Today I took part in a quiz show at a TV studio. When I arrived at  {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (eighth) o[clock, a woman put make-up on my face, and brushed my hair.

 Then the director came. He told me to stay {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (relax) and not to worry. It was really kind of him to do that. The hot lights shone down upon {#blank#}3{#/blank#}  (we). One of the contestants passed out before the show started, so the director  {#blank#}4{#/blank#}  (choose) another girl. The girl was called Angela. She knew a lot of  {#blank#}5{#/blank#}  (thing). She beat me and another contestant and finally won the prize. Everyone was happy for Angela.

 I was sorry I didn't win, but I'll do{#blank#}6{#/blank#} (well) next time.

One day, Mr. White told the class to get ready for a hobby show. The students {#blank#}1{#/blank#} the whole morning getting what they were going to show.
All the students came back on time but Bob, the laziest {#blank#}2{#/blank#} in his classmates' eyes. It seemed that it was very {#blank#}3{#/blank#} for Bob to have a hobby. But to their surprise, Bob came back with many {#blank#}4{#/blank#} stamps in his hand. Mr. White was very happy after watching them. However, Bob was going to {#blank#}5{#/blank#} them back.
“Bob, you can't take them back until the others watch them this afternoon,” said Mr. White.
“But I am sorry they are my brother''s,” he answered. “He doesn't want them to be out of our home for long. He's afraid that they will be {#blank#}6{#/blank#} .”
“Bob, you should show some of your own {#blank#}7{#/blank#} here, not someone else's. Mr. White became kind of angry.
But Bob's words made him even {#blank#}8{#/blank#} . “Mr. White, it's true that I have a hobby. My hobby is watching my brother collecting stamps.”

      Watertown is a great place for a family to take a vacation. Teenagers want to visit the world's {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (large) water slides and eat at the Uncle Bob's. A different rock band {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (play) at Uncle Bob's every night. Kids will enjoy the Clown City Café. They have organized games and the staff dress up  {#blank#}3{#/blank#} ([æz])clowns(小丑).

      There is also a lot for parents in Watertown. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} ([if]) they love good food, they can find it at the Farmer's Market where the food is both {#blank#}5{#/blank#} [dɪ'lɪʃəs] and cheap. While the children have fun, parents can take dance lessons on the beach. And {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (['evribɒdi]) can learn something in Watertown. There are three {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (museum). Teenagers love the Sports Museum and kids enjoy the Science Museum. Parents will spend many hours {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (walk) through the History Museum.

    It was the first time that my wife and I had flown first class. As we boarded the plane, we felt as if we were part of a wealthy group. We were{#blank#}1{#/blank#} (满的) of a sense of pride at sitting with those important people.

    We noticed that the stewardess (空姐)was working non-stop to make sure of the comfort of the first class {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (乘客). She could not walk by a seat {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (没有)being given an order. I thought she must love her job very much, since she gave each person {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (如此的) a big smile.

    As the stewardess passed our seats near the end of the {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (航班) , I looked up at her and said: “Thank you and I hope you have a great night.” She stopped with an {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (表情) of disbelief on her face, and said: “Excuse me?” I {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (重复)my words, and she smiled in a rather funny way. It seemed as if I had asked a question that she did not know how to{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (回答). A little later, as we were getting off the plane, the stewardess said to me: “Thank you very much, sir.” Then she said {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (静静地): “You are the only one who has thanked me or said anything nice to me all night. I really appreciate your kindness.

    The sense of belonging to an elite(精英) group in first class disappeared as soon as I heard those words. We were{#blank#}10{#/blank#} (提醒) that if there was no kindness, there would be no first-class flying.

    Do you know that animals have love for each other and their children just like us h{#blank#}1{#/blank#}? Let me tell you some moving (令人感动的) s{#blank#}2{#/blank#}of great animal parents.

    Several years ago a heavy rain h{#blank#}3{#/blank#}a town and made the river go up. When the rain stopped， people found that a big dog swam to an island in the river twice a day for two weeks. Why did she do so? Her four c{#blank#}4{#/blank#} were there. The mother swam there every day to feed her babies. This t{#blank#}5{#/blank#} story on the newspaper moved many people.

    A{#blank#}6{#/blank#} story is about chimpanzees（猩猩）.  A scientist n{#blank#}7{#/blank#} Jane Goodall spent 4 years living with chimpanzees in Africa. She found that chimpanzees also cared for those that were hurt or got lost. “It is not o{#blank#}8{#/blank#} humans who have duties， but also animals do，” she said.

    Two birds in Chengdu also showed their parents' l{#blank#}9{#/blank#}. Their baby was hurt and fell on the street in the center of the city. Cars were driving past but the brave parents rushed down to the road and took the little bird a{#blank#}10{#/blank#} with their claws (爪子).

    As we all know, the Moon is the moon of Earth, and it goes around the earth. Scientists have already {#blank#}1{#/blank#} a lot about it, but they've always wanted to know more about it. And they decided to send {#blank#}2{#/blank#} to the Moon. They think it's the {#blank#}3{#/blank#} way to learn more about the moon.

    But {#blank#}4{#/blank#} do the astronauts get to the moon? The moon is about 384,000 kilometres away from the earth. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} can't take a plane to the Moon. But something can fly even {#blank#}6{#/blank#} there is no air. That is a manned spacecraft (载人宇宙飞船). Several astronauts have been to the Moon in the manned spacecraft. It is said that so far more than ten astronauts have {#blank#}7{#/blank#} to the Moon in the manned spacecraft and returned successfully.

    Scientists have always asked the questions: {#blank#}8{#/blank#} so many stars in the universe, are we alone, or is there life out there in space: Have there been visitors to the earth from other planets? Why has no one {#blank#}9{#/blank#} with us? We do not know the {#blank#}10{#/blank#}yet. But some scientists believe that they will find out the fact someday.
