Stephen Hawking was born in Oxford, England on 8th January, 1942. He went to school in St Allbans, a small city near London. ⑴尽管他做得很好，但是拿不到第一名。

    After leaving school, Hawking went first to Oxford University where he studied physics and then went to Cambridge University where he studied cosmology(宇宙学). As he himself admits, he didn't work hard. He was a very lazy student, and did very little work. However, he still got high marks.

   ⑵ 在他20岁的时候，他的身体出毛病了。 He started to knock into things. When he visited his family at Christmas time, his mother was so worried that she made him see a doctor. Hawking was sent to hospital for tests. Finally, the result came back. Hawking had motor neuron disease（运动神经元病）. ⑶The illness would make him unable to speak, breathe or move without the help of a machine. Doctors said they had no way to help him. He would die before 23.

    At first, Hawking became very sad. After a while, though, he began to see his life in a different way. As he later wrote, “Before my illness was diagnosed(诊断), I had been very bored with life. There had not seemed to be anything worth doing. But shortly after I came out of hospital, ⑷I suddenly realized that there were a lot of valuable things I could do.” Then Hawking got married and found a job at Cambridge University as a professor. ⑸He strongly believes that his story shows that nobody should lose hope, no matter how bad their situation is. “Life is not fair.” He once said. “You just have to do the best you can in your own situation.”

    Once Newton invited a friend to dinner at home. When they were ready to eat, Newton left to get a bottle of wine (酒). {#blank#}2{#/blank#}, Newton still didn't come back. At last his friend found Newton in his lab. When Newton was going to get the bottle of wine, he suddenly had a new idea for his experiment. So he quite forgot his friend and the dinner. Another time, Newton was leading a horse up a mountain, and he held the rein(缰绳) in his hand. While he was walking along, he kept thinking about problems. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}, he found that the horse was gone.

    Einstein was another example. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. While waiting, he became lost in thought. It started to rain. The rain kept on for some time.     The Spring Festival is Chinese people's festival. There are different names for each Chinese year. We call it the Year of the Rooster, the Year of Gog…And this year is the Year of Pig.

    Before the festival, people are busy shopping and cleaning their houses. On the eve, there is a big family dinner. After dinner, all the family stay up late to welcome the New Year.

    On the Spring Festival, people put on their new clothes and go to visit their relatives and friends. They say "Happy New Year" and some other greetings to each other. People have a good time during the festival.

    I have always had a love for traveling abroad. Last year, I took a trip to London alone. Those nights，I stayed in a youth hostel（青年旅社）. For me，hostels are places where I can meet and talk to different people. It is great fun for me. During the stay in the hostel, I met two girls, one from Brazil and the other from Slovakia. We three had very happy talks together. We shared our personal travel stories and the interesting people we met with one another. The girl from Brazil was actually a lawyer（律师）. 她帮助人们解决他们的家庭问题。 She was taking a trip to Europe all by herself. The girl from Slovakia had much interest in photography（摄影）. Because I was also a photography fan, we ended up talking all night and sharing experience in using a camera.

    The best part is that they both became close friends of mine. Even now, sometimes we still talk with each other online. Last month, I got some photos from the Brazilian girl. To my surprise, she had a baby daughter and they were laughing happily in the photos. I was so happy for her. And it's such a great thing to know that there are people remembering you from far away. Though you may just meet each other for a few hours, you have someone caring about you in the other side of the world. And I think that is the most amazing part of traveling. So if you have free time, maybe you can try to travel abroad to relax yourself as I do.
