    Mother's Day is celebrated in the USA. It is also a holiday in some other countries. It is on the second Sunday in May. It is a day to thank mothers. On that day mothers usually receive flowers or cards. On the cards, children will write “Thanks, Mom”，“To the best mother in the world”，“Best wishes for Mother's Day” and so on. We should make mothers happy on that day.

    Where does the idea for the holiday come from? We should thank Miss Anna M．Jarvis. She brought up the idea of having such a day. She lived in West Virginia. Her mother died on May 9th, 1905.She had a deep love for her mother. She wrote letters to some important persons. In her letters she asked them to decide a day for all mothers. Then Mother's Day was made on the second Sunday in May by the USA in 1913.

    In China, children give presents to their mothers on Mother's Day, or the whole family go out and try to do something nice for their mothers. Because mothers always think of others more than themselves. They love their children and families very much. Everybody should show his love to his mother and help her as much as possible.

    Olivia is one of many kids in Washington, especially in the Capitol Hill area, who bike to school with an adult.

    Malia Weedon, 8, a third grader at Maury Elementary School, likes to bike because it's faster than walking. It takes her about five minutes to get to school on her bike. She's been biking to school for several years now and likes to race her little brother, William,

    Jennifer Hefferan, whose job is to make sure kids in Washington get to school safely, said that more people are calling her to ask about bike safety for kids. She also said that schools ask for more bike racks (自行车停放架）almost every day.

Last week we asked students at Guanghua High School about the best ways to learn more English. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}Some students had more specific suggestions.     Wei Ming feels differently. He has been learning English for six years and loves it a lot.{#blank#}4{#/blank#} He also thinks that watching English movies isn't a bad way because he can watch the actors say the words.

    Liu Chang said that joining the English Club at school was the best way to improve her English .{#blank#}5{#/blank#}And they also have fun.

    There are lots of rules at Tim's school. He agrees with(赞同) some of them-For example, they can't arrive late; they can't run in the hallways; and they can't eat in class. All these rules are OK because they are reasonable(合理).

    But there are some rules Tim doesn't agree with. For example, at his school, they have to wear the uniform and they can't wear jeans. But Tim thinks jeans are good because they are comfortable. At school, they can't listen to music in art class. But most students think listening to music in art class is relaxing.

    Tim also has to follow some rules at home. If he wants to watch TV, he has to finish his homework first. And he can't go out with his friends on school nights, that is, from Monday to Friday. He also has to clean his room every week. But he doesn't have to take out the trash. (垃圾)

Amy: What's your hobby, John?

John: I like playing football with my classmates and playing the piano at home. What about you, Amy?

Amy: I like watching films and playing table tennis.

John: Are you good at playing table tennis?

I could see the woman reading there clearly again!
