    A German named Thomas Derksen spent an entire day shopping in a major Chinese city without cash or a credit card.

    Statistics from the Hangzhou-headquarted Ant Financial Services Group,the operator of Alipay,China's largest mobile payment service provider,show that about 98 percent of supermarkets.and more than 40,000 restaurants allow customers to pay with apps.

    Hangzhou is not unique in China,though.In most cities,especially developed metropolises,mobile payment apps are now a part of everyday life.

My father

The day of my big solo (独唱) had finally arrived. Everyone was there: my mom and dad and my little brother. Uncle Scott and Auntie Tammy had even picked up my grandma from the nursing home so she wouldn't miss the big event.

My name was on the cover of the program in bright yellow with a daisy chain drawn around it. "Cindy Hamond ... Soloist."

I couldn't believe it when I saw my name. Not that it was my name, but that it wasn't Renee Swanson's.

Renee and I had been classmates since kindergarten. She was always wherever I was and she was always ahead of me.

Dance-class recital needs a big finish? Renee was picked.

Selling Girl Scout cookies? "Oh, I'm sorry," the lady at the front door would say. "I just bought twenty boxes from Renee Swanson. Such a nice girl." Yeah, whatever.

Softball? She played first base while I watched her from my position in the outfield.

The day of the choir concert tryouts (选拔) was nerve wracking. We waited in the library while Ms. Jenkins called us one at a time into the choir room. When Ms. Jenkins called my name, my whole body was shaking.

When I came back to the library, Renee smiled at me. Ms. Jenkins called her name and she calmly followed her. She was still calm and smiling when her tryout was over.

Before she started the car, curiosity drove me to ask," Do you know someone there?" She shook her head. "Then what did you do with the flowers?" She smiled slightly," I gave them to the receptionist(前台接待员). ""What?" She laughed at my confusion. "I told the receptionist to give the flowers to whoever needed them, especially who hasn't gotten any in a while."

I kept silent for a moment. Not long after we continued our driving, I spoke again," Did you leave your name?" To this she answered instantly," No. Leaving flowers there for someone who will appreciate them makes me feel good, which is enough of a thank for me. "

Suddenly, still thinking about Mom's deeds, I heard something burst loudly. It was our car that broke down! Nothing could be worse, because neither my mom nor I understood how to repair it, and we didn't know where the garage was. It also seemed impossible to wait for any passer-by, since we had seen so few along the way.
