 There's a black cat in my garden. Black cats are such unlucky animals. Can someone please come and take it away?'

These calls are funny to read about, but they can have very serious consequences (后果) . 'Every call takes about a minute,' said one man who works in emergency services. 'Maybe that doesn't sound a very long time, but in that one minute, other people are calling who really have an emergency. And for them, a minute might be really important.'

So let's get really serious: {#blank#}3{#/blank#} And of course, remember that you should never phone them with information that's untrue!

A. And it's hard to believe these calls are real!

B. THINK before you call the emergency services.

C. Can you give me his telephone number?

D. Can you come and take them away, please?

第二节请结合第一节内容,回答下面的问题。

When can we call the emergency services? {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

 阅读下列材料,从每题所给的 A、B、C、D 四个选项中选出最佳选项。

If you cannot live without your car. Zurich might be the last city you would like to visit. In Zurich, people are welcome, but cars are not! Over the past 20 years, this city has used smart ways to make traffic lighter.

One is to keep the same number of parking spaces(停车空间). For example, if 50 new parking spaces are built in one part of the city, then 50 old spaces in other parts are taken away for other uses. So the total(总的)number does not change. Some are unhappy that there are never enough spaces. That is just what the city has in mind: If people find parking more difficult, ____.

Also, the number of cars in the city is counted(计数). Over 3, 500 little computers are put under Zurich roads to check the number of cars that come into the city. If the number is higher than the city can deal with(处理), the traffic lights on the roads that enter the city will be kept red. So drivers who are traveling into Zurich have to stop and wait until there are fewer cars in the city. Now, you may ask why Zurich is doing this. This is because the city wants to make more spaces for its people. What's more, it can provide people with a comfortable and beautiful environment(环境) . Most of people who live here agree that they feel happier than before!
