When parents send their children to school，often they don't know what happens day to day. Parents depend on what their children tell them about they are doing and what they are learning. Generally schools will host parent-teacher meeting at least twice a year. Parent-teacher meetings are short meetings between parents and their children's teacher. Usually they are held when teachers give put a student's grades for the term. The parent-teacher meetings give teachers a chance to let parents know how their child is doing. A teacher will let a parent know the student's advantages and bring to the parent's attention any problems with grades or behavior(行为).The meetings also offer parents the chance to ask questions and see what their child is learning.

    Most children do not go along with their parents to the meetings. This allows both the parent and teacher to talk honestly about the child's progress without making the child feel bad. Usually a teacher will offer advice to the parent on how to support their child's education.

The boy wants to go out to fly a kite. But his father does not agree{#blank#}1{#/blank#}him because the rain is coming. So he asks his mom whether he can fly the kite indoors. His mom doesn't agree. The boy is sad. And then he asks whether he can watch TV for a while. Luckily, his mom finally agrees {#blank#}2{#/blank#}the idea.

① On April 25, 2024, China successfully sent the Shenzhou-18 spaceship with three astronauts to Tiangong space station for a six- month mission (任务). Among the three astronauts, Ye Guangfu is the mission commander (指挥官), with rich experience. 

② Ye was born in Septembe, 1980 and grew up in a small village in Sichuan. At the age of eight, his father died. Ye remembered how difficult it was for his family to make a living. Although it seemed impossible for him to try out to become an air force pilot at first, his love for flying and hard work got him into the Air Force Aviation University of China. 

③ In 2009, Ye decided to reach even higher and applied to (申请) be an astronaut. Becoming an astronaut, one must face many challenges. Ye even trained in caves (洞穴) in Europe where he had to find his way through dark and wet caves. This made him the first Chinese person to finish this training. Ye never gave up his dream. And his hard work paid off when he made his first journey into space on the Shenzhou-13 mission on October 16, 2021. 

④ Ye is always thankful for all the difficult times because they help him keep going and stick to(坚持) his dreams. Ye is really a role model who shows us the importance of strong perseverance (毅力). 

This weekend is my 9th birthday. My mom books me a pony-riding (骑小马) party. The party lasts for 2 hours. It is from 8:30 am to 10:30 am, but Mom and I will get there half an hour earlier to set the table. We little kids can take turns to ride the ponies, but only ten kids can ride the ponies. I have so many friends that I have to think hard about whom to invite to the party. At the party, each of us can have a ten-minute ride. After each ride, there's a two-minute break. There are three ponies at the party, Dash, Poppy and Dotti, but only Dash and Poppy are for riding. We can brush Dotti's long white hair and give him some carrots, but we can't ride him. He's getting very old and can't carry us any more.

Mom gets lots of food, fruit and drinks for us. On the day of the party, the kids waiting for their tums can have something to eat and drink. There's a garden in the paddock (马场). Mom says the horse owner (主人) hides some small toys in different places in the garden. We can go to look for them. If we find them, we can take them home. How exciting! I can't wait to have the birthday party!
