Now students' English handwriting (书写) gets worse and worse. Their teachers worry about that. Is your English handwriting beautiful? If not, here are three steps that really work!

Slow down

    If your writing is hard to read, try slowing down a little. For some kids, going a little slowly makes the handwriting clear. If you write too fast, it's hard for you to stop where you should, and even worse, you may make more mistakes.

    Hold your pencil correctly

    When you hold your pencil correctly, writing is much easier. Some kids press down really hard when they write. That makes the handwriting not nice. Try to be relaxed and don't hold the pencil so hard. Let your writing appear nice and clean. If you do so, people will guess you are a student with a good habit.

    Draw more pictures

    Drawing can improve your handwriting. You need to use the skills to control your pencil better when you are drawing pictures. Even though you have no chance to draw at school, you can practice by yourself at home.

    Handwriting is very important. Imagine you are a world-famous movie star or a well-known sports player, what do you do when your fans run up to you? Give them your autographs, of course!

    My name is Jerry Zhang, and I am a father of two young daughters -- one is about four years old and the other is only about one.我来自中国，现在住在美国。

    One day, my older daughter, Madison, told me she didn't want to be Chinese. Those days she was quite interested in the book characters (角色) Madeline and Eloise. She asked me all the time why she was Chinese and they weren't, and how she could have yellow or red hair like them.

    This made me look for books with Asian (亚洲的) characters for Madison to read. However, I only found a few, and they were heavily cultural (文化的) and Madison didn't connect herself with any of the characters in them. And she wash' t interested in them at all Then she told me again that she didn't want to be Chinese, and it made me sad.

    In most of the books for children in the US, the characters look like Americans. There are over 17 million Asians and Asians and Americans in this count, but few of them have Asian faces. I think it's important for Asian children to see themselves in books as interesting and clever kids.

    So I created (创作) a book for Madison. Pepper Zhang in the book is an Asian girl. Her imagination (想象) takes her on a trip to creativity and art I want my children to know that being Chinese or being Asian is a great thing too.

    Many people like sports, but they do not all like the same sports. In some countries, cricket (板球运动) is a very popular sport. In others it is not popular at all. No one plays it or watches it on TV. However, most people like cocker. The World Cup is very popular.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}

    Different people like different foods. Some people do not like meat.{#blank#}3{#/blank#} Some people do not like potatoes or bread. They prefer rice.

    The giant panda is one of the most popular animals in the world. A giant panda can grow to be 1.5 metres tall and weigh up to 150 kg. People think the giant panda is very lovely. So it is not surprising that the World Wide Fund for Nature chose the giant panda as its symbol. The WWF tells people that giant pandas are in danger and raises money to save them.

    The giant pandas only live in China. There are fewer than 1, 600 giant pandas left in the wild. The main reason why pandas are endangered is that the area where pandas can live has become smaller.

    The WWF works to help giant pandas in the wild in many ways. One of the ways that help them is to increase the size of panda reserves. Some reserves need to be joined together by planting bamboo between them to make "corridors(通道) ". These are paths that lead from one reserve to another. No one may harm the pandas in these areas. The corridors let pandas move from one habitat(栖息地) to another to look for food.

    People are working very hard to make sure the giant pandas do not die out.

    Brandon Forest Park is a place of interest. This large woodland is home to many birds and other wildlife. It's open all year round to visitors.

    In the centre of the park is the Forest Shop and Cafe. You can buy maps in the shop and     there are all kinds of gifts and souvenirs on sale as well.

    The Cafe is open from 9 a. m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. It is open from 9 a. m. to 3 p.m. from Monday to Friday. But on Wednesday it's shut all day.

    There's also a large area for visitors to enjoy a picnic lunch. But please don't throw rubbish. Bicycles are for hire(租用). For an hour it costs $3. 5 and for half a day it's $9. 79.

    Special events are held at the park during the summer. There's going to be an outdoor play, a concert and a horse-riding race this summer.

    It's true that you can learn new words when you read or listen, but you should also study new words seriously. Here are a few things I do:

    Make flash cards(识字卡)：(A) I find this is really the best way to learn new words. Make some small cards and write the new English word on one side and the word in your language or in easy English on the other side to test yourself. To really make this work, you have to review often (You need a system! ). I think this is the best method for learning English vocabulary.

    Make sentences with the new words: This is great if you can ask someone to check them. It's also great to make some really crazy sentences-that way you won't forget them! I also collect example sentences of the words I'm trying to learn if I see the word in a book, I write down the sentence.

    Make up a mnemonic：A mnemonic is a way to remember something, like a little story. For example, (B) 我在厨房的门上贴上单词 kitchen. The problem with this is that it works for a while but then you get used to the words and forget to read them!
