There has been a recent trend in the food service industry toward lower fat content and less salt. This trend, which was started by the medical community（医学界）{#blank#}1{#/blank#}a method of fighting heart disease, has had some unintended side{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(effect) such as overweight and heart disease—the very thing the medical community was trying to fight.

    Fat and salt are very important parts of a diet. They are required{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(process) the food that we eat, to recover from injury and for several other bodily functions. When fat and salt{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(remove) from food, the food tastes as if is missing something. As {#blank#}5{#/blank#} result, people will eat more food to try to make up for that something missing. Even {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (bad),  the amount of fast food that people eat goes up. Fast food {#blank#}7{#/blank#}  (be) full of fat and salt; by {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (eat) more fast food people will get more salt and fat than they need in their diet.

    Having enough fat and salt in your meals will reduce the urge to snack(吃点心) between meals and will improve the taste of your food. However, be {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (care) not to go to extremes. Like anything, it is possible to have too much of both, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} is not good for the health.

    Americans are proud of their variety and individuality, yet they love and respect few things more than a uniform, whether it is the uniform of {#blank#}1{#/blank#} elevator operator or the uniform of a five-star general. Why are uniforms so popular there?

    Among the arguments for uniforms is that most uniforms look more {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (profession) than civilian (百姓的) clothes. People expect superior quality from a man {#blank#}3{#/blank#} wears a uniform. The television repairman wearing a uniform tends {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (inspire) more trust. Faith {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the skill of a garage worker is increased by a uniform. Uniforms also have many practical {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (benefit). They save on other clothes and laundry bills. They are  often {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (comfortable) than civilian clothes. Among the arguments against uniforms {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (be) their lack of variety and the loss of individuality. {#blank#}9{#/blank#} there are many types of uniforms, the wearer of any particular typeis generally stuck with it, without change. When people look alike, they will think, speak, and act {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (similar).

    It was a short flight from Shanghai to Xi' an. Xi' an is one of the four great ancient capitals of China{#blank#}1{#/blank#}over 3,100 years of history. Its ancient walls date from the Ming Dynasty and are the best {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (preserve) in the world. There are bicycles for people to hire. It is {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(amaze) to ride along the walls to survey this fascinating city.

    The Tang Dynasty Music and Dance show is not to be missed, but my favorite is an art gallery, {#blank#}4{#/blank#}we can enjoy some beautiful artwork and learn how to write Chinese characters.

    Most tourists make{#blank#}5{#/blank#}way to Xi' an to see the life-size terracotta warriors (兵马俑) and we were no  {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(difference). The collection, which shows the armies of the first Emperor of China, {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(remain) hidden until 1974 when they were discovered by a farmer sinking a well. Walking among the statues is forbidden unless you are a VIP — but there are plenty of souvenir{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(shop) in which tourists can buy the replicas(复制品)of them.

    All too soon it was time{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(leave). I really enjoyed my stay in Xi' an. It is indeed a place of interest worth{#blank#}10{#/blank#}second visit.

    I am Adam Rouse. Now I work in a center for drug addicts, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (help) others to stop taking drugs.

    A CCTV journalist succeeded {#blank#}1{#/blank#} arousing a heated discussion among citizens by asking people whether they were happy. There were {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (variety) as to the responses, even some quite funny ones included. Although people played jokes on the answers, it did not take long {#blank#}3{#/blank#}they began to figure out the true meanings of happiness.

    It is certain that people's views on happiness {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (affect) greatly by their own life experience. Unfortunately, too many people refer to being rich as happiness and there is no sign of{#blank#}5{#/blank#} decrease in the number of the people who are voluntarily at the mercy of wealth. Some people whose intention is to make big money appreciate {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (offer) any chance to multiply their income, believing that is {#blank#}7{#/blank#} their happiness lies. Some are eager to inherit(继承)their parents' property, especially those {#blank#}8{#/blank#} are known as silver-spoon kids(富二代). Even worse, some would rather break the law to satisfy their financial desire or seek their fortune {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (illegal).

    In my opinion, we should make {#blank#}10{#/blank#} clear that happiness is not about pursuing wealth merely but about admiring the beautiful things in life. Therefore, live your life to the fullest and be happy.
