Flora was a carnivorous(食肉的) plant. She lived in a supermarket, next to her friend, Porky, who worked there. Porky 1her with great affection and attention, and always gave her some meat at the end of each day. But one day, Porky didn't give her meat any more. Flora got so worried that she decided to 2 why Porky did this to her.

    After several days, she found out that Porky 3 lots of meat in a big yellow box. 4 not to know anything about it, Flora asked Porky if she could have a little of the food that was 5 in the yellow box. He responded very 6that she could not.

    Flora felt hurt, as well as 7, and she couldn't stop 8who Porky was keeping all that delicious-looking meat for. She was filling up with anger. That night, when the shop was 9, she went over to the box, opened it, and10the meat.

    The next morning, Porky arrived and found the meat had gone. Flora felt terrible. He asked her several times 11she had taken the meat. At first she 12it, but seeing Porky's worried face, she13 to admit to it.

    “What have you done?” Porky 14. “I told you not to touch it! All that meat was 15！That's why I haven't been able to give you 16for days. They sent us a spoiled（变质的）delivery.”

    Without delay, Flora was taken to a hospital, and the doctors there 17 to save Flora's life. Flora was very 18 and it taught her a big lesson. She learnt to stick to the 19set by those who loved her, because that was much 20. than doing whatever she wanted.

    I was getting ready to head to my daughter's college to bring her home for Christmas. The 1 was falling heavily and the land was silvered. I knew it wasn't going to be an easy drive.

    Usually a three-hour round2, but I knew it was going to be a lot 3 today as I slowed my car to 4 the slippery roads. Once I was on the road, 5 , conditioh9 only worsened. I 6 slowed down but four-wheel trucks sped past me 7 huge showers of slush (融雪) onto my windshield. During the last twenty miles I suddenly found myself behind a very  8   winter driver.9 driving slow and adjusting, when he hit a slippery spot he braked hard and turned sharply all over the road. 1 had to 10 hard myself to keep from hitting him but unfortunately slid into a ditch (沟).

    I tried pulling out again and again but could only hear  11  tires. I was half-way out in the road and a truck sped by me, missing the car by inches. I looked about the car 12 and miraculously the car started to move,13it was almost being pushed out of the ditch. From the driving mirror I spotted a 14 , covered with snow,15  my car as hard as possible. When I 16 my hand to greet him with gratitude, he17  signed me good luck, getting on his car.

    Just as a famous writer Henry 18 it, “He who walks in love may wander far. Yet God will bring him 19  the blessed are.” Wherever you go then and however20 your journeys may be, always remember that you are watched over by people with a love more powerful and more beautiful than you can ever imagine.

    “The way we choose to respond to others can cause them to feel ashamed 1can allow them to remember our kindness and2our stories with the future generations.” when I read this3 I thought of Doris, a very 4person. All around her room were dolls she had made: they were the most interesting dolls I'd ever seen.

    One day 5I was in her room, she took one of her dolls out of the case to6me, saying it was the7doll she had ever made. The doll was very unusual with fine artistic work. I was amazed that anyone could crate something so 8.

    Doris held the dolls very carefully. Then she slowly9the doll in such a way that I could see a10crack(裂缝)on the skirt. Doris said that on the way to class she bumped(撞击)the side of the skirt. She expressed how she was 11.When it was her turn to show the doll to the teacher, she pointed out the crack. Doris felt12that the doll would be13. Much to her surprise, the teacher told her she was just going to ignore the crack and 14the doll on the other good 15it had. Doris said this remark and16changed her life. She knew17the teacher hadn't overlooked the crack, she18had made the rest of the dolls.

    The teacher could have made Doris feel ashamed about the crack. But because of her19to ignore the crack, Doris was sharing her20to the next generation.

    Several decades of years ago, I ran a service station and roadhouse on the main road between Melbourne and Adelaide. One very cold, wet night at about 3∶30 a.m., there was a1on the front door of our house. A young man, wet from2 to toe, explained that he had3out of petrol about 30 km up the road. He had left his pregnant wife and his two children4 at the car and said that he would hitchhike(搭便车) back.

    Once I had5a can with petrol, I took him back to his car where his two-year-old and four-year-old children were both6, saying that they were cold. Once the car had started, I suggested that he7me back.

    Before leaving, I had turned the heater8 in the roadhouse, so that when we went in, it was nice and9.While the little ones played and ran10, I prepared bread and butter for the children, and hot chocolate for the11.

    It was about 5 a.m. before they12 .The young fellow asked me how much he13 me and I told him that the petrol pump(加油泵)had14 $15.He offered to pay "call-out fee", but I wouldn't accept it.

    About a month later, I received a15 from Interstate, a large bus company that we had been trying to16to stop off at our roadhouse for a long time. It17out that the young fellow I had helped was its general manager, the most18person in the company.

    In his letter, he thanked me again and19 me that, from then on, all their buses would stop at my service station. In this20, a little bit of kindness was rewarded with a huge amount of benefits.

    A man died and was on his way to another1, either the Heaven or the Hell. He saw an extremely2palace half way and the owner of the palace3him to stay and live in the palace.

    The man said, "I have been working4during my life and now I just want to eat and sleep5any work."

    The owner of the palace said, "6, there is nowhere else better than here for you. There are a wealth of7in my palace and you can eat whatever you want without anyone8you. 9, there is10that needs to be done by you." Then, the man settled down in the palace.

    At the beginning, the man felt very11at the rotation（轮流）of eating and sleeping. But12, he felt a bit lonely and empty. So he went to the owner and complained, "It is13to live by just eating and sleeping every day. Now I show no14in this kind of life any more. Could you help me find a15?"

    The owner replied, "16, there is no job here at all."

    After another several months, the man could not17the present life and went to the owner18, "I really could not stand this sort of life any more. If you do not offer me a job, I would19to go to the Hell instead of living here."

    The owner of the palace smiled contemptuously（轻蔑地）, "Do you think it is the Heaven here? It is20the Hell!"

    I boarded the airplane heading to Barcelona, frightened because in a matter of hours I'd be landing in a country populated by people who all spoke a language which was completely unknown to me. Not only that. I'd be 1 the next two weeks there.

    All the butterflies I had in my 2 immediately flew away because as I arrived at the warm, colorful campus 3 I'd be living for the next fourteen days. I felt like I'd found myself a second 4.Counselors and other staff members welcomed us at the gate, introducing themselves, and just being all round 5 .

    In the mornings we took Spanish classes and a guy 13he learnt more Spanish over these two weeks than he did for the past year at 14.During the day, I formed life-long relationships with people from all 15 of the globe, and mostly visited the breathtaking Barcelonan beaches.

    Speaking of breakfast, the meals were restaurant—worthy, the 16were endless and people with special food needs were well 17.

    The staff always found some way or another to 18 us, whether it was having a surprise water party at ten p. m. or having an unannounced watermelon—eating contest, they always had 19 up their sleeves.

    By the end of camp, everyone was so sad that they had to leave, there were enough 20 to fill up an Olympic—sized pool.
